1978 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country wagon in very, very nice original condition with less than 70k miles offered for the first time at NO Reserve. 318 cid V8 (5.2) litre with working Lean-Burn electronic ignition, power steering, power brakes, cruise control, intermittant wipers, power drivers seat, power windows, power door locks and adjustable rear air shocks. Exterior finish has very few blemishes with exception of slight paint bubbling on lower corner of passenger-front door. Woodgrain trim is in very presentable condition with minimal discoloration or warping. Paint and glass are in near perfect condition, as is the Pumpkin Orange leather upholstery which shows minimal wear on the driver's seat. Some sun fade of the carpet in rear cargo area is apparent. Sagging headliner has been replaced in factory-correct color and material. Exterior chrome shows some speckling but is in overall very good condition as are the rubber bumper inserts. Whitewall tires are in excellent condition with less than 2k miles since installed. The air conditioning does not blow cold and I have not attempted to have the problem diagnosed. All fluids have been flushed and all filters changed within the last 1k miles. A full set of rubber floor mats are included; they were removed during the process of taking photographs. This Chrysler has been supremely reliable and is a pleasure to drive. Prospective buyers are welcome to view the vehicle in person at its location near downtown Columbus, Ohio. I have owned the vehicle approximately 6 years, having purchased it from a vintage auto broker in central Ohio who purchased it from an estate sale in the area.

Mopar teases a big Hemi crate engine for SEMA
Wed, Oct 24 2018Mopar has released a new video teaser hinting at the release of a large and powerful crate Hemi engine at SEMA later this month in Las Vegas. The video functions like a lesson on symbolism in an English lit class. It opens with smoke and settles on a pair of backlit, large-clawed paw prints that look to be feline in origin. Then we hear earth-shaking pounding sounds of something larger than the paw prints that stomps over them. Then cue an overhead shot of what looks to be a vintage-model Dodge Charger and its growly Hemi engine entering the frame and then gunning the engine. Mopar already offers three crate Hemi V8 engines, topped by the 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat, good for 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, found in the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and marketed for pre-1976 classic muscle cars. So promising that "Something big is coming" is really saying something. Could it be a crate version of the 808-hp Hemi 6.2 that was found in the Dodge Demon, which was rated at 840 hp on racing fuel? Or is it something different? Curiously, Mopar says its reveal is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the odd time of 4:26 p.m. Could that time be a reference to the 426 Hemi — and specifically the Generation III 426 Hemi "Elephant" that Chrysler made several years ago? That technically qualifies as "bigger," and it would also align with both the muscle car-era Charger and round, earth-shaking footprints shown in the video. Time will prove whether we were right. MotorWeek retro review revisits the Chrysler PT Cruiser
Mon, Jun 29 2015I have a long history with the Chrysler PT Cruiser. My mom was working at Automobile magazine when it launched, and she brought home their long-term tester all the time. My buddy Adam's mom bought one in the early 2000s, and I drove it on many an occasion. When I left Winding Road in early 2010 and joined Autoblog, the car I got on Day 1 was... well, I think you can guess. I will never forget driving that 2010 PT Cruiser to a rest stop outside of Toledo, Ohio, to meet then editor-in-chief John Neff and buy his old camera. I will also never forget the look on Neff's face when he pulled into the parking lot in his 1991 Ford Taurus SHO, saw the PT, and started laughing. I have always hated this car. But when it launched around the turn of the millennium, it was a huge deal – not just for Chrysler, but for the industry. Retro styling was all the rage, and the PT had it in spades. On top of that, it was seriously functional – one of the first widely accepted tall hatchbacks in an era where Americans wanted sedans. MotorWeek has now dug up its original PT Cruiser review for its latest retro review offering. Watch the video above to see what the ever-charismatic John Davis and his crew thought of the PT way back when it was actually relevant.
