HERE IS A 2007 CHRYSLER 300C THAT IS ONE OF THE CLEANEST IN THE COUNTRY. I RETIRED AFTER 40 YEARS IN THE USED CAR BUSINESS IN 2010. I DECIDED I WANTED A 300C IN COOL VANILLA COLOR WITH BEIGE LEATHER A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. THE REASON I MENTION MY HISTORY IN THE BUSINESS IS THAT WITH MY DECADES OF EXPERIENCE WITH USED CARS I KNOW A REALLY EXCEPTIONAL CAR. I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FIND THIS ONE IN PA. IT HAD BEEN TRADED IN ON A NEW CHARGER BY THE ORIGINAL SENIOR OWNERS. IT HAD 10,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. THE DEALER PROMISED ME IT WAS THE NICEST, CLEANEST 300C IN EXISTANCE AND I MADE THE LONG DRIVE TO SEE IT. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED WHEN I ARRIVED. IT LOOKED LIKE IT JUST ROLLED OUT OF THE SHOWROOM. I WENT OVER IT WITH THE PAINT METER I USED WHEN BUYING CARS FOR MY FORMER BUSINESS AND FOUND NO PAINT WORK ANYWHERE. THERE WERE NO DINGS, DENTS, SCRATCHES, OR OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ANYWHERE ON THE BODY. THE INTERIOR WAS, AND STILL IS, LIKE BRAND NEW. IT HAD NOT EVEN BEEN SHAMPOOED. IT WAS TRADED IN THAT WAY. IF YOU NOTICE THE PHOTOS OF THE CARPETING YOU WON'T SEE THE USUAL SHAMPOO LINES IN THE CARPETING. SINCE I PLANNED ON KEEPING IT FOREVER, I ADDED THE EXPENSIVE FLOORMATS MADE FOR THE CAR. I ADDED 20" CRAGER RIMS WITH GOODYEAR TIRES. THE ORIGINAL 18" CHROME RIMS AND TIRES ARE INCLUDED AND ARE ALSO LIKE NEW. I HAVE STORED THE CAR BOTH WINTERS I'VE OWNED IT. I CAN'T SAY FOR SURE BUT BY LOOKING AT THE STOCK RIMS AND UNDERCARRIAGE, I WOULD SAY IT HAS HAD LITTLE OR NO USE ON THE WINTER. I ALSO ADDED A SIMULATED WOOD TRIM KIT INSIDE. I REMOVED THE STOCK 300C EMBLEMS AND ADDED THE 300 CLASSIC METAL EMBLEMS YOU SEE IN THE PHOTOS. I ALSO ADDED THE RED AND BLUE TAPE STRIPES. IF THE EMBLEMS AND STRIPES AREN'T YOUR STYLE THEY CAN EASILY BE REMOVED WITH A HEAT GUN. I ALSO ADDED THE MUD GUARDS YOU SEE FRONT AND REAR. I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT COMPLIMENTS ON THE CAR THE FEW TIMES I'VE HAD IT OUT. WHEN I FIRST SAW THE CAR I NOTICED THE FANCY GRILLE AND WAS A LITTLE SCEPTICAL THAT AN ELDERLY OWNER WOULD CHANGE THE ORIGINAL. IT TURNS OUT THAT WHEN CERTAIN OPTIONS WERE ORDERED, REMOTE START BEING ONE, THIS GRILLE CAME ON THE CAR FROM THE FACTORY. I ALSO ADDED THE PROFESSIONALLY PAINTED BENTLEY STYLE HEADLIGHT COVERS. THEY ARE HELD ON WITH VELCRO. AGAIN, IF THEY AREN'T YOUR STYLE SHEY CAN BE EASILY REMOVED. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE LOOK. I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT HOW PRISTINE AND SHARP THIS CAR IS. LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PHOTOS. THE CAR IS EVERY BIT AS NICE AS IT LOOKS. THERE IS A VERY LIGHT 4" CURB RASH ON THE THIN EDGE ON ONE RIM I GOT WHEN TRYING TO PARK AS FAR AWAY FROM ANY OTHER CARS IN A PARKING LOT. VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE BUT IT'S THERE. THE REASON I'VE PUT LESS THAN 4,000 MILES ON IT IN TWO YEARS IS I AVOID PARKING LOTS, BAD WEATHER, BAD ROADS, AREAS WHERE IT COULD BE STOLEN, AND ANYWHERE ELSE I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING IT. ANAL IS MY WIFE'S TAKE ON IT. THIS CAR IS SO VERY NICE I'VE WANTED TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. I DOUBT YOU'LL FIND ANOTHER '07 THIS NICE ANYWHERE. I CAN'T IMAGINE ANYONE BEING DISAPPOINTED WITH THE CAR. OF COURSE IT DRIVES EXACTLY AS IT LOOKS. IT'S OBVIOUSLY BEEN PAMPERED SINCE NEW. BEING SENIOR OWNED SINCE NEW I'M SURE IT HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN HARD. BOTH SETS OF TIRES WILL VERIFY THAT. EMAIL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. I'M SURE I'VE FORGOTTEN A DETAIL OR TWO. THE CAR WON'T BE RELEASED UNTIL THE BUYER'S CHECK CLEARS. I'LL BE GLAD TO WORK WITH YOUR SHIPPING COMPANY OF YOU NEED TO SHIP IT. PLEASE HAVE FUNDS AVAILABLE BEFORE YOU BID. THANKS FOR LOOKING. P.S. I JUST REALIZED I DIDN'T PHOTOGRAPH THE TRUNK. I'LL ADD A COUPLE OF PIC'S SHORTLY. ALSO, THERE MAY BE A FEW MORE MILES ON THE CAR BECAUSE I'M THINKING OF TAKING IT OUT OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. IT WON'T BE MORE THAN 200 ADDITIONAL MILES. I MAY OR MAY NOT TAKE IT OUT.

