Texas Classic Cars of Dallas is proud to present this beautiful classic Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe. A great car in itself, this 1968 Imperial Crown Coupe is much different from the rest. This car was ordered with the Mobile Director package, a feature offered only on 1967 and 68 model year Imperials. The Mobile Director basically served as an informal conference lounge in the Crown Coupe. This example is believed to have been part of a military dignitaries' fleet at some time, due to the custom - fitted, well - fabricated flag stands at all four corners.
This Military Blue Director Crown Imperial is at home during the photo shoot at the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum. Be sure you visit the historic Flight Museum if you find yourself in Dallas, Texas.

The following video is a 1967 Chrysler television advertisement showcasing a Chrysler Imperial Crown Coupe with the Mobile Director package.
From stem to stern, this stately automobile measures at 18 feet, 8.5 inches. It rides on its factory 15-inch wheels wrapped in 3-band-whitewall poly-bias tires all around for a vintage look. The tires are in very good condition. This is a car that can be driven. It steers, stops and handles very nicely.
The exterior is finished in its correct Military Blue metallic paint, showcasing one previous re-paint. The chrome and bright work show very well, with some minor pitting on pot metal I will detail in the photographs. Most of this car's smaller trim is high quality stainless steel. The paint itself shows very well, with a few minor imperfections.
Open the doors to luxury.
The Mobile Director was basically designed for the busy executive who must continue to work while he travels. It also serves as an informal conference lounge in the Crown Coupe. It was offered for only two model years (67,68). Different sources show production numbers at either 71, 81, or 172 for both years combined. This is one very rare car.
The Mobile Director features a reclining-back passenger seat that pivots 180 degrees to face the rear along with several accompanying features.
The folding table pivots to any of four different positions.
There is also a portable Tensor reading lamp that conveniently plugs into any of four cigar lighter sockets. The table, supported by a sturdy chrome-plated pillar, can be pivoted to the right, left, and forward. It converts into a padded armrest between the two front seats. Extended, the table opens out to twice its original size. A lever on the table swivel support permits table height adjustments.
This is a very comfortable interior. The features in this car are functional. The push button factory AM/FM Stereo is hidden in a dash compartment door. The push-button air conditioning controls are also right at hand.
The Auto Pilot (Cruise Control) is functional.
The air conditioning works as it should.
The pearlescent blue Silhouette-grain leather upholstery is in very good condition, showing its age with some cracking. It is still very pliable with years of use left. It appears the front seating originally had head rests.
The exterior Military Blue paint is in exceptional condition, complimented by the factory-optioned Antique White Vinyl Top. There is more than one commander on air fore bases and the only car that had a white top was the wing commanders car. This was because in the case of an attack on the base, our troops would know to look for the car with the white top knowing that the wing commander was in it.
The vinyl top is in excellent condition.
The original build sheet is shown in a few photos above. You can clearly see the Mobile Director designation.
Under the hood is the 440 big block V8. This is the correct engine for this car, paired with the 727 Torque Flite Automatic Transmission. The engine compartment features an array of factory options including power brakes, cruise control, power steering, and air conditioning.
The original trim identification plate is intact and legible.
Further inspection of the engine compartment will show you solid original sheet metal throughout the firewall, inner fenders, and core support.
The padded dash is in excellent condition with absolutely no cracks. The dash instrumentation is clear and bright, with original bright work throughout. The steering wheel is also in good condition, with some cracking that isn't too noticeable. This car is also equipped with the automatic dimming headlamps.
These vintage flag mounts are very unique and robust.
The odometer reading of 99,005 miles is believed original to this car.
The trunk features an electric glove-box mounted release button, paired with the hazard light / flasher button. The trunk itself features the original paneling, mat, and is in very good condition, complete with courtesy lighting along with the original jacking equipment & full-sized spare tire & wheel.
There is some rust showing along the inner trunk lid's lip edge, photographed above. You cannot see this from the exterior. The original jacking equipment is in place along with the spare tire/wheel. The jacking equipment resides behind the paneling shown above.
