Hi there.  My name is Stephen. I am selling my truly gorgeous 1989 Chrysler New Yorker Landau, with 91,791 miles because, in addition to my daily driver, which is a newer Lexus LS430, I like to occupy my second garage space with something classic & fun as my second car.  I like to take it to local car shows with, as well as to have as a back up if my main car has issues, or have it on hand for visiting family, etc. I actually had one of these new in back in Yonkers, NY, in 1988, which my parents bought for me me as a present when I graduated high school, so for me it was like recapturing my youth; but I am ready to have something else. I now need to make room for my next baby, a project Cadillac Allante I am buying through EBay.  This "classy-beauty" was always a "TEXAS CAR" (no snow/salt/bad weather) and was “GARAGE KEPT” through its entire life by me and the previous ownership.  The seats, carpet, dash, headliner, visors, (headliner & visors were expertly re-covered several years ago and look perfect) vinyl top (The photo of the vinyl top has a strange camera reflection/glare but the top's color & sheen are "just perfect"!), grille w/ crystal hood ornament, weather-strips, paint, and chrome are in truly amazing condition. I am a bit O.C.D. when it comes to my cars, and I can assure you that every single creature feature right down to the power antenna, illuminated entry lighted keyholes in the door/steering column, heated mirrors, low washer/coolant/brake fluid reminders, air suspension, headlight doors, remote fuel filler door, power windows & locks/electric trunk release, power mirrors, dash electronics, cruise control, automatic climate control (with very hot heat and nice cold ac), stereo/cassette with 8 factory Chrysler-Infinity-One Sound speakers, etc. works perfectly. No check engine light or other warning lights are on.  This car even has the original factory floor mats.  It has a brand new alternator, brand new ac compressor, ac pressure switch, receiver/dryer, expansion valve, brand new starter, starter relay, coolant fan, coolant fan relay, and a new battery (the biggest/best one AutoZone sells). It also has lots and lots of tread left on the nice matched whitewall tires, front CV axles (both sides), alignment, tire rotation & balance, coolant hoses & antifreeze flush, fuel injection service, spark plugs & cap-rotor-wires, serpentine and ac belts, ignition coil, air filter, fuel filter, left rear air shock (left side began to leak air causing the suspension pump to run, but the right side is fine),  and much, much more.  Always serviced on time (oil/fluid changes, etc.). Comes with the original owners manual & delivery flyers/papers, original window sticker (with tax & fees, this car was over $25,000 25 years ago "in 1989"), leatherette glove box folio, demonstrator cassette, Vintage Over sized 1989 Chrysler New Yorker Full Color Showroom sales brochure, 24k gold and Crystal-Key (I actually have a second, new in original dealer packaging 24k gold plated Crystal-key that I was going to keep as a souvenir, but if you would like to have it, you can), factory locking wire wheel cover key (it is kept in a little Chrysler-logo black leatherette tool kit that I picked up somewhere and liiks nice in the trunk), 2 additional original Chrysler black rubber grip door/ignition keys + original 2 Chrysler glove box/trunk keys.  She was detailed inside & out at Mister Car Wash late last year.  This car is FULLY LOADED and  DOES have the very cool EVIC overhead digital information display (outside temp, MPG, distance to empty, trip computer, and lots of messages like headlamps on, time/date, compass, door/trunk ajar, washer, coolant, brake fluid low, and on and on.... *VERY AHEAD OF ITS TIME*), rear headphone jacks, articulating headrests, memory seat with electric recliners, electric trunk pull down, electro-chromatic automatic dimming rear view mirror (a nice Chrysler dealer installed option at that time), lighted vanity mirrors, cup holders, and a whole lot more.  Undercarriage is SUPERB.  I have always used Shell 93 octane premium fuel.  She has the original Chrysler windshield (one tiny, tiny star on the passenger side which was repaired professionally by Safelight Glass).  The car was in a minor accident about 5 years ago and was expertly repaired through my insurance company State Farm.  The windows have a medium-light tint, very nicely done.  This did & will continue to keep the interior cool and from fading. This car can be used as a daily driver with no problem, or can continued to be kept for classic; but either way, I really hope she will become someone’s pride and joy, just as she was to me.  It currently has Texas  Antique License Plates that do not go with the car. This car is certainly among the best preserved Chrysler New Yorkers in the world.  The seats are among the most soft & comfortable seating ever to be put into a passenger car (even my Lexus LS430 is not nearly as comfy as this car), and it the New Yorker was way ahead of its time in the area of eighties hi-tech and was one of the most plush & luxurious cars ever to hit the road, but, you probably know that already if you are viewing this car.  Car comes with years and years of service records.  This being said, you will find a tiny ding or scratch here and there.  I say this because it is a 25 year old car and I am not implying that she just rolled off the assembly line.  This car is being offered locally, so I reserve the right to remove it from EBay if someone buys it locally first.  If you want her don’t wait long.  THIS CAR IS BEING SOLD “AS IS WHERE IS”!  There is no warranty or guarantee expressed or implied whatsoever. Please feel free to contact me to arrange an in-person or third party inspection and test drive.  I will work with you and your transporter if the car is to be shipped or this car can be driven home, across the country IN MY OPINION.  FYI, Car has no odors at all, smoke or otherwise.  If you like this model of car, this one should be yours.  I have priced it very very fairly for it's condition.  Honestly, I have "spared no expense" on this cars purchase and upkeep.  I loved and babied this car and tried to keep it PERFECT!!!  When it needed something, ANYTHING, I did it and did it right!!!  What I am selling it for is nowhere near what I have in it, but I never get out of my pet cars what I put in, it was just fun to have her for a while.  No out of country buyers, no scams (I am aware of all of them).  Just plain cash or certified funds on delivery. I have the title in my name, in hand ready to go.  Serious inquirers can email me through EBay for my phone number for text or conversation.  Thanks for looking, Respectfully, Stephen   BTW, "PEOPLE ALWAYS LOOK AND COMMENT TO ME ON WHAT A UNIQUE AND PRISTINE CAR THIS IS NOW THEY WILL JUST BE SAYING IT TO YOU!"