1963 Chrysler Turbine Car is for sale, and it's the coolest car you can buy
Tue, Mar 9 2021If you have a lot of money, there are a lot of really wild and exciting cars to choose from. But I feel confident in saying that none of them, none of them, can come close to being as brilliantly badass as this 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car, first spotted by Barn Finds, which, yes, is actually something you can buy and own. And even drive! Here's a quick recap of the Turbine Car in case you're unfamiliar. Back in the 1960s, Chrysler was researching turbine engines for vehicle propulsion, and to get an idea for how well they would work in the real world, they built 5 prototype cars followed by 50 production models. Those latter models did a tour to just over 200 families, each of which spent 90 days driving the cars. According to Motor Trend, the engine produced 130 horsepower and 425 pound-feet of torque, and it was paired with a three-speed automatic. Afterward, the cars were returned to Chrysler, which eventually decided that turbine engines weren't the way of the future. According to Hyman Ltd., the company selling this example, only nine Turbine Cars were spared the crusher, and six were sent to museums. This was one of the cars Chrysler held onto, and it was occasionally loaned to executives and such. It was then sold to William Harrah for his collection and museum near Reno. It later was sold to the founder of Domino's Pizza, and then to the latest owner, Frank Kleptz. Kleptz then worked with GE Engine Services to rebuild the engine and make the car run again. As it sits, the car features its original paint, trim and interior. It comes with spare parts and various documents. And of course it oozes cool, from the whistling engine under the hood to the jet-inspired, Ghia-built body and sleek interior. Plus, you can be sure you won't see another one on the road, unless you happen to be cruising by Jay Leno's garage in Burbank, Calif. It really doesn't get cooler than this. Hyman hasn't listed a price for it, but we're sure it will sell for a massive amount, and it would probably be money well spent. Correction: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Bill Harrah's car collection was in Las Vegas, it was actually near Reno. The text has been updated to reflect this. Chrysler officially rebrands as FCA US LLC
Tue, Dec 16 2014Detroit's third-largest automaker has had a lot of names over the years. It was founded as the Chrysler Corporation in 1925, a name it held until 1998 when it was bought by ze Germans in 1998 to form DaimlerChrysler AG, then it went independent in 2007 under the name Chrysler LLC before being retitled once again as Chrysler Group LLC in 2009. And now the automaker headquartered in Auburn Hills, MI, is getting yet another new name. Announced today and effective immediately, the company formerly known as Chrysler will now be called FCA US LLC. That's a lot of letters, but they make a lot of sense, too: FCA stands for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the US telling us this is the company's American division and the LLC tells us it's a limited liability company – a legal classification similar to (but not quite the same as) a corporation. The announcement comes shortly after the company decided to phase out its long-serving Pentastar logo. The sum total is that the once-independent industrial giant is now formally part of a larger European parent company, owned by Fiat and (for taxation purposes, anyway) based in the Netherlands. What the company formerly known as Chrysler wants to emphasize, however, is that FCA US LLC will remain based in Auburn Hills and retain its "holdings, management team, board [and] brands." Chrysler Group LLC Announces New Company Name: FCA US LLC U.S.