Rubber suspension bushings have dried out some from the Florida heat, where this car has spent the majority of its life. Not a serious issue, just makes for some creaks and groans sometimes. A little silicone spray during an oil change quiets them down."

My wife and I bought this top of the line minivan in 2010, while in Florida.  It had 93,694 well taken care of miles from the original owner, a doctor living on Merritt Island. This car has never been driven in snow, we spent our winters in Florida. It runs well, doesn't use any oil between changes, it's good solid reliable transportation that still gets an average of 24mpg on long trips, and I drive a steady 70-75 on trips.  I love this minivan, it handles and accellerates like a sports car.

However, now that I'm widowed,  I don't need, and can't afford, to keep two vehicles on the road, so the minivan has to go.

The exterior is a beautiful Champagne Pearl clear coat. The interior is grey leather that's in beautiful condition. Tons of storage compartments. The headliner was loose when we bought the car and still is. The 4 CD Changer has never worked since we owned it, nor has the Memory - radio/mirrors/drvr's seat function. You won't find a cleaner, non smoker, good looking van than this one , A/C ice cold, All scheduled maintenance, Excellent condition for the mileage and vintage, Fully loaded with all the goodies, Looks & drives great, Never seen snow, Non-smoker, Seats like new, except for the front passenger seat which is begining to show a little wear. Nothing serious. I've given them a monthly Lexol treatment which has kept them in glove soft condition. Clear Title in hand, Well maintained, Over the past few years we have replaced the A/C condensor, the battery and the tires. It's riding on smooth quiet Cooper CS4 Touring tires that are a little over three years old with 19,000 miles on them (They have an 80,000 mile tread warranty) and has a recent (10/31/2012) 75 month battery. Car has the optional tow package but no trailer hitch was ever installed so the the transmission has never been stressed. In fact because of the optional oil coolers and larger radiator that come with the package, this engine and transmission are in better condition.

Treasury says auto bailout tally drops to $20.3 billion

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

In December, the US Treasury announced that it was going to sell all of its shares in General Motors within 12 to 15 months. The first tranche of the 500-million total shares was purchased by GM, which took 200 million of them at $27.50 per share. That price represents an eight-percent premium over the market price at the time. The remaining 300 million shares will be sold "through various means in an orderly fashion."
Of the $418 billion disbursed through the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), a report in Automotive News indicates that "about 93 percent" has been paid back, and the latest figures put Treasury's loss from the program overall at $55.58 billion. That's a $4.1 billion improvement on the last figure, when the expected red ink added up to $59.68 billion. The auto industry's portion of that loss is estimated to be $20.3 billion, a 16-percent drop from the earlier estimate of $24.3 billion.
The Treasury now owns 19 percent of GM, but if all goes well, there will be no more cause for anyone to utter "Government Motors" by the end of Q1 next year. A loss of some kind is still expected, however. Although GM's stock price is close to $29 at the time of this writing, that's still $4 below its IPO price and well below the $72 share price necessary for the government to come out even on its GM investment. On second thought, maybe the ribbing will continue.

The next steps automakers could take after sales drop again in April

Tue, May 2 2017

DETROIT (Reuters) - Major automakers on Tuesday posted declines in U.S. new vehicle sales for April in a sign the long boom cycle that lifted the American auto industry to record sales last year is losing steam, sending carmaker stocks down. The drop in sales versus April 2016 came on the heels of a disappointing March, which automakers had shrugged off as just a bad month. But two straight weak months has heightened Wall Street worries the cyclical industry is on a downward swing after a nearly uninterrupted boom since the Great Recession's end in 2010. Auto sales were a drag on U.S. first-quarter gross domestic product, with the economy growing at an annual rate of just 0.7 percent according to an advance estimate published by the Commerce Department last Friday. Excluding the auto sector the GDP growth rate would have been 1.2 percent. Industry consultant Autodata put the industry's seasonally adjusted annualized rate of sales at 16.88 million units for April, below the average of 17.2 million units predicted by analysts polled by Reuters. General Motors Co shares fell 2.9 percent while Ford Motor Co slid 4.3 percent and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV's U.S.-traded shares tumbled 4.2 percent. The U.S. auto industry faces multiple challenges. Sales are slipping and vehicle inventory levels have risen even as carmakers have hiked discounts to lure customers. A flood of used vehicles from the boom cycle are increasingly competing with new cars. The question for automakers: How much and for how long to curtail production this summer, which will result in worker layoffs? To bring down stocks of unsold vehicles, the Detroit automakers need to cut production, and offer more discounts without creating "an incentives war," said Mark Wakefield, head of the North American automotive practice for AlixPartners in Southfield, Michigan. "We see multiple weeks (of production) being taken out on the car side," he said, "and some softness on the truck side." Rival automakers will be watching each other to see if one is cutting prices to gain market share from another, he said, instead of just clearing inventory. INVESTORS DIGEST BAD NEWS Just last week GM reported a record first-quarter profit, but that had almost zero impact on the automaker's stock. The iconic carmaker, whose own interest was once conflated with that of America's, has slipped behind luxury carmaker Tesla Inc in terms of valuation.

Chrysler Airflow Vision concept pairs today's platform with yesterday's name

Thu, Jan 2 2020

Fiat-Chrysler has a number of notable announcements at this year's CES, including a formal announcement of its plug-in hybrid plans and branding, as well as the North American debut of the Fiat Centoventi concept. But it's also bringing something new and forward-looking to the show in the form of the slippery-looking Chrysler Airflow Vision concept. If that name sounds familiar to you, it's because the Airflow name was used on some streamlined and highly distinctive-looking Chrysler products of the 1930s. One thing both the old and new Airflows share is a slippery shape. The new Airflow is nothing but soft organic curves, looking like the automotive equivalent of Disney/Marvel robotic hero Baymax. It even has spats that cover the wheels, which are translucent to show off the big, copper-accented wheels underneath. While not unattractive, the modern Airflow does look a bit generic compared to the bold original, since so many modern EVs have a rounded rounded shape that's undoubtedly aerodynamic, but also unexciting. Maybe Chrysler should give it big hood strakes to evoke the stretched grille of the '30s Airflow. Peel away the pearly white exterior and you have a blend of future and contemporary technology. The interior shows off pedestal mounted seats swathed in suede and leather. The dashboard is minimalist and curvy like the exterior, and it features many screens as is the modern custom. In the center are dual displays for infotainment and climate controls like in an Audi. A small instrument screen sits ahead of the steering wheel, and the passenger gets a screen directly ahead of their seat. Chrysler says a unique feature will be the ability to swipe different menus and functions over to other occupants' screens so they can fiddle with things. Chrysler hasn't explicitly said what powers the Airflow Vision, but it makes mention of using the floor of the Pacifica Hybrid. It could share that van's powertrain, a hybrid V6 arrangement that might even preview the reported electrified all-wheel-drive version. We'll hopefully get more details on the powertrain after the reveal.
