For sale, 1967 Chrylser Newport from the dry high desert. Just purchased from the original owner with docs including ownercard, warranty and original sales order from Wilson Motors in Butte, MT with a purchase price of $4,141 and all maintenance records. Title is the original issued in 1967. Found the original build sheets (2) under back seat in readable condition. Owner was a fussy engineer and car was mechanically very well maintained. Exterior weathered from outside storage and now it's wearing some great patina. Super solid foundation for a restoration or drive as for great entry level muscle classic - you won't find any better in this price range.  I'll do my best to describe this neat time capsule find below:

Exterior: Paint is original and weathered as shown. No cancer or rot, only minor surface rust. There is no salt used on the roads here in the land of the prickly pear cactus and sagebrush, and we only get 10 inches of total precipitation per year. Basically, every where there was a paint chip low on the car there is now surface rust spots. I've done some bodywork, and when you sand it for repaint, if you sprayed some neutralizer on it you'd be good to go. There's a lot of small specks but only a couple of noticeable spots, one above skirt on each side and one area on trunk deck.(shown) I had the car on a hoist, and there is no rot underneath and I don't see any areas of concern whatsoever - and I know where to look. We just don't see major rust issues here. The skirts were repainted as the originals were lost and a set of maroon ones were sourced and subsequently repainted. Trunk floor has only minor surface rust as shown. Glass is good except windshield, which is cracked as shown. Bumpers are dull and need rechromed. Exterior brightwork is good, only pitting I can see is on tail light bezels. There is a crease on the right front fender and door as shown, and the front fender chrome there is dinged.

Interior: All original. Headliner good, no major issues with door panels or carpet. Seats have splits as shown, with top of rear seat pretty baked. Dash has a few small cracks as shown. Driver armrest has a tear, and minor pitting on interior handles. Seat upholstery is inexpensive for these cars and that alone would bring the car right up to cruise night status. Everything on this car seems to work except radio, right down to all the little inside lights and trunk light. No rodent damage or smells. I've been driving it and even as is it gets compliments.

Mechanical: Here's the great part - mechanically she's up to snuff. Very well maintained, and 10 years ago the original owner took the car to the local Dodge dealership and had everything done the car needed - $2,000 in receipts. It's only had maintenance miles since then. Brakes (including master cylinder) were done, carb, radiator, front timing chain and seal, shocks, alternator, regulator, etc etc. Jump in and go, it's ready. Tires show good tread and no weather cracking but not sure how old they are. Nice throaty dual exhaust with new tail pipes. Original 383 provides grunt and moves this big car with muscle. Trans shifts great. No weird noises whatsoever. Starts, runs, stops, and drives out smooth. Underhood is neat and clean as can be. A few small leaks, nothing major. The fuel was never soured, and I wouldn't hesitate to drive the car as is. Driver window is a bit sloppy, thinking it needs felt runners replaced. Passenger window works great, rear windows are sticky and I didn't force them. This car is original and complete right down to the original jack and hardware still in the trunk.

Pricing/Misc: I got a good deal on this car and you will too. I see this era C body bringing stupid money when they are clean, especially from rust belt bidders. I guess it  must cost much more to fix  cancer and rot than to pay a few hundred bucks to ship a dry rig from the high desert. This car is a solid driveable project car, and it's priced accordingly. It seems that most of these cars for sale are either thrashed to death, or priced in the stratosphere. Reserve price is WAY under $2k for quick sale - great price on a classic 60's big block 2 door hardtop that you can jump in and drive today. Title is clear and open, signed off by original owner and ready to fill your name in as purchaser. There is a lien showing from 1967, but it's been long since paid and I called the DMV and they show no liens and I have a DMV form stating that. GOOD LUCK! Keep in mind that with all cars, THEY LOOK BETTER IN PICTURES THAN IN PERSON.  Keywords Mopar Chrysler 300 New Yorker Dodge Plymouth Mopar Polara Belvedere Roadrunner Charger Coronet Sport Fury Barracuda Challenger 440 400 426 340 Desoto Hemi ram wedge B RB magnum Satellite GTX

