2005 Chrysler Pt Cruiser Convertible 2-door 2.4l on 2040-cars

Year:2005 Mileage:104492

Car was acquired from a relative that was trading it in on a new car last fall, and I offered more than the dealer did for it.  I have just cleaned it up and decided to sell it in the spring - I own several collector and hot rod style cars and this does not really fit in.  I have not driven it very much, but it seems to be in pretty decent driving condition.

From what I can tell everything seems to work OK - top goes down, radio sounds good, drives around the neighborhood nicely.  Tires have perhaps 50-60% life left.  Should be a cute little cruiser for a second car or for a newer driver.  Its pretty cool being a convertible - and should still be easy on gas since it's a 4 cylinder.

It has aftermarket aluminum alloy wheels, and is missing one of the wheel centers - visible in the photos and probably easy to get.

The reserve price is rational, and just in there to protect from low ball prices if I screw up the listing...

I can cut & paste some generic stuff below...not really specific to this particular one but gives you some background on PT Cruisers...

With retro-styling inspired by the 1930s panel vans that were later converted to surf wagons and hot rods, the front-wheel drive 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser mixes classic styling cues with modern fuel efficiency and convenience. The versatile seat arrangement in the PT Cruiser wagon allows for more rear space than most vehicles its size, and the back seats can either fold forward or be removed completely for expanded cargo space and to accommodate objects up to eight feet long. The convertible model, with its power-retractable soft top, also bows to those who want a little more practicality in an open-air car. The top is insulated for a quieter interior, there is a small back seat, and the trunk is reasonably roomy.  The PT Cruiser wagon is available in three trim levels--base, Touring, and Limited. The convertible is only available in base trim.  A 150-horsepower, 2.4L four-cylinder engine is standard on the base and Touring models, while the 180-horsepower, turbocharged 2.4L engine comes standard in the Limited and is optional in the Touring. A five-speed manual is available on the base only, while a four-speed automatic is the transmission of choice in both Touring and Limited models. It is an option on the base.  The entry-level model has power locks and windows and rides on 15-inch steel wheels. Front air bags are standard on all 2005 PT Cruiser wagons.  The 2005 PT Cruiser convertible is outfitted much the same as the base wagon, though it gets power mirrors and driver's seat, air conditioning, 16-inch wheels, and the special cloth seating of the Touring model.

Watch the mechanical symphony of the Chrysler 200 build process

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

For those of you who can't get enough of the 2015 Chrysler 200, The Pentastar put together a short video following its new sedan down the line at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant. As with the best new-baby albums, you'll see it take its first bath, be doted on by family members, put on its first pair of shoes and get all dressed up for an introduction to the world.
The only thing missing are its first words. You can follow it down the line in the video below.

Chrysler names six new board directors

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

Executives may call the shots day-to-day at the world's leading automakers - much as they do at any other corporation - but the ultimate decision-making body remains the board of directors. And Chrysler has just named six new members to its board.
The appointments include Hermann Waldemer, the former CFO of Philip Morris International - the tobacco giant whose Marlboro brand has funneled untold billions into Ferrari as the Scuderia's title sponsor for decades, and on whose board Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne sits. Waldemer replaces Doug Steenland, who came to the Chrysler board after Northwest Airlines (at which he served as CEO) merged with Delta, and whose term on the board expired just days ago.
In addition to the Waldemer appointment, Chrysler has expanded its board with five more seats, all filled by existing group executives. Among them are Reid Bigland (head of US and Canadian sales and of the Ram truck brand), Fiat general counsel Giorgio Fossati, human resources director Michael J. Keegan, Jeep CEO Michael Manley, and group CFO Richard Palmer.

Chrysler museum to open one last time on June 8

Thu, 18 Apr 2013

Due to a lack of funding, Chrysler closed the doors to its Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, MI back in December, but it sounds like the facility will be open next month for one last hurrah. According to a report in the Detroit Free Press, the Chrysler Museum will be open to the public one last time on June 8 for the annual Chrysler Employee Motorsport Association car show.
While the car show will take place in the museum's parking lot from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM on June 8 with a theme dedicated to muscle cars past and present, all attendees will be able to be among the last people to tour the museum - with free admission. The museum is known for housing some of the more important production and concept cars from Chrysler's history. Check out the car show's flyer for more information.
