1967 CHRYSLER NEWPORT CUSTOM 2DR. FAST TOP

383 4bbl. V8 engine
727 torqueflite automatic transmission
Black bucket seat interior with buddy seat...left one is power...right one reclines
Factory am radio with rear speaker and reverberator (echo chamber sound!)
Factory vacuum operated trunk release
Factory cruise control (not currently working)
Factory air conditioning....works good!
Factory automatic headlight dimmer
Power steering, power drum brakes

Car is in good, driver condition. Used to have a black vinyl top, but it was shredded from the sun, so it was removed and roof was painted.   Most of the paint on the car is original...only the front fender extensions and part of the left front fender are NOT original paint.  Car is a very solid, no rot , dry climate car that has spent it's life in dry Montana and Wyoming.  Only rust that I see is slight bubbling on left quarter panel above the fender skirt.  Also has rust in trunk floor on right side in the area of one of the plastic plugs.  Trunk floor is very good except for that one area and some surface rust.  Frame rails, lower quarters, floors, etc. are excellent!

Interior is presentable, and nice for the age.  Door panels, dash pad, headliner, etc. are excellent.  Rear seat cushion has one split seam, and right seat has a split seam on backrest and a couple of other small flaws.  Also, there is something wrong with the reclining mechanism of the right seat, so it leans back a little bit more than it should.

Engine seems fine...I have only driven the car around 500 miles in 4 years, so it never gets the cobwebs blown out of it...that is the main reason that I am selling..just no time to enjoy it and no inside storage for it.  It is too good of a car to let sit and go to waste!
Transmission works fine
Car drives good ...probably as good as it did in 1967
Air Cond. works...heater is bypassed so I assume that it needs a new heater core
Factory cruise does not work
Car stops, but is making a scraping sound in rear...I installed rebuilt master cylinder and brake booster. I have new brake hoses, and brake shoes that go with the car.

Has aftermarket chrome wire basket style 15 inch wheels....including spare.  I believe that these were installed early in the cars life.  I have the wire baskets, but they need a good cleaning...I left them off as I don't like the looks of them.
Tires are old, but have good tread...no cracks yet that I see, but I would recommend replacing them.

If you have any questions about the car....please feel free to ask BEFORE bidding!  Car is being sold as is with no warranty.  I would recommend trailering it, but I have driven it on 20-30 mile runs with no issues, but have never been on a long trip with it.

PAYMENT TO BE MADE AS FOLLOWS:  $500.00 DEPOSIT WITHIN 72 HOURS AFTER AUCTION ENDS. BALANCE DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER AUCTION ENDS.
Shipping is responsibility of purchaser, but I will gladly store it for up to 6 months.

I reserve the right to cancel auction at any time up until reserve is met.  Once reserve is met, auction will continue until the end.

Stellantis pledges $2.8 billion investment in Canadian plants

Wed, May 4 2022

Stellantis has re-upped its commitment to two pivotal Canadian factories. The Brampton Assembly Plant, where the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger are built, and the Windsor Assembly Plant, where the Chrysler Pacifica minivan is made, will receive a $2.8 million investment in the coming years.  The announcement came as welcome news for Brampton, as the plant's future was very much in doubt. The company had only promised to build the three models, sharing an aged platform, through 2023. Now the future is more clear. Stellantis will begin retooling the facility in 2024 once production of the muscle car trio winds down. When it comes back online in 2025, it will produce "at least one all-new electric model". It will also serve as the production facility for an all-new flexible architecture, but which models it will support were not disclosed. As for Windsor, retooling will begin in 2023. Stellantis didn't say when it would finish, but that it would be home to a "new multi-energy vehicle (MEV) architecture that will provide battery-electric (BEV) capability for multiple models." Both plants are expected to return to a three-shift schedule after layoffs at the plants dropped them down to two shifts. The reaffirmation of investment in Canada follows last month's announcement that Stellantis and LG Energy Solution would establish a $4.1 billion joint venture to make battery packs for electric vehicles. The project is being billed as Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery plant. In addition, Windsor's Automotive Research and Development Centre (ARDC) will now become North America's first battery lab. Stellantis is expanding the site by 100,000 square feet, where engineers will conduct R&D into BEV, PHEV and HEV cells, modules and battery packs. Stellantis North America Chief Operating Officer Mark Stewart said, "These investments reaffirm our long-term commitment to Canada and represent an important step as we move toward zero-emission vehicles that deliver on our customers’ desire for innovative, clean, safe and affordable mobility.”  Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Jeep will build old Wranglers next to new ones in Toledo

