1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible In Orlando, Florida on 2040-cars
Orlando, Florida, United States
Top-Down Driving Just in Time for Summer! I am the second owner (since February 2005) of this metallic red/black top 1997 Chrysler Sebring convertible. It is powered by the Mitsubishi-built 2.5 liter V-6. I am selling to make room for a Lincoln Town Car I have purchased. For the last year I have used the Sebring primarily as my commuter car to and from work averaging less than 20 miles per day. It currently has roughly 108,500 miles on the clock. I have used Premium gas in it for best performance. The car is mechanically sound and shifts smoothly. Power driver’s seat, power driver mirror, and power windows and door locks, of course. Head lights, tail lights, brake lights and turn signals are fine. The Michelin tires are less than one year old. Inner and outer tie rods were replaced in 2013. The car received a complete front brake overhaul in 2012 with new rotors and calipers. Entire brake system was inspected recently and front pads and rear shoes have plenty of mileage left. A new battery was installed eight months ago and a new alternator installed last month. The A/C compressor was replaced in 2011. The blower and compressor operate, but the control switch to turn on the blower and regulate speed is not working properly. The Riker’s A/C technician confirmed compressor and blower are fine. A replacement switch module from the Chrysler dealer is over $300 but you can get one from the salvage yards for about $50. I have the receipts for all this work. Appearance and Interior The car received a complete premium paint job by Maaco in November 2010 That same month the Sebring received a new, high-quality convertible top. The rear window is glass and is defogging. At that time all new vinyl seating was also installed to replace the cracked and damaged leather. All this came to nearly $2000 in upgrades. All seatbelts work properly. I have used a reflective sunshield to protect the dashboard surface and it still looks new. One or two of the interior shots to show the dash and doors were taken before the new vinyl interior was installed; the front seats had seat covers at that time. The other shots show the newer interior. The convertible top operates perfectly, but I did not use it often so the top shows little wear. The seal is tight along the windshield edge and convertible top. (see photo) Issues The engine has a minor oil leak from the rear main seal, so I just watch the oil level periodically. The cylinder head gaskets are tight with no leaks. Power steering pump and power brake lines were checked just this month. Front passenger power window does not lower. The rear windows work fine. The driver window does lower and raise but the rear guide track is loose and you have to adjust the window in the up position to get a good seal with the top rubber molding. A recent parking lot ding on the right rear bumper removed some paint. There is an electronic module that controls the tachometer and the digital odometer, and this works intermittently. I recorded the mileage last week when it came on. A little humor here is appropriate! The speedometer, gas gauge and coolant temperature work properly. The horn does not work; may just be a bad electrical connection. The original CD player is inoperative. The title is clear and waiting to be signed over to its new owner. I live in southwest Orlando off Dr. Phillips Drive. The license tag has been transferred from the Sebring to the Lincoln. You are welcome to test drive it outside the neighborhood if you bring a current tag. Feel free to email me with any questions. Cash is best for this transaction. No checks. |

Detroit 3 to implement delayed unified towing standards for 2015
Tue, Feb 11 2014Car buyers have a responsibility to be well-informed consumers. That's not always a very simple task, but some guidelines are self-evident. If you live in a very snowy climate, you generally know a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro might not be as viable a vehicle choice as an all-wheel drive Explorer or Traverse, for example. If you want a fuel-efficient car, it's generally a good idea to know the difference between a diesel and a hybrid. But what if it's kind of tough to be an informed consumer? What if the information you need is more difficult to come by, or worse, based on different standards for each vehicle? Well, in that case, you might be a truck shopper. For years, customers of light-duty pickups have had to suffer through different ratings of towing capacities for each brand. For 2015 model year trucks, though, that will no longer be a problem. According to Automotive News, General Motors, Ford and Chrysler Group have announced that starting with next year's models, a common standard will be used to measure towing capacity. The Detroit Three will join Toyota, which adopted the Society of Automotive Engineers' so-called SAE J2807 standards way back in 2011. The standard was originally supposed to be in place for MY2013, but concerns that it would lower the overall stated capacity for trucks led Detroit automakers to pass. Ford originally passed, claiming it'd wait until its new F-150 was launched to adopt the new standards, leading GM and Ram to follow suit. Nissan, meanwhile, has said it will adopt the new standards as its vehicles are updated, meaning the company's next-generation Titan should adhere to the same tow ratings as its competitors. While the adoption of SAE J2807 will be helpful for light-duty customers, those interested in bigger trucks will still be left with differing standards. There is no sign of the new tow standards being adopted for the heavy-duty market.
Chrysler names six new board directors
Mon, 16 Jun 2014Executives may call the shots day-to-day at the world's leading automakers - much as they do at any other corporation - but the ultimate decision-making body remains the board of directors. And Chrysler has just named six new members to its board.
The appointments include Hermann Waldemer, the former CFO of Philip Morris International - the tobacco giant whose Marlboro brand has funneled untold billions into Ferrari as the Scuderia's title sponsor for decades, and on whose board Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne sits. Waldemer replaces Doug Steenland, who came to the Chrysler board after Northwest Airlines (at which he served as CEO) merged with Delta, and whose term on the board expired just days ago.
In addition to the Waldemer appointment, Chrysler has expanded its board with five more seats, all filled by existing group executives. Among them are Reid Bigland (head of US and Canadian sales and of the Ram truck brand), Fiat general counsel Giorgio Fossati, human resources director Michael J. Keegan, Jeep CEO Michael Manley, and group CFO Richard Palmer.
Auto investor Kirk Kerkorian dead at 98
Wed, Jun 17 2015Kirk Kerkorian, among the most talked-about investors in the American auto industry in recent memory, died at the age of 98 in Los Angeles on Monday, June 15. The billionaire ran the investment company Tracinda Corp. and was the largest shareholder in MGM Resorts International. Kerkorian attempted to use his power as a well-financed investor to push the auto industry in some fascinating ways. In 2006, he used his nearly 10-percent stake in General Motors to push a merger with the Renault-Nissan Alliance. The deal made it as far as discussions, but eventually fell through. Kerkorian also attempted to purchase Chrysler - twice. According to Automotive News, the first effort came in 1995 with a $22.8-billion offer for the automaker, and soon after it failed the company merged with Daimler. Then in 2007, Kerkorian was back with a bid for $4.5 billion, but things eventually fell to Cerberus. The billionaire finished the trifecta by buying up $1 billion in Ford stock in 2008 to make Kerkorian the single largest investor in the company. However, the situation didn't last long, and by the end of that year, he had unloaded the shares. According to Automotive News, Kerkorian was ranked by Forbes as the world's 41st richest man in 2008 with a net worth of $16 billion.
