This one owner 1976 Datsun 280Z is in very good condition with 94K original miles. All original except for aftermarket wheels, stereo and a new paint job which was done approximately 15 years ago. Body is straight with only a couple of minor door dings and a couple of chips in paint. There is no visible rust anywhere on car and no visible leaks underneath. Engine starts right up, idles good, and has plenty of power. There is some backfiring when first taking off but clears up with higher RPMs. 4-speed manual transmission shifts good.
Interior is in good condition except for the bottom cushion of drivers side seat and a crack in the dashboard. Fan blows good but air condition and heater both need work.
Car is being sold as-is and where-is with no warranty offered or implied.
Successful bidder will need to make a $500 deposit within 48 hours of close of auction and balance of payment will be due 7 days after that. Buyer is responsible for picking up or having vehicle shipped.

Datsun officially reborn with Go model for India [w/video]
Mon, 15 Jul 2013In March of 2012, Nissan announced the return of its historic Datsun brand. Datsun used to represent the Nissan brand in a number of markets, but its badge hasn't been worn on a new model since 1981. In 2013, though, it has been relaunched as the Japanese manufacturer's budget offering in the emerging markets of India and Russia.
The model that will lead that charge, at least in India, is the Go, a car that pays tribute to the very first Datsun, the DAT-GO.
The operative term with the Datsun brand is: "budget offering." Don't step inside the Go and expect beautiful hides or brushed metals (it's being sold in India, after all). The instrument cluster features a simple speedometer, while the five-speed manual and the center stack above it are rather barren. It's not without luxuries, though, as iPod-style connectivity is available through a Mobile Docking Station.

Wed, 12 Nov 2014The Datsun 240Z got a lot of things right when it was introduced, with handsome styling, strong performance and a reasonably affordable price. And while the coupes grew a strong fan base in the US, they remained quite a rarity in the UK. Decades later, a father and son in England have latched onto the car and bonded over their shared love for two completely opposite takes on this Japanese GT
There's already quite a collection of exotics in Mel Streek's garage, and his rat rod 240Z, which he calls the Ratsun, definitely doesn't fit with the rest. On the outside, the Datsun looks ready to fall apart, but it's mechanically perfect underneath. Alternatively, Mel's son, Ollie, has a completely different take for his Z with its perfect, shining paint.
Both Zs sound amazing, though. They have a mechanical, somewhat course exhaust note that's intoxicating to hear. You can definitely tell there's some work going on under the hood.
