2005 Chrysler wheelchair conversion Van.

First off, let me point out that this van is as close to show room condition as possible, allowing for age and miles. I have looked it over very carefully and found one nick on the front grill, about the size of a house fly, one scuff on the right side belt molding and what appears to be a car wash brush scuff on the right taillight lens; the interior is beautiful. Let me also point out that I did not purchase this van with any intention of reselling it, however, since it was a long-distance purchase, it never occurred to me ask the width of the wheelchair lift. Unfortunately, the Braun lift (NMV05) although having a 400 pound lift capacity, is, at 25.75" usable width,  about an inch too narrow for my power wheelchair. This might also be a good time to point out that this van does not have a lowered floor. However, because the previous owner actually purchased it for a family member, who unfortunately became too disabled to drive before even receiving it, and said owner has a car dealership, this van was completely serviced mechanically from bottom to top and features new tires, new brakes, new sway bar links, new battery and alignment. He also took the time to have his local mobility dealer check out all of the adaptive equipment on the vehicle and verified that it was working properly. If you are not familiar with the AEVIT (Advanced Electronic Vehicle Interface Technology) systems, you will be pleasantly surprised to learn that they make driving much easier and safer for the disabled person. The AEVIT system provides electronic control of the throttle and brake, so it requires much less physical input than a mechanical system. It also has a screen with button switches to control all of the normal driving functions such as starting, transmission shifting, parking brake, headlights, windshield wipers, horn, HVAC, door locks and power windows. If you would like to see a demonstration of some of these features, on this van, send me a request and I'll reply with Youtube video links. This system is especially convenient for someone who has contracted fingers, strength and/or reach problems. That is why I wanted it for myself. Additionally, there is extra power assist applied to the steering mechanism to make that lighter and there is a backup system to provide boost for the power brakes in the event that the engine is shut off. The AEVIT system is probably state-of-the-art in mobility assistance and safety. It is also, if purchased new, very expensive. The local shop told me I would be looking at around $60,000 to install a system in my existing conversion Van. Obviously, purchasing it used can save quite a bit of money. If you are looking at a vehicle history report, there is a mention of an accident. I was told that this was a very slight incident that only damaged one of the bumper covers which has been replaced. Again, I cannot overemphasize the marvelous condition of this vehicle!

EZ-Lock System and center row seats are included, but not currently installed.

Clear Texas title, in my name. Vehicle inspections welcomed and vehicle can remain here for up to two weeks after purchase.

More 2015 Chrysler 200 photos surface

Wed, 08 Jan 2014

Just 24 hours after the first official 2015 Chrysler 200 shot made its way onto the web, a whole smattering of images have surfaced, courtesy of the folks at Motorward. Here, we can see the new Chrysler family sedan from every angle, including the interior, and might we say, she's pretty.
As we told you yesterday, the new 200 will be offered with either a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 173 pound-feet of torque or a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 295 hp and 262 lb-ft. A nine-speed automatic transmission accessed through Chrysler's rotary shifter (mounted on a Volvo-style floating center console) will direct power to the wheels. We've heard that both front- and all-wheel drive will be available, and what's more, it's been said that the new 200 will be able to achieve at least 35 miles per gallon on the highway.
An on-sale date has yet to be announced, but the new 200 will reportedly be priced at $21,700, not including $995 for destination. Have a look at the new round of photos in the gallery above - the striking blue model above looks to be the sportier 200S - and stay tuned for the officially official stuff early next week... if not sooner.

Fiat Chrysler taps Amazon, Shell execs to fill roles

Fri, Dec 7 2018

MILAN — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is tapping executives from Amazon and Shell Oil Company with previous automotive industry experience to fill its ranks. CEO Mike Manley said in a letter to employees Thursday that Mark Stewart would join FCA as chief operating officer of North America from Amazon, "a company known for its culture of innovation, and obsession with delivering incredible value to customers." At Amazon, Stewart led teams focused on advanced robotics, artificial intelligence and automation methods. He previously was COO of ZF TRW automotive components supplier. Niel Golightly was named head of global communications. He was most recently Shell's vice president for external relations in North and South America, with a focus on reputation, brand and stakeholder engagement beyond communication strategies. He previously held roles at Ford Motor Company. Related Video: Image Credit: REUTERS/Rebecca Cook Hirings/Firings/Layoffs Alfa Romeo Chrysler Dodge Fiat Jeep RAM FCA Amazon shell Mike Manley

Waymo self-driving taxis in Arizona are now carrying paying passengers

Wed, Dec 5 2018

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Alphabet's Waymo on Wednesday launched a significant development in its costly, decade-long quest for autonomous transportation: Its self-driving taxis are now actually generating fares. With little fanfare, the company has begun charging passengers to use its driverless vehicles in a roughly 100-mile (160 km) zone in four Phoenix suburbs — Chandler, Tempe, Mesa and Gilbert — where it has been testing its technology since 2016. Producing revenue is a strategic milestone, putting Waymo ahead of U.S. rivals, primarily General Motors' Cruise Automation and Uber Technologies, which have yet to launch their own paid self-driving services. All are racing to win customers and recoup billions spent developing the technology. To use Waymo's service, dubbed Waymo One, riders must download an app and provide a credit card number, similar to ride-sharing services Uber and Lyft. A human driver will be behind the wheel, but only to intervene in case of emergency. Major challenges remain, starting with technical hurdles. A Waymo One taxi tested by Reuters last week proved slow and jerky at times. Whether customers will continue using the service once the novelty wears off remains to be seen. Regulations governing the industry across the country are an incoherent patchwork, a significant hurdle to fast expansion. Waymo would not say exactly how many of its cars would be on the road in Arizona. It said its around-the-clock service initially would be limited to "hundreds" of people invited to sign up last year. For now, pricing is roughly in line with that of Uber and Lyft. A 15-minute, 3-mile (4.8 km) drive taken by Reuters last week cost $7.59, just above the $7.22 offered by Lyft. "Over time, we hope to make Waymo One available to even more members of the public," Chief Executive John Krafcik wrote in a blog on Wednesday. "Self-driving technology is new to many, so we're proceeding carefully." 10 million miles, $1 billion The company has been testing its driverless cars for a decade. Its fleet, now numbering 600 vehicles, has logged more than 10 million miles on public roads in and around 25 U.S. cities. Alphabet does not disclose its total investment, but industry experts put that sum at well over $1 billion. Monetizing driverless technology has been slow going.
