1967 Chrysler New Yorker Garage Kept Two Owner Rock Solid Coupe on 2040-cars
Wallkill, New York, United States

Here we have a 1967 new yorker that I purchased from a past neighbor of mine.I remember this car when I was a kid growing up. Bob is 81 now and getting his affairs in order, none of his kids want the old clunker and bob knowing that I have a love affair with vintage cars contacted me to see if I was interested in her.I went to his house and sure enough there it sits.Bob tells me that he is the second owner and the miles that are on the odometer are true miles and not turned over but there is no proof . Bob has always kept it registered and insured but has not used it in a few years.truth be told, I purchased this car for the sole purpose of making a profit. My love affair is with 50's cars [I have two] and prewar packards. This garage kept chrysler has no rot and I don't believe it ever did but it does have some small bubbling under the vinyl top on the drivers side that I will show in some pictures. There is none around the rear window. The car has been repainted for reasons unknown and the drivers door has a small area of previous body work-vinyl top is still in great condition-britework is still pleasing to the eye.interior is very nice with wear on the drivers seat as well as the rear seat that I will show in some pictures. The headliner is excellent with no tears or sag and the dash has some cracks and splits. The steering wheel is fine with no splits. factory radio unfortunately has been replaced . Original wheels and hubcaps M.I.A . Now if I were to keep this I would go thru this front to back-pull the wheels and redo brakes/wheel cylinders/repack wheel bearings/change brake lines/hoses/ all belts/coolant hoses/ fuel lines/ tune up/ inspect rear axle bearings/ujoints/ transmission flush and filter change/flush radiator with a new thermostat/flush power steering system/ grease every fitting/ inspect water pump/ etc etc. If your looking to get into a vintage car cheaply this might be you.Now for all you folks that ask me if I think the car will make it to your destination if you decide to fly in and drive it home my answer is your nut's-I did that once when I purchased an old lincoln from the carlise pa fall swap meet. since i was only 235 miles away I chanced it since the car was in excellent shape with low miles. well about 100 miles into the trip the car started to backfire under load-I did make it home but swore I would never do that again.plan on trailering this please!! I took the car for a short ride and the car goes down the road nicely-it is cold blooded and needs to warm up,but once it is ready to go it runs nice/shifts/stops nicely and goes down the road straight. This car needs to be used and it still needs some odds and ends such as the rear windows don't go down but the motors are working so the rear panels need to be pulled to see whats going on. The drivers window goes down but needs a little help going back up.The bottom line is this car needs some work but you can use it and work on it as needed.I will be posting pictures later on this evening. if you would rather talk then email[I prefer talking] my # is 845-863-6327 Steve. Now I have plenty of room to store this car until you can find a reasonable/knowledgable shipper-no need to panic and find a poor shipper because you think the car needs to be moved quickly-DO YOUR HOMEWORK TO FIND THE RIGHT MOVER!!- I have seen some hacks and butchers from the USHIP WEBSITE so take your time!! no paypal please and ALL CHECKS NEED AMPLE TIME TO CLEAR- clear registration still in bobs name ready to be handed over to the new buyer- a buffing and cleaning will do wonders-- I have more pics available-just ask

IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013
Wed, 02 Jan 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
An early gas-electric hybrid was developed by...Exxon?
Tue, Oct 25 2016We're not sure which aspect of Exxon's 1970s-era efforts to develop advanced and electrified powertrains is the most ironic. There's Exxon, that of the Valdez oil spill infamy, being on the leading edge of hybrids and electric vehicles. There's a boat-like Chrysler Cordova getting 27 miles per gallon. And there's the central role a Volkswagen diesel engine plays in that hybrid development. It's all outlined in an article (linked above) by Inside Climate News, and it's an amusing read. Flush with cash and fearing what it thought was peak oil production in the 1970s, Exxon funded a host of new ventures divisions geared to find alternatives to gas-powered powertrains. In the early 1970s, Exxon lured chemist M. Stanley Whittingham to develop what would become a prototype of a lithium-ion rechargeable battery. Then, in the late 1970s, Exxon pioneered the concept of using an alternating-current (AC) motor as part of a gas-electric hybrid vehicle. The company retrofitted a Chrysler Cordova (yes, that's the model Ricardo Montalban used to hawk) with a powertrain that combined 10 Sears Die-Hard car batteries, an alternating current synthesizer (ACS), a 100-horsepower AC motor, and, yes, a four-cylinder 50-horsepower Volkswagen diesel engine. The result was a rather large two-door sedan that got an impressive 27 mpg. And while US automakers didn't see the potential in the early concept, in 1980 Exxon and Toyota began collaborating on a project that would involve retrofitting a Toyota Cressida with a hybrid engine. That car was completed in 1981, and may have been one of the seeds that eventually helped sprout the concept of the Toyota Prius. Soon after rebuilding the Cressida, Exxon would get out of the advanced-powertrain-development business, as oil prices began to fall in the early 1980s, spurring cost-cutting measures. Cry no tears for the Exxon, though, as what's now known as ExxonMobil is the largest US oil company. FCA CEO Manley says alliances are still possible but aren't necessary
Mon, Aug 5 2019DETROIT — Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Chief Executive has a message for Renault SA and other would-be partners: We are happy to talk, but we can go it alone. "Strategically, we have a solid future and clear plans that are being invested in and are underway now," Mike Manley said during a session with reporters the day after the company released better than expected second-quarter results. "That isn't to say if there is a better future through an alliance or partnership or merger we wouldnÂ’t be open and interested to it." Fiat Chrysler is open to re-starting merger negotiations with French automaker Renault, Manley said, but added the French car maker is not the only potential partner to gain scale or plug gaps in Fiat Chrysler's technology or vehicle lineup. "To say are they the only opportunity, the answer to that question would be a definitive ‘No,Â’" Manley said. Fiat Chrysler in June withdrew a $35 billion merger proposal with Renault after French government officials intervened in the talks and sought to delay a decision on the deal. The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that Renault and Nissan are trying again to reshape their alliance and resolve disagreements that helped to derail the merger talks with Fiat Chrysler. Fiat Chrysler has a commercial vehicle partnership with French rival Peugeot SA, and the two companies discussed a broader combination before Fiat Chrysler made its offer to Renault, people familiar with the situation have said. Manley said automakers are not the only potential partners. "There are cooperations that can help in specific technologies. There are cooperations as we think about the consumer-car interface," he said. "You could see collaborations that never would be there in the past." Fiat Chrysler's North American business is strong thanks to Ram trucks and Jeep SUVs, but in other markets the automaker faces continued challenges. The company is overhauling its mass-market business in Europe, which is anchored by the Fiat brand. Fiat Chrysler's Europe, Middle East and Africa operations were marginally profitable in the second quarter and achieved 1.8% profit margin in 2018. Manley has set a goal of 3% operating margins, well short of the 10% margins the company forecast for North America.
