1951 Chrysler New Yorker convertible, original Hemi V-8 in great running condition, fully operational.

Car started life in California (have origin owner's registration cards to prove it), later Indiana.

This Chrysler has never been hit, has NO rot thru (with exception of a small area below trunk lid, and on base of spare tire carrier), and every body panel is super straight.  Doors hang perfectly, close precisely, convertible top operates freely, no binding, however, top motor does not work, pistons are disconnected to allow manual operation.  All chrome and trim is present and duplicate pieces are included, too.  All glass is in good condition, no cracks, all window mechanisms work smoothly.

Floors are perfect, body mounts are solid, frame is perfect, body panels fit well. There is surface rust in spots but NO rot.  I replaced the trunk lid, which was heavily pitted, with another  of same year and primed, painted it with left over paint, just to prevent rust. You can have the original if you wish. Sills are in great shape as is trunk floor.

Car has had fresh oil and filter change, fresh tune up.  Motor runs whisper quiet, always maintains 40 lbs of oil pressure.  The Fluid Torque transmission shifts perfectly and operates  as an automatic. Clutch is required to engage Drive or Reverse, after you can just go and stop as with an automatic without using the clutch. Occasionally the throw out bearing does do some squealing as if running dry. This is not your ordinary Fluid Drive Transmission but, instead, an expensive factory option.

Car has amazing power and fast smooth acceleration.  Steering and front end are tight, not sloppy. Brakes have been rebuilt and stop perfectly.  Exhaust system, while not new, is quiet. Tires look almost new but, unfortunately,  were purchased a long time ago and are developing hard spots and dry rot. Definitely need replacement.

Check the prices on restored models and you will see these cars selling for 40K or more!

You will not find a better restoration candidate or a more desirable antique car.

I DO have the title as well as many previous owners' registration cards.  Purchaser is responsible for pick up and transportation of vehicle.  A $500 deposit is required within 24 ours of auction end. Balance is due within 7 days.

I have described this car as accurately as possible, based on my many years of experience working on antique cars. I am not selling the vehicle with any guarantees, stated or implied.

Peugeot's American future looks dead, but Stellantis intends to keep all brands alive

Fri, Feb 12 2021

The years-old promise of a Peugeot return in the U.S. is looking bleaker by the second. Peugeot said the French brand would come back to sell cars in the U.S. five years ago, but now that FCA and PSA have transitioned to one Stellantis, that promise is looking a lot shakier. This news comes via a report from Car and Driver. When queried about Peugeot, Carlos Tavares, Stellantic CEO, offered this in response: “For the time being, I don't think that is part of the things that we want to prioritize for the next time window," Tavares said. "I think it's better that we funnel the talent, the capital, and the engineering capability of our Stellantis company to the existing brands to improve what needs to be improved and to accelerate where we need to accelerate, because we already have a very strong presence in this market." Tavares hasnÂ’t ruled it out entirely, but any kind of a Peugeot American renaissance is being pushed onto the backburner.  In good news for American brands, though, Tavares expressed great interest in keeping them all. Chrysler was the most worrisome of the bunch, as it only sells the aging 300 sedan and Pacifica minivan variants. Nevertheless, Tavares sees Chrysler as one of the “three historical pillars of Stellantis” and is eager “to give this brand a future.” Specifically, Tavares sees a high-tech future for the once-great American car company. Motor Trend reported on what Tavares spoke about in a call with the media. "It needs to rebound,” Tavares said. “We could think about what could be the next technologies in the automotive industry.” The obvious hint here is electrification and greater autonomy. Chrysler could theoretically become StellantisÂ’ electric showcase brand. ItÂ’s partway there with the Pacifica Hybrid PHEV minivan, but thereÂ’s still a long way to go for it to become the conglomerate's tech pillar. And then thereÂ’s Dodge and its powerful but emissions-heavy lineup. "We have the technology to deliver the torque, dynamics, and acceleration feeling, while also dramatically reducing the emissions," Tavares said. The Hellcat canÂ’t have a window-shattering 6.2-liter supercharged V8 forever, but it looks like Stellantis is at least committed to keeping the performance of DodgeÂ’s current lineup. Fiat seeking $10B in financing to buy Chrysler

Thu, 30 May 2013

As Fiat looks to become the full owner of Chrysler, all it has standing in its way is the retiree trust of the United Auto Workers, which currently holds the remaining 41.5 percent of the company as the result of the Pentastar's bankruptcy deal. The Detroit News is reporting that that Fiat is currently talking to numerous banks in an attempt to raise around $10 billion to fund the purchase of Chrysler's remaining stake with enough left over to refinance the debt of both companies. We've known that Fiat has been working to obtain the capital to buy out Chrysler for some time now, but this is the first time we've seen Fiat tip its hand about how much cash it thinks it will need to close the deal.
The first order of business is a legal dispute over the value of the UAW's stake in Chrysler, which the report indicates could cost Fiat around $3.5 billion. The acquisition of remaining shares could happen by this summer, but it sounds like CEO Sergio Marchionne (above) might not be ready for a full merger until next year.