FCA earnings improve in first quarter

Thu, Apr 30 2015

Following on the recent global financial releases from Ford and from General Motors for the first quarter of 2015, FCA is now putting out its own numbers, and things look quite good for the company. The automaker posted adjusted earnings before taxes and interest of $895 million, a 22-percent jump from Q1 2014, and net profits of $103 million, a $296-million boost from last year. Revenue was also up 19 percent to $30 billion. Despite the favorable figures, actual worldwide shipments fell slightly by 2 percent to 1.1 million vehicles. FCA is giving some credit for these strong Q1 results to the automaker's performance in the NAFTA region. Shipments grew 8 percent to 633,000 vehicles, and net revenue jumped a strong 38 percent to $18.1 billion. Adjusted earnings reached $672 million, compared to $425 million in 2014. The company especially praised the Jeep Renegade, Chrysler 200, and Ram 1500 for helping the bottom line. The numbers could have been even higher, but the corporation admitted that "higher warranty and recall costs" partially drug things down. For the full year in 2015, FCA expects to ship between 4.8 and 5 million vehicles worldwide and post up to $5 billion in adjusted earnings. There should be about $1.3 billion in net profit, as well. FCA CLOSED Q1 WITH NET REVENUES OF ˆ26.4 BILLION, UP 19% AND ADJUSTED EBIT AT ˆ800 MILLION, UP 22% 30/04/15 FCA closed Q1 with net revenues of ˆ26.4 billion, up 19% and adjusted EBIT at ˆ800 million, up 22%. Net industrial debt was ˆ8.6 billion, up ˆ0.9 billion. Full year guidance confirmed. Worldwide shipments were 1.1 million units, 2% lower than Q1 2014, reflecting strong performance in NAFTA and weak market conditions in LATAM. Jeep's positive performance continued with worldwide shipments up 11% and sales up 22%. Net revenues were up 19% to ˆ26.4 billion (+4% at constant exchange rates, or CER). Adjusted EBIT was ˆ800 million, up ˆ145 million from Q1 2014, with all segments except LATAM posting positive results. The positive impact of foreign exchange translation was offset by negative impacts at a transactional level. Net profit was ˆ92 million, up ˆ265 million compared to the net loss of ˆ173 million in Q1 2014. Net industrial debt was ˆ8.6 billion, up ˆ0.9 billion from year-end mainly due to timing of capital expenditures and working capital seasonality. Liquidity remained strong at ˆ25.2 billion. The Group confirms its full-year guidance.

Fiat talking with banks about buying rest of Chrysler

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

All that stands in the way of Fiat's total ownership of Chrysler is a 41.5-percent stake currently held by the United Auto Workers healthcare trust, but according to SFGate.com, Sergio Marchionne is currently trying to raise the capital to complete the acquisition. The article says that a deal could be completed in as soon as 12 months, and the estimate for the remaining stake could cost Fiat SpA around $2.98 billion.
With a goal of completing the deal by the end of 2014, Marchionne is said to be in talks with various banks to help finance some of the deal. According to the report, the banks have indicated a need for a stronger balance sheet, controlled debt and reserve cash.
Two things that don't seem to be on the table to get the deal completed include issuing new shares to raise the capital or selling a stake in Ferrari. Fiat started with a 20 percent share of Chrysler in June 2009, and it raised its stake up to 58.5 percent in January 2012.

Fiat Chrysler's UAW members ratify new four-year contract

Thu, Dec 12 2019

DETROIT — The United Auto Workers union said on Wednesday that rank-and-file members at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV have voted in favor of a new four-year labor contract with the automaker, helping the Italian-American firm avoid a strike as it works to merge with France's Groupe PSA. FCA and PSA, the maker of Peugeot and Citroen, in October announced a planned $50 billion merger to create the world's fourth-largest automaker. FCA's 47,200 rank-and-file UAW members voted 71% in favor of the new contract. The deal follows contracts the UAW already concluded with larger rivals General Motors and Ford. “Every full-time production employee currently at FCA will be at top rate by the end of this four-year agreement,” Cindy Estrada, UAW vice president and director of the union's FCA department, said in a statement. She added that all temporary workers also have a path to full employment. “We are pleased to have reached a new agreement that allows us to continue our record of adding good-paying UAW-represented jobs,” FCA North America Chief Operating Officer Mark Stewart said in a statement. Ratification of the contract had not been viewed as a sure thing, as union members at FCA in 2015 rejected the first version of a contract. In addition, a federal corruption probe related to embezzlement at the union drew attention. The federal corruption probe led GM to file a racketeering lawsuit against FCA, alleging its rival bribed union officials over many years to corrupt the bargaining process and gain advantages, costing GM billions of dollars. FCA has brushed off the lawsuit as groundless. The contract with GM that was ratified by workers in October followed a 40-day strike in the United States that virtually shuttered GM's North American operations and cost the automaker $3 billion. The UAW has said the contract with FCA included a commitment by the automaker to invest $9 billion, creating 7,900 new jobs over the course of the contract. Of the $9 billion, $4.5 billion was announced earlier this year, to be invested in five plants and creating 6,500 jobs. The investments include $2.8 billion at Warren Truck Assembly plant in Michigan to build a new a plug-in hybrid SUV in 2021 and a potential increase of 1,500 jobs.
