BUY IT NOW, OR MAKE AN OFFER. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION. Vehicle is sold AS-IS without warranty of any kind. Inspections are welcome. VIN YM41K73204006 decoded-----> Y-Imperial, M-Crown, 4-#of doors, 1-Sedan, K-440 engine, 7-1967, 3-Jefferson Plant, 204006-serial number. Driver quality Imperial, 1 of 2193 Sedans built in 1967. Total Imperial production in 1967: 14,391. This car was purchased new in Oxnard, CA apparently it has spent it's entire life on the west coast. NO RUST. Nice straight body, with a recent BLACK paint job, probably considered a '10 footer'. Clear coat was peeling from a previous paint job. Check out the pictures. This one has the Crown trim package, factory A/C is all there (needs work and charging) but the compressor is free and the clutch cycles when powered directly. Original 440 engine with factory AFB carb, cold blooded but runs smooth when warmed up. New battery. Fresh spark plugs, wires, cap rotor and points. Non-factory dual exhaust with new mufflers. Looks like the transmission has been rebuilt (has rebuilder tag) and I assume it is the original trans. Mileage shows 94XXX, but I can't confirm it's not 194XXX. Just replaced the strut rod bushings along with sway bar end bushings, also installed HD rear shocks. Rear cross (panhard?) bar needs new bushings. 1967 was first year to have disc brakes. First year without a frame, has 'uni-body' construction. Drives well, (for a 46 year old car) I take it out 3-4 times a week, locally and on the freeway. I replaced all 4 tires (could probably use an alignment). All 4 hubcaps included as well as proper spare and bumper jack. Trunk is huge and has newer carpeting and spare tire cover. Trunk light works. The trunk has a vacuum operated release, push button is in glove box. Brakes function, not real touchy, I have replaced the master cylinder. 3 of 4 door windows operate (I think the window switches need cleaning), both vent windows (electric) need work, but you can hear the motors. All glass is in great condition. All the trim (except the hood eagle) is there and in good condition. All the gauges work, speedometer works as does the odometer. The trip odometer does not. Factory radio missing and the plate had been opened to accept a new (rectangle) style radio, so that's what is filling the space. Electric antenna works when powered directly, (no power to switch?). Has the 'tilt-telescopic' steering wheel. Head and tail lights work, but no dash lights ( I think it's the dimmer switch) the turn signals work if you hold the lever in position (the cancel cam is broken) all door courtesy lights and the overhead dome light work. The 2 rear seat reading lights do not work. Interior is nice, (needs a good cleaning) door panels, carpet and headliner are nice. All the walnut trim needs refreshing, but it's all there. Needs door weather stripping. ---> All around it's a nice car needing TLC and patience to get all the finicky interior electrical gremlins in order. Comes with a reprinted service manual and numerous spare interior trim pieces. Has California 'black' plates and is registered current. Clear title in my name. Car is in So-California, Riverside County, (easy access to I-10 and State Hwy 60) I can help coordinating with your shipper after cleared and complete payment. PayPal used for the $250 non-refundable down payment only, balance in CASH at pick up. ----> No 'shipper over-payment' scams please. Call me at (909) 747-7730 or use the 'ask a question' feature. The vehicle is being sold AS-IS, NO WARRANTY of any kind. NOTE: The car is for sale locally, so I may end the auction at any time. Several Imperial 'officiandos' noticed that the rear window was smaller than those normally found in sedan models. Apparently the window as not an option offered in 1967. The smaller 'privacy' window was available on the LeBaron model. (here's a regular rear window pic: http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1967/SpottersGuide/rear.jpg ) The headliner and window surround look like a factory install to me, there are also 2 reading lights in the rear seat area that are usually only found on LeBarons. Make up your own mind on this story, I make NO claims of it's veracity. NO RESERVE. HIGH BIDDER WINS----> Check out NADA values. http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1967/Chrysler/Imperial/4-Door-Sedan/Values ---> I place the car between Low and Average as far as NADA pricing goes, or between a 4 and a 3 here---> http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/1967/Prices.htm