1980 Datsun 280 Zx 10th Anniversary Edition Number 310 Of 3000 on 2040-cars
Chatsworth, California, United States
Up for auction is a 1980 Datsun 280zx 10th anniversary edition ID #310 of 3000 made. I purchased the car in August of 2005 and have done some mechanical work. Car runs and handles very well and looks good. The two tone red/black paint and the gold/black pinstripe really set off this car. There were only 500 made of this anniversary color design. It is rarer than its counterpart anniversary color scheme of gold and black. It has 52964 original miles. All the following has been replaced or repaired:
new brakes,
new water pump,
tint window,
NOS coin holder,
A/C-works well and is cold,
New set of 4 tires,
New Gold front Emblem-NOS ,
Side Fender Sticker Decals-NOS,
Rebuild Manifold,
New Front Floor Mats,
Tool Kit-Used,
NOS Dash Duct Sides,
Fuel Injection completely cleaned and gone through,
New top front dash skin,
NOS gas cap ,
The car was repainted at some point in time before I purchased it. There are a few small body "bubbles" that I took pictures of that I believe are small rust spots underneath. That is all I see of any rust. There is surface rust under the chassis which is expected for a car of this age. The dash has some cracks in it which is why I have a new dash top that I never have put on. I also have NOS side dash vent ducts in red which are very hard to find. I have only seen one pair ever on ebay and I bought them for a big price but it will look great once the dash is replaced. The car has seen some sun. There is some fading on the top part of the door panels and in the hatch areas as shown, but neither are ripped or torn. Seats are in clean shape. The rear hatchback carpet is a bit dried. Power steering , power brakes, and power windows all work find. The cruise control light goes on but does not engage. The radio works but there is static obviously the antenna is busted so I can’t hear much on the radio. I never tried the cassette but I will say it doesn’t work unless I try before I place this listing. All the gauges work except for the gas tank. There seems to be some intermittence problem as sometimes it will work and then quit and then go back to working. I just fill up after every couple hundred miles. Have never removed the t-tops but the drivers side inside molding has broken on the right side towards the visor as shown in the pix. There are a couple of fine line cracks in the driver’s side t-tops. There are also some fine circular scratches from the car wash on the hood as also shown in the pictures. The alloy wheels have some pitting in them. Car passed smog with out a problem late in 2009. The car is registered with current tags. Last time I checked, all the tail lights, brake lights and headlights work. Car is complete with nothing missing that I know of except for the 280zx emblem on the front fenders. I have some real nice ones but the back steams have been broken off. There are also clear plastic covers over the recessed headlights. I recently bought a nicer passenger side door handle, a passenger side door handle grip, and NOS door window switch bezels. Exterior close ups. Missing 280 ZX emblem Top Windshield. Exterior door handle. Paint bubbles at gas filler. Scratches in hood paint. Broken antenna. Engine compartment. Interior Dash Seats Door Panels Console Sun visors and front header. Carpet and rear compartment. Seat belt. Wheel. Underside. Parts. A $ 1000 down payment must be made within 48 hours of the auction end by Paypal. The remainder must be paid within 7 days by cashiers check or cash or band wire transfer. Any checks must clear both banks before the car will be released. I reserve the right to cancel this auction at any time. |

First new Datsun in decade sketched, set for Indian reveal
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Nissan's Datsun nameplate revival will begin with two models bound for the Indian market. Nissan has released sketches of a five-door hatchback based on the Micra (codenamed K2) and a top-down view of a hood that could potentially be from a sedan.
The company's press release says all will be revealed on July 15 in New Delhi, India. The Datsun lineup will be first offered in 2014 to that country's ride-deprived residents as well as Indonesia and Russia. Later in 2014, South Africa will join the list.
We've heard Nissan plans for Datsuns to share platforms with company-owned Lada. In January, we heard the projected price tag could be around $3,000 USD to compete with Chinese imports. The official press release (which can be read in full below) says nothing about either of these reports, however.
Malaise Era All-Stars
Fri, 17 May 2013A few weeks ago, we bid a fond happy 40th anniversary to the automotive dark ages of 1973-84 that have come to be known as "The Malaise Era" - the performance ice-age when 160 horsepower was a lot and a 0-60 time of under 10 seconds was remarkable. Like music in the 1980s, everything in automobiledom didn't suck, however. There were a few bright spots. Here are five of our favorites:

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
