1974 New Yorker Brougham 2DRHT Survivor, was my dad's car, he bought it from the original owner here in the Reno/Sparks area. Has just over 78K miles, with original factory paint, code T5 Sienna Metallic, was going to install a new vinyl top before selling, but on a friends advice decided to leave it up to the new owner, as far as color choice etc. The factory top color was V1L which is Parchment or Beige. Also, by leaving the top off, you can see that besides a very thin surface rust, there is no major or minor rust on the roof or anywhere else. The 440 runs really nice, quiet, smooth and powerful. The 727 shifts perfect. I recently installed new front brake hoses and new semi-metallic brake pads, along with a new master cylinder, bled entire brake system, and installed a new idler arm. The front end still needs a little work, not sure what else it needs, maybe new strut rod bushings and sway bar bushings. It brakes extremely well with the new S/Met pads though. The interior needs some upholstery work on the driver's side seat, but the rest of the seats are just beautiful and still soft, even the top of the rear seat backs are still soft! One power window does not work, the passenger rear quarter window. The driver's window jiggles a bit when lowered, the window guide post needs to be lubricated. The top of the dash pad discolored after i cleaned it, but it can be re-dyed as it's still pretty soft. The driver's door arm rest has a cover on it that my dad installed to cover a crack i believe. My dad recharged the A/C, but it lost the charge over time. The cruise control works. It is a very loaded car, with Power Windows, A/C, Cruise, Tilt/Tele, Power Trunk Release, Rear Window Defogger, Light package, 6 Way Power Driver's seat, Power door locks, AM/FM 8-Track Stereo, LED Warning lights, ( one of the first Detroit cars to have them along with the gauges), Chrome Styled Road Wheels, etc. I have the build sheet and the original owner's manual. I polished the paint with Meguiar's products by hand, but i think that with a buffer, the paint will look spectacular for original factory paint from 1974. This car is coded on the build sheet as having "show car finish". There are a couple of very small dents, they are in close up pics. The chrome is still very nice, and still original. I hate to sell this car, but i already have too much to do and can't spend the time it so much deserve's. If you have any questions or want more pictures, please message me through ebay, and i'll send them to your e-mail. As with any vintage car, especially a survivor like this one, it's not perfect and will need some restoration work, but not nearly as much as most. Of course, it is sold as-is. Thanks for looking.

This forgotten Chrysler was its bid for Humvee contract
Wed, 27 Aug 2014Today, the Humvee might be as associated with the dead automotive brand from General Motors as it is with the hard-working truck that has long served as one of the backbone vehicles of America's military. But Autoline host John McElroy is showing off a practically unknown part of the model's story by digging out some old photos from his personal archive.
The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle project, better known today as the Humvee, can be traced back to a US Department of Defense request for bids to build a new military truck. According to McElroy, he was invited to the Chrysler proving grounds in 1981 to check out the bid from the brand's defense division. The company's concept was that it might be able to build an inexpensive, capable vehicle by using off-the-shelf parts.
The angular body panels gave the truck a look almost like a modern, stealth vehicle. However, the flat look was actually just to make the tooling as cheap as possible to produce. Still, this Chrysler looked surprisingly futuristic for the early '80s. It's actually not too far away from the famous Lamborghini LM002, itself intended as a possible military-spec machine.
Towing with the 2016 Ram lineup [w/video]
Mon, Nov 2 2015I do not tow things. Ever. Yet I recently found myself at the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles proving grounds in Chelsea, MI, where I'd be testing the hauling capabilities of Ram's current product range. This experience was not only a perfect education for a towing novice like me, but allowed me to tow far more weight than I'd ever consider hauling the real world, and all within the safe confines of the Chelsea Proving Grounds. There was an extremely diverse array of vehicles at my disposal, including Ram's gasoline- and diesel-powered offerings with trucks ranging from the 1500 on up through the 5500 Chassis Cab, as well ProMaster vans. Beyond that, FCA brought out a number of vintage Dodge pickups for me to play with, while also working with Case IH to provide a track-loader I could test. I put together a range of videos covering everything from the classics to the production trucks to the construction equipment. And despite some technical difficulties – you'll notice a distinct lack of in-car videos, with blame going to a corrupted micro SD card – I've assembled ten videos that give an up-close look at Ram's offerings. 2015 Ram ProMaster City Let's start small. The ProMaster City only has a towing capacity of 2,000 pounds. That's a reasonably impressive figure for a van that uses the same powertrain as a Chrysler 200. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder and nine-speed automatic weren't really bothered with the extra weight added by the trailer. Even when accelerating at freeway speeds, the ProMaster City didn't feel out of breath or hampered by its load. That said, the rear of the van was unloaded, which probably wouldn't be the case for most consumers. It's unclear how the City would feel if its driver were taking advantage of the max payload (1,883 pounds) and towing. 2015 Ram ProMaster 1500 To be polite, the Ram ProMaster is a difficult vehicle to like. Its awkward seating position is bus-like and lacks the visibility enjoyed by the Ford Transit or the utter driving comfort of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Its 3.0-liter, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine, meanwhile, is something of an anomaly. While it's potent for a four-cylinder diesel, producing 295 pound-feet of torque and 174 horsepower, those numbers don't feel all that impressive when loaded down. The model I tested was barely using half of its 5,100-pound maximum towing weight and was loaded down with just 500 of its 3,620-pound payload. Yet it lacked the pluckiness of the smaller City.
Chrysler recalling 700k minivans and Dodge Journey for ignition switch woes
Tue, 01 Jul 2014General Motors isn't the only automaker with ignition switch problems. Chrysler is fighting it too and is now announcing a recall of 695,957 examples worldwide of the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans from the 2008-2010 model years, plus the 2009-2010 Dodge Journey.
According to a statement from Chrysler, the models have a bad wireless ignition node detent ring in the ignition switch, making it possible for drivers to appear to have the key in the "Run" position but for the spring not to fully engage. It can then slip back to the "Accessory" position and shut the car off. If this happens, the vehicle loses power steering, brake boost and the airbags.
There is some disparity about the number of vehicles affected under this recall. In its statement, Chrysler claims that it covers 525,206 vehicles in the US, 102,892 in Canada, 25,591 in Mexico and 42,268 elsewhere. However, the recall announcement posted by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists an estimated 438,109 vehicles in the US. Chrysler spokesperson Nick Cappa told Autoblog via email that the reasoning for the different figures "will become clear at a later date."