condition---> http://www.imperialclub.com/Yr/Condition.htm you make your own decision. You can drive this car as you complete the restoration, or turn it into whatever is on your mind. I have been questioned about the seats in this car. I did some research and found they are indeed proper for this car. If you look on the fender tag under TRM you see M1D which translates to Blue cloth and vinyl. here---> http://automotivemileposts.com/imperial1967interiortrim.html Not what I would have chosen, but they are in great condition. These same seats (50-50) were covered in leather as an option on the Crown Hardtops. The passenger side reclines, and both sides have a drop down armrest independent of each other. The back seat has a single, larger armrest in the center. Both seats are electric, and the wiring looks factory to me, (each side has a separate power connection) and each are controlled independent of the other. I MAKE NO CLAIM THAT THIS CAR IS A 'ONE OFF' IMPERIAL, BUT IT DOES SEEM TO HAVE MORE OPTIONS THAN USUALLY FOUND ON THE SEDANS. I'VE ALSO BEEN ASKED IF IT CAME WITH A VINYL TOP. I DON'T KNOW! ---> IF IT EVERY HAD ONE, SOMEONE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF REMOVAL . Use your best judgement as to the rarity regarding this unique Imperial Sedan. There were only 2193 'sedans', total, built in 1967. How many are left? Car is being sold AS-IS without any warranty. BUY IT NOW, OR MAKE AN OFFER. Inspections are welcome, just call to arrange: (909) 747-7730 PLEASE HAVE YOUR FINANCES IN ORDER SHIPPING IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. ---> $250 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of auction end.<--- Full payment due within 7 days. ----> CASH in person or legit Cashier's Check, (we will take to my bank together). Vehicle will not be released until payment has cleared. No shipper 'over payment' scams. |

Ward's announces 10 Best Engines 2015
Wed, Dec 10 2014Ward's Auto has named its 10 Best Engines for 2015, covering a range of powerplants from fuel-sippers to fire-breathers. As with past years, forced-induction reigns supreme, with seven of the ten engines featuring a turbo or supercharger. This year is slightly different, though, as two of the seven blown engines are turbocharged three-cylinder mills, from the Ford Fiesta and Mini Cooper. They're joined by the 2.0-liter turbo four from the Volvo S60, the 1.8-liter turbo four from the Volkswagen Jetta and the 2.0-liter boxer from the Subaru WRX. BMW and Chrysler were the only marques to be named to this year's list twice, with the electric motor from the i3 joining the Mini's three-pot, and the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 in the Ram 1500 and Jeep Grand Cherokee repping the diesel crowd, alongside a certain supercharged monster. Hyundai also took a prize with a zero-emissions powertrain, with the Tucson FCV's 100-kilowatt fuel cell making the list (apparently Ward's is quite generous with what it deems an "engine"). Rounding out the list are two Autoblog favorites, each displacing 6.2 liters, but producing their power very differently. On the one hand, Chevrolet's overhead-valve, 455-horsepower V8, found in the Corvette, makes its power the old fashioned way. And in the other corner, we have one of the most exciting engines of the year – the 707-hp, 6.2-liter, supercharged Hellcat V8, featured so prominently in the Dodge Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat. "We spend a lot of time reading the powertrain tea leaves throughout the auto industry, and we're proud that this year's list is a microcosm of all the latest innovation coming from automakers," said Ward's Editor-in-Chief Drew Winter in a statement. "It's not just a list for enthusiasts or for environmentalists," he says. "There's something for every vehicle shopper and every budget. All the powertrains on this list deliver a first-rate driving experience," Winter added. Scroll down for the full list from Ward's, and let us know which engines you think belong and which should have been included in this year's rankings. Almost 70 percent of FCA-PSA Groupe models to ride on two PSA platforms