Mon, Mar 21 2016

Jeep made a lot of people happy when it confirmed that the next-generation Wrangler would continue to be built in Toledo, OH. Now, news is breaking about the lengths the automaker will go to in updating its northern Ohio factory. There's good news for Jeep dealers (more Wranglers to sell!), Jeep fans (more JKs to buy!), and Jeep itself (more money to be made!). According to a report from Automotive News, capacity at the factory will be increased to 350,000 units per year. That's around a 50 percent increase over what the Toledo complex can currently manage and is, according to Jeep boss Mike Manley, part of a move to keep production "at the right place" so "supply [stays] just behind demand." The other big news revealed by the AN report focuses on the future of the current Wrangler. Yes, the current JK has a future. It'll continue to be built at the Toledo factory up to six months after it successor arrives in showrooms, a move that's partially down to the way Jeep is shuffling production about. Toledo currently builds the Cherokee on a unibody production line – it'll continue to do so until March of 2017, when production will move to Belvidere, IL. The unibody line in Toledo will then be converted for body-on-frame production, which should take about six months. But during that time, the current JK (likely rebadged as a "Wrangler Classic") will continue to be built alongside another line of next-generation Wranglers, keeping dealers supplied with the today's Wrangler through March of 2018. The two Wranglers will overlap for about six months. This is all very good news if you've been waiting to pull the trigger on today's Wrangler. But move quickly – the clock is officially ticking. Fiat Chrysler CEO Marchionne's health crisis forced succession scramble

Wed, Jul 25 2018

Former Fiat Chrysler Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne for more than a year assured investors that he and the automaker's board were working on an orderly succession plan ahead of his expected departure in 2019. But a health crisis that left 66-year-old Marchionne incapacitated in a Swiss hospital set off a transition last week that was sudden and rushed, banking and industry sources said. The company announced on Wednesday that Marchionne had died, succumbing to complications from surgery. It emerged that Marchionne's successor was far from settled. Indeed before last week's crisis, many company executives remained in the dark, four banking sources who spoke to Fiat Chrysler executives told Reuters. The scramble to replace Marchionne led to the resignation of a senior executive who was passed over for the top job, the sources said, and exposed fissures between the Italian and North American sides of the world's seventh-largest automaker. Fiat Chrysler Chairman John Elkann named Michael Manley, head of the company's Jeep and Ram truck divisions, to replace Marchionne at an emergency meeting in Turin, Italy on Saturday. In doing so, Elkann followed Marchionne's wishes to appoint Manley his successor, two sources said. The company has portrayed Manley's appointment as the product of lengthy deliberation. "Sergio and John have always been totally aligned on the choice of Mike Manley," Fiat Chrysler's main spokesman Mike Keegan said on Tuesday, when asked whether there were differences over the succession. Elkann's office declined to comment. Manley could not immediately be reached for comment. This description diverges from what Marchionne himself told investors on June 1 during a day-long strategy presentation in Balocco, Italy. Marchionne said that he and Elkann "from time to time have these chats" about succession, but the issue would not be decided until next year. "It's a 2019 issue," Marchionne said. "So it's not going to happen until we close '18. It just won't happen." He went on to say that the company's board would not engage in a "rubber stamp process." Some analysts have also expressed skepticism that a final decision had been made. "My view is Marchionne and Elkann were still arguing about succession and had different views on the right candidate," Sanford Bernstein analyst Max Warburton said in a note on Monday, referring to the June 1 presentation.