Junkyard Gem: 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser Dream Cruiser Series 1

Sun, Feb 23 2020

It has become fashionable to hate the PT Cruiser these days, but Chrysler really hit a home run with the idea of a retro-looking, Neon-based vehicle that — legally speaking — qualified as a light truck according to American regulations and thus didn't need to comply with the costly fuel-economy and crash-safety rules applied to cars. PT Cruisers sold like crazy for the first half of the 2000s and even developed something of a cult followingÂ… but familiarity bred contempt once every parking lot and traffic jam in the country filled up with cute-looking retrowagons. I didn't start seeing many of these cars trucks in junkyards until about a decade ago, at which point the Chrysler section of every yard instantly became about 50% PT Cruisers. Most of the time, I ignore them as car-graveyard background noise, but the rare turbocharged Cruisers or those with manual transmissions can catch my eye, as well as those with weird body kits. The more interesting special-edition PT Cruisers also seem worth documenting as historically significant Junkyard Gems, and here's one of the rarest of all: a Dream Cruiser Series 1, found last summer in Colorado. Inspired by Detroit's Woodward Dream Cruise, the '02 Dream Cruiser Series 1 was the first of many special-edition PT Cruisers (if you're going to collect them all, you'll need to find a Pacific Coast Highway Edition, a Sunset Boulevard Edition, a Woodie Edition, and all the subsequent Dream Cruiser Series cars). All the Series 1 Dream Cruisers came in metallic Inca Gold paint, allegedly inspired by the paint on the 1998 Pronto Cruiser concept car. Chrysler planned to build 7,500 of these cars trucks, but I cannot verify actual production numbers. This is the first I've seen in a self-service wrecking yard, at any rate. The Dream Cruiser Series 1 got leather seats and interesting gold-trimmed interior surfaces. This one looks a bit rough inside, but we can assume it was glorious when new. Resale value on the PT Cruiser has cratered in recent years, so even a runner has little chance of evading the cold steel jaws of the crusher, once it starts to rust. Because every performance upgrade you can do with a Neon can also be done to a PT Cruiser, it would be possible to swap all the relevant mechanical bits from an SRT-4 Neon into a snazzy-looking Dream Cruiser and have the quickest PT Cruiser in your timezone. You should do this. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences.

Dodge not being dropped by Chrysler, CEO reaffirms

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

Dodge isn't going anywhere. Despite some rumor and speculation over the future of the crosshair grille and the cars that wear it, Dodge brand boss, Tim Kuniskis, sat down with TheDetroitBureau.com, explaining that the marque isn't going anywhere. His sentiments echo those of SRT boss Ralph Gilles, who told a group of enthusiasts in July that "Dodge is here to stay!"
Dodge's death won't be "a part of a master plan to consolidate brands," Kuniskis told TheDetroitBureau.com. Instead, the brand, which is ultimately under the command of Fiat/Chrysler CEO, Sergio Marchionne, will likely ditch some of its badge-engineered models, like the Dodge Grand Caravan. A more focused Dodge, which was something Gilles has already hinted at, will likely see it exploring areas of the market that haven't been exploited by other Chrysler brands.
Kuniskis, not surprisingly, wasn't willing to delve into any detailed product plans, telling TDB that the size of the brand's lineup "remains to be seen." Regardless of how big the brand actually ends up being (it is presently Chrysler's volume brand - and not by a little), hopefully the statements from Kuniskiss can put the rumors of a Dodge closure to bed.

Canada bailed out GM, Chrysler without really knowing what they were getting into

Tue, Dec 2 2014

The Auditor General of Canada recently issued a report that makes at least one thing clear: it doesn't know how effective Canadian government loans given to General Motors and Chrysler in 2009 were in ensuring the viability of both companies. That year, the Canadian and Ontario governments dished out $10.8 billion CAD ($9.6B US) to GM and $2.9 billion CAD ($2.6B US) to Chrysler, but hadn't yet sorted out precisely how the funds were to be used before disbursing them. This happened in spite of the fact that, according to a piece in Bloomberg, the loans weren't meant to be handed out until authorities were clear on the manufacturers' plans for reorganization. In fact, federal officials hadn't finished establishing the concessions made by all the involved parties, the pension liabilities, nor the long-term soundness of the automakers' financial positions. On top of that, apparently it didn't keep close tabs on the money after loaning it: the report says that $1B CAD should have been applied to GM Canada pension plans but was instead given to GM to use. Chrysler repaid $1.7 billion, while GM handed back $3.8 billion and Bloomberg believes the feds in Ottawa still own 110 million shares of The General, which, at the stock price as of writing, would be good for another $3.9 billion. Those were mad, bad days, though, and we're not sure what point the report serves, other than to say, "Oh, by the way...."