Sun, Dec 22 2019With the merger between PSA Groupe and Fiat Chrysler having been officially announced this week, we still don't know where everything will settle once the process concludes. We covered the catalog of models herded by the combined company's 12 brands, all of which will remain for now. Profound changes must be afoot somewhere, though, else there'd be no reason for the tie-up. Automotive News has a report on one of the big moves, writing that "more than two-thirds of [PSA-FCA] production would be concentrated on just two platforms." Around 2.6 million cars built by the combined company would sit on PSA's Common Modular Platform, also known as the EMP1, for B-segment city cars, entry-level and mid-range C-segment sedans, and compact crossovers. Three million vehicles would ride on the EMP2 architecture intended for C- and D-segment cars and higher-end crossovers. Those figures account for around 5.6 of the 8.7 million vehicles the combined company expects to sell annually. AN didn't mention the Giorgio platform that's already spread throughout the FCA kingdom to support numerous current and future offerings like the next-gen Jeep Grand Cherokee, but did write that "larger Jeep models will continue to use FCA underpinnings." The body-on-frame chassis' under Ram trucks and the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator should hold pat. We'll wait for word on the fate of the Compact U.S. Wide platform carrying the Chrysler Voyager and Pacifica and Jeep Cherokee. Dodge products with questionable futures are anyone's guess; we've heard the Dodge Durango, still built on a Mercedes-derived platform it shares with the current Grand Cherokee, could go body-on-frame for the next generation, or die and have the Giorgio-based, three-row Jeep Grand Cherokee take its place. More mystery comes with the long-lived LA and LD platforms in the big sedan and coupe trio Chrysler and Dodge still milk quite successfully. And if there were ever a time for the Dodge Journey – last reported as a Giorgio recipient – to modernize or die, we don't know when that time is. Although FCA platforms have been designed with alternative powertrains in mind, AN says the PSA Groupe architectures "are more modern than FCA's equivalent platforms." After PSA acquired GM's Opel/Vauxhall division, the French company didn't waste time moving the Anglo-German products to in-house platforms, helping to put the formerly money-losing operations into the black in just 18 months.
FCA CEO Manley says alliances are still possible but aren't necessary
Mon, Aug 5 2019DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Chief Executive has a message for Renault SA and other would-be partners: We are happy to talk, but we can go it alone. "Strategically, we have a solid future and clear plans that are being invested in and are underway now," Mike Manley said during a session with reporters the day after the company released better than expected second-quarter results. "That isn't to say if there is a better future through an alliance or partnership or merger we wouldnÂ’t be open and interested to it." Fiat Chrysler is open to re-starting merger negotiations with French automaker Renault, Manley said, but added the French car maker is not the only potential partner to gain scale or plug gaps in Fiat Chrysler's technology or vehicle lineup. "To say are they the only opportunity, the answer to that question would be a definitive ‘No,Â’" Manley said. Fiat Chrysler in June withdrew a $35 billion merger proposal with Renault after French government officials intervened in the talks and sought to delay a decision on the deal. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Renault and Nissan are trying again to reshape their alliance and resolve disagreements that helped to derail the merger talks with Fiat Chrysler. Fiat Chrysler has a commercial vehicle partnership with French rival Peugeot SA, and the two companies discussed a broader combination before Fiat Chrysler made its offer to Renault, people familiar with the situation have said. Manley said automakers are not the only potential partners. "There are cooperations that can help in specific technologies. There are cooperations as we think about the consumer-car interface," he said. "You could see collaborations that never would be there in the past." Fiat Chrysler's North American business is strong thanks to Ram trucks and Jeep SUVs, but in other markets the automaker faces continued challenges. The company is overhauling its mass-market business in Europe, which is anchored by the Fiat brand. Fiat Chrysler's Europe, Middle East and Africa operations were marginally profitable in the second quarter and achieved 1.8% profit margin in 2018. Manley has set a goal of 3% operating margins, well short of the 10% margins the company forecast for North America.