There are a few flaws in the paint, shown above. Altogether, a very attractive car.
The undercarriage features Chrysler's Torsionaire suspension along with front disc brakes and the 8 3/4 inch rear end. The factory flooring and framework is solid throughout. There is some isolated rust-through in front of the front wheels, photographed above.
Enjoy the remaining photos and again feel free to contact Dave at 214-213-7072 or Maris at 214-616-2317 with any questions. This is your opportunity to own a very rare piece of Chrysler's history, a 1968 Chrysler Crown Imperial Mobile Directors Coupe.
The fender ends feature turn signal indicator lights.
The factory cruise control is functional.

The 2015 200 is the automotive equivalent of an ugly duckling turning into a swan. In 2004, Chrysler's fullsize offerings were the lamentable Concorde and 300M - a pair of bloated, plasticky barges that hadn't received significant attention since before the dawn of the new millennium. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Chrysler unveiled its new 300, which rode on the bones of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class and had the look of a Rolls-Royce with a thug-life upbringing. It was cool.
It's been known by many names: the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, Plymouth Voyager, Chrysler Voyager, Lancia Voyager, Volkswagen Routan, Ram Cargo Van... but the bottom line is that Chrysler's minivans have defined the segment for 30 years now. In fact, Chrysler says it has sold 13 million of them since 1983, helped along by the Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan that accounted for nearly half of all minivans sold in the United States just last year. So to celebrate this three-decade milestone, the Auburn Hills auto has announced a pair of new special editions. The 2014 Chrysler Town & Country 30th Anniversary Edition starts the Touring-L trim and includes such special touches as 17-inch wheels, unique badging, available Granite Crystal Pearl paint and an interior decked out in black Alcantara and Nappa leather, piano black trim and all the optional bells and whistles bundled in. The 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary Edition, meanwhile, starts off with either the SE or SXT trims and also upgrades with 17-inch alloys as well as color-keyed mirrors and an interior with silver stitching, piano black trim, power everything, and of course, those special badges.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating infotainment units from Harman Kardon, which produces FCA's Uconnect, to determine if Harman Kardon systems used by other companies are also vulnerable to hackings. Researchers discovered a hole in the cellular connection to the Uconnect infotainment in a Jeep Cherokee. They were able to exploit it to gain access to the vehicle's brakes, radio, and other systems. In the wake of the hack, FCA pledged to send out 1.4 million USB drives to update the software. Politicians also attacked the automaker for not reporting the problem sooner, and NHTSA opened an investigation to find whether the fix worked. INVESTIGATION Subject : Software security vulnerability Date Investigation Opened: JUL 29, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: EQ15005 Component(s): EQUIPMENT All Products Associated with this Investigation Equipment Brand Name Part No. or Model No.Production Dates HARMAN KARDON R3R4 - Details Manufacturer: HARMAN INTERNATIONAL SUMMARY: On July 23, 2015, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) submitted a safety recall report to NHTSA concerning a software security defect condition in approximately 1.4 million model year (MY) 2013 through 2015 vehicles equipped with Uconnect 8.4A (RA3) and 8.4AN (RA4) radios manufactured by Harman Kardon (Recall 15V-461). According to FCA, software security vulnerabilities in the recalled vehicles could allow unauthorized third-party access to, and manipulation of, networked vehicle control systems. Unauthorized access or manipulation of the vehicle control systems could reduce the driver?s control of the vehicle increasing the risk of a crash with an attendant increased risk of injury to the driver, other vehicle occupants, and other vehicles and their occupants within proximity to the affected vehicle. This EQ is being opened to obtain information from the supplier of Chrysler Uconnect units to determine the nature and extent of similarities in other infotainment products provided to other vehicle manufacturers. If sufficient similarities exist, the investigation will examine if there is cause for concern that security issues exist in other Harman Kardon products. Related Video:
