1965 Imperial Convertible, Low Reserve! on 2040-cars
Newton, Iowa, United States
1965 Imperial Crown Convertible in excellent running and driving condition, rebuilt 440 engine and torqueflite transmission, nice paint and power top, factory air conditioning converted to R134A, power windows (including power vent windows), very comfortable power seats with new, exact reproduction leather upholstery, factory AM/FM signal-seeking radio with working power antenna, "Auto Pilot" cruise control (not working), remote mirror control, remote trunk release, both soft and "parade" top boots, rebuilt suspension. All lights, signal, gages, speedometer, odometer/trip odometer work properly. It's a real joy to drive, as it has plenty of power, shifts smoothly, steers easily and straight down the road, with no squeaks, rattles or groans. It's a rare classic car that you can still drive confidently and comfortably in freeway traffic.
This is a two-owner car that's been in central Iowa its whole life. I'm listing this for my brother-in-law, who has owned the car since 2000. I was with him when we found the car and he purchased from the original owner, and I've been very familiar with the car over the years. He knows he invested way more money in the car than he will ever recover, but that's not why he bought, owned and enjoyed the Imperial. He's just at the point in his life where it's time to sell. I've also made a video tour of the car here: |

Chrysler Q3 profits surge to $611M but per-unit profits trouble
Thu, 06 Nov 2014Chrysler Group has announced its third-quarter financial results a little later than its crosstown rivals at General Motors and Ford, but the company has reason to celebrate thanks to strong numbers across the board.
The biggest attention-grabber from the automaker is that its net income was up 32 percent in the third quarter to $611 million, compared to $464 million over the same period last year. Modified operating profit was also strong at $946 million - a 10 percent gain. Furthermore, net revenue grew as well to $20.7 billion - 18 percent higher Q3 2013.
Growing sales pushed the strong financials. Chrysler Group sold about 711,000 vehicles worldwide for the quarter, up 18 percent from a year ago. Things looked especially good in the US, where its market share grew to 12.3 percent, versus 11.2 percent in Q3 2013.
Chrysler recalling 49K Chargers for headlight components
Fri, 14 Mar 2014Chrysler has issued a recall for about 49,375 2011 and 2012 Dodge Chargers with halogen headlamps due to a problem with the lights. The automaker says that there could be an issue with the jumper harness and other related components.
The automaker says that 43,450 cars are affected in the US, 2,850 in Canada, 375 in Mexico and 2,700 outside of North America. The vehicles will have their headlight assemblies, including the jumper harnesses and bulbs, inspected and potentially replaced. Dodge says that its engineers investigated reports of that were similar to what was found when it recalled about 10,000 police Chargers in 2012 for overheating light components. There have been no injuries or accidents related to fault, according to Chrysler.
The automaker will be in contact with affected owners, and schedule the service. Naturally, any repairs will be free of charge. Scroll down for the company's full announcement.
Chrysler recalls 2013 Ram pickups, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Wed, 17 Jul 2013Chrysler's spate of successful products is about to be marred by a trio of recalls. The Pentastar is recalling 51,477 Ram trucks and Jeep SUVs. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been no reported accidents, injuries or deaths related to the affected vehicles.
The largest action covers the Ram 1500, which is seeing 45,961 trucks being recalled. Models built between June 26, 2012 and February 5, 2013 are being recalled due to a potential software issue in the electronic stability control. Apparently, the system can be randomly deactivated upon vehicle startup.
Chrysler is also recalling 4,458 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Covering everything but the SRT models, the potentially defective SUVs were built between January 14 and March 20, 2013. This recall focuses on "premium headlights," which means cars equipped with LED running lights. During the switch from the bright daytime running lamp setting to the low-intensity parking light setting, an electrical spike can cause one of the Jeep's computers to go into a safe mode, turning off the LEDs. This violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.
