PT Chrysler Convertible - GT - Turbo.  Owned since June 2011.  Mint condition.  No mechanical or known issues.  Engine runs strong; all electrical excellent.  This month I had the oil changed, the AC recharged and new front and rear brakes.  Interior is mint; top is mint and includes a mint black convertible top.  Replaced all four tires last year.  Small door ding on passenger side near door handle and small scratch on front bumper.  When I purchased car I replaced the front headlights - which were hazey - with new Chrysler NOS headlights.  Also installed chrome grill.  Car is immaculate.  Handles well and is quick.

NO DISSAPOINTMENTS.  Moving...must sell  :(    This was my summer car.

Vehicle sold as-is.  Inspection and questions welcome.  Vehicle located in Attleboro, MA 02703. $500 PayPal deposit due at sale; balance within 7 days.  Vehicle must be removed by October 15th.  Property sold.

Inexpensive fun convertible;  you should not have to put any $$  into this car for a long time.

Chrysler trademark suggest new Rebel in the family

Mon, 05 May 2014

Trademark filings can be a first alert in the auto industry that something is coming. For example, Lamborghini trademarked Aventador before we saw its supercar, and Chevrolet did the same thing with Z28. Other times, an automaker files to protect a name and never does anything with it. Chrysler is dredging up a brand from the past by filing a US request for "Rebel." The name is specifically for "motor vehicles, namely automobiles, trucks, vans, sport utility vehicles and structural parts therefor," according to Ignitionist quoting the filing.
In the US, Rebel was previously used on some American Motors Corporation models. It even spawned a muscle car version called the Machine (pictured above). Chrysler eventually bought AMC when it bowed out of the auto industry in 1987.
Chrysler's plans for the name are a complete mystery at the moment. Although, it probably won't be a midsize sedan like the original. That just seems too unlikely given the brand's current, established lineup. Rebel seems like a fantastic name for the performance trim of a vehicle, though. The Jeep Renegade Rebel has a nice ring to it, and a Ram 1500 Rebel pickup could also work. We're going to have to wait and see what's in store for the moniker. Let us know in Comments what model you think would fit the Rebel name.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chrysler Conquest TSi

Wed, Dec 19 2018

If you feel like stumping your friends with a very trivial car-trivia question, try this one: What car model was sold in the United States with badging from Plymouth, Dodge, and Chrysler? They'll tell you it's the Neon, which was badged as a Chrysler outside of the USA, and you'll point out the "in the United States" qualification and feel smug in your superior automotive knowledge. The correct answer is, of course, the Conquest, which was a rebadged Mitsubishi Starion. Here's a Chrysler Conquest TSi, found in a Denver-area self-service wrecking yard. The TSi was the factory-hot-rod version of the Conquest, with intercooling for its 2.6-liter Mitsubishi Astron four-cylinder engine and 176 horsepower— pretty serious for 1987. For 1984 through 1986, the Conquest could be had with either Dodge or Plymouth branding; the 1987-1989 Conquests are all Chryslers. This one is rough, though the odometer shows that it never even reached 150,000 miles. Here's a Grateful Dead sticker, presumably bought on Shakedown Street at some point before Jerry Garcia's death in 1995. TURBO was a powerful word during the 1980s, so much so that the Starion/Conquest came with seat belts emblazoned with the sacred word. I still see the occasional Starion or Conquest during my junkyard travels, but the Chrysler Conquest is the rarest version these days. This content is hosted by a third party. Carmakers ask Trump to revisit fuel efficiency rules

Mon, Feb 13 2017

Car companies operating in the US are required to meet stringent fuel efficiency standards (a fleet average of 54.5MPG) through 2025, but they're hoping to loosen things now that President Trump is in town. Leaders from Fiat Chrysler, Ford, GM, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota and VW have sent a letter to Trump asking him to rethink the Obama administration's choice to lock in efficiency guidelines for the next several years. The car makers want to revisit the midterm review for the 2025 commitment in hopes of loosening the demands. They claim that the tougher requirements raise costs, don't match public buying habits and will supposedly put "as many a million" jobs up in the air. The Trump administration hasn't specifically responded to the letter, although Environmental Protection Agency nominee Scott Pruitt had said he would return to the Obama-era decision. The automakers' argument doesn't entirely hold up. While the EPA did estimate that the US would fall short of efficiency goals due to a shift toward SUVs and trucks, the job claims are questionable. Why would making more fuel efficient vehicles necessarily cost jobs instead of pushing companies to do better? As it is, even a successful attempt to loosen guidelines may only have a limited effect. All of the brands mentioned here are pushing for greater mainstream adoption of electric vehicles within the next few years -- they may meet the Obama administration's expectations just by shifting more drivers away from gas power.