-based Automaker's New Name Aligns With Global Parent December 16, 2014 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - Chrysler Group LLC, the Auburn Hills, Michigan-based automaker, today announced that it has changed its company name to FCA US LLC. The name change is effective immediately and follows the naming convention of its global parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles N.V. (FCA), which officially adopted its new name in October when it listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The name change to FCA US LLC does not affect the company's headquarters location in Auburn Hills, Michigan, its holdings, management team, board or brands. FCA US, together with parent FCA, continues to work toward the business plan presented on Investor Day in May 2014. Additionally, the Company remains proud of its joint heritage. FCA US continues to build upon the solid foundations first established by Walter P. Chrysler in 1925 as well as a rich Fiat heritage that dates from 1899. FCA US employs more than 77,000 employees worldwide, with 96 percent of its workforce based in North America.
Buy Ford and GM stock and make 5%
Tue, Feb 2 2016Want to make a five-percent return when 10-year treasuries are paying around two percent? Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) have solid balance sheets, strong cash flow, solid earnings, and growing markets. By all accounts, they are smart investments. But the market is down on these stocks. Why? Some of the stupid excuses include: They are cyclical companies The Detroit 3 have lost 3.5 million in sales since 2000 The world economy is shaky GM recently filed for bankruptcy Their markets have peaked They haven't changed their ways Let's take these criticisms one by one: They Are Cyclical Companies Yes, they are cyclical. Every company is cyclical. Every industry is cyclical. Some more than others, but not every company is immune from swings in the market. Banks used to be 'non-cyclical' leader, not anymore. Airline stocks are just as cyclical as auto stocks, yet they are trading at multiples greater than the auto industry. Why? And what accounts for the irrational stock price for Tesla (TSLA)? At least Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) make money and have positive cash flows. In fact, both companies have a net positive cash position. They have more cash on hand than liabilities. Auto sales in the United States hit a record 17.5 million vehicles in 2015. During the Great Recession, Ford (F) and General Motors (GM) cut their break even points to 10 million vehicles per year. Anything above an annual U.S. volume of 10 million vehicles is profit. And what a profit they make. Sales of Ford's F-150 continues to be the best-selling vehicle in the United States for over 30 years. Detroit 3 Have Lost 3.5 million in Sales Since 2000 Automotive News reports General Motors (GM), Ford (F) and Chrysler (FCA) have lost a combined 3.5 million vehicles sales since 2000. So how can they be making more money? Two big reasons – Fleet Sales and the UAW. Fleet Sales The Detroit 3 used to own car rental companies to keep their factories running. Ford owned Hertz (HTZ), General Motors owned all of National Car Rental and 29 percent of Avis, and Chrysler, the forerunner to Fiat Chrysler (FCA), used to own Thrifty Car Rental and Dollar Rent-A-Car. The Detroit 3 owned these rental companies to have a place to sell their bad product and keep their factories running. These were low margin sales, and in many cases, were money losers for the Detroit 3. They no longer own auto rental companies.
