1973 Datsun 240z on 2040-cars
Sausalito, California, United States
1973 Datsun 240Z with 73,000 ORIGINAL miles. Three owners over 41 years. Mechincally very sound. Everything operational. Runs great! A really “tight” engine that “purrs” beautifully. Body and interior in great condition. Even has the original horse hair mats and yellow nissan chocks. Engine completely redone at 70,000 miles. Rebuilt completely to spec!!! Everything kept stock except for an aluminum triflow radiator and 6-into-2 chrome headers. Head and block professionally machined. Standard bore maintained. All new pistons and Total Seal chrome racing rings. New bearings installed. New timing chain and chain guides. New starter, alternator, and water pump. New long-life battery. All new hoses, brass freeze plugs, spark plugs, red Taylor Spiro Pro spark plug wires, fuel filter, and gaskets. Rebuild was done EXACTLY by the book. I’m a perfectionist and made sure everything was done right. Block painted black and most parts bead-blasted if needed and powder-coated in black. Last owner swaped out the two Hitachi-SU flat-top carbuerators (stock in ’73) for two Hitachi-SU 1v sidedraft round-top carburetors, which were stock in the ‘70-72 240Z’s and are much better carbeurators (no vapor lock). I had these round tops professionally rebuilt last year. General Specifications: 129 Horsepower rating 4-speed manual transmission Rear wheel Drive Two-seater with leather-grained vinyl bucket seats Fully independent suspension with
struts front and rear Rear hatchback L24 Engine with

cast as single unit with deep skirt design Cast Aluminum slipper-skirt pistons with forged steel connecting rods I also have lots of extra parts. A new automatic electronic antenna. Crank pulley to run air conditioning or power steering. I have the original radiator (still works great) and lots of extra parts I just picked up here and there when I saw them. Actually have almost a whole other engine in parts! Also, this may be a Bob Bondurant car used at his racing school when it moved to Sears Point in 1973. Looking into this and will follow up when I find out. I’ve owned the
car for about 4 years and really don’t want to part with it but I’m studying
full-time to apply to medical school and not working. Just want to find an owner
who will take care of it and love it as much as I do! Give me a call at (860) 878-0150 |

Meet the man who took a year sabbatical to drive his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster
Tue, 28 Jan 2014A quiet drive in the country can be the most relaxing thing in the world. What if it didn't have to end, and you could keep driving for a week, a month or even a whole year? That's what Scott Fisher is doing by taking a one-year sabbatical from work and driving his 1967 Datsun Fairlady Roadster around North America.
"I had owned a manufacturing business in Las Vegas for 16 years. I knew I needed to kinda' get out, and unwind, and get my mojo back," said Fisher.
Fisher's trip has covered over 30,000 miles through 44 states and 7 Canadian Provinces, and it is not over yet. He left from his home in Las Vegas, NV, last spring and drove to the Pacific. From there, he drove up the coast to the Canadian border and aimed the car for the Atlantic. He just posted on his blog about visiting the Nissan headquarters and museum in Franklin, TN, and his next stops are Mississippi and New Orleans, LA.
First new Datsun in decade sketched, set for Indian reveal
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Nissan's Datsun nameplate revival will begin with two models bound for the Indian market. Nissan has released sketches of a five-door hatchback based on the Micra (codenamed K2) and a top-down view of a hood that could potentially be from a sedan.
The company's press release says all will be revealed on July 15 in New Delhi, India. The Datsun lineup will be first offered in 2014 to that country's ride-deprived residents as well as Indonesia and Russia. Later in 2014, South Africa will join the list.
We've heard Nissan plans for Datsuns to share platforms with company-owned Lada. In January, we heard the projected price tag could be around $3,000 USD to compete with Chinese imports. The official press release (which can be read in full below) says nothing about either of these reports, however.
Subaru Legacy pitted against Roadkill project cars
Fri, 05 Sep 2014There's an evergreen debate among auto enthusiasts about whether they would prefer to have the latest and greatest car of today or a certified classic from yesteryear. What if you had to further define that, though, and the choice was between a brand new 2015 Subaru Legacy or a turbocharged Datsun 240Z with a hatch that wouldn't close? Roadkill aimed to find out that and more in one of its best videos to date.
According to the hosts, Subaru came to them, handed over some money and challenged Roadkill's project cars against its latest Legacy. The result is every bit as good (or better) than any automotive-themed show you could find on television.
Things start simple with a figure-eight race in a rodeo arena with the Subaru taking on Roadkill's 1968 Ford Ranchero, originally built for ice racing. From there the Legacy races a 1968 Dodge Charger with no windows around and off-road rally stage. Finally, the Subie goes head-to-head against the Rotsun, the aforementioned turbocharged 240Z, through an abandoned neighborhood. Plus, there's a bonus drag race challenging them all.
