For Sale: 1960 Chrysler 300F Coupe
VIN: 8403126310

Up for sale is an original 1960 California Black Plate Chrysler 300F.  The car was stored in an open field for the past 6 years.  It was covered, but developed some rust along the way.  It is virtually complete, with all trim parts, engine, transmission, and rear end all intact. There won’t be a laundry list of parts to chase with this car! The only parts that are known to be missing are the radiator cap and the driveshaft. We consider this vehicle as a deteriorated restoration project.

The VIN indicates the car was built in January, 1960. The date code on the block shows that the motor was made on January 22nd, 1960. The VIN also indicates that the original color is white and presumed to be original paint.

This car was an unknown vehicle to the Chrysler 300 Club International until they were recently contacted.  The VIN and Trim Plate have been submitted to the club for a new “Birthing”.  I expect to hear back from the association shortly, confirming the validity of the car. According to the Chrysler 300 Club website, there were 964 Coupes produced in 1960 and only 270 known survivors to date. This car makes #271! This is a clear CA title (non-op), however, it was last registered for street use in 1974. This car does not run. Mileage as shown on the odometer reads 23,796 miles.

The engine is the coveted 413 Wedge with the Cross Ram intakes and dual four barrel carburetors. All of the Cross Ram linkage is in place.

If you are looking for a Virgil Exner fin car to restore, this may be one of the last available cars to buy.
The car is definitely restorable, with normal California rust, and a few areas’ that should not have rust (C-Pillar) that was due to the last owner not properly caring for the car. My son and I were determined to restore this vehicle, but due to a relocation of our warehouse business we are forced to sell.

The reserve is low for a car of this caliber, and they sell for well into the 5 figures when restored. We can accommodate virtually any type of carrier or transportation needs. We even have a dock high loading dock to facilitate  a container for overseas transport. Please note buyer assumes all costs for transportation, however, we will (within reason) assist with the loading of the vehicle, if necessary. The car is located less than 50 miles from either the San Francisco or Oakland ports for overseas freight.

Unfortunately, I do not have a lot of history on the car, but if you have specific questions regarding condition, etc. please feel free to contact us. Serious parties interested in seeing this car in person may do so by scheduling an appointment. This vehicle is being sold as-is, where-is.

We have additional photos (about 100 total) that will be provided upon request.

Good Luck to all Bidders! Here is your chance to own a rare piece of automobile history.

Sell your own: 1969 Plymouth Barracuda

Mon, May 22 2017

Looking to sell your car? We make it easy and free. Quickly create listings with up to six photos and reach millions of buyers. Log in and create your free listings. Always the "third" element in Detroit's Big Three, Chrysler and its Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler divisions, usually played catchup to GM and Ford. However, Plymouth actually arrived to the ponycar segment on time, with its launch of the Valiant-based Barracuda almost on top of Ford's Mustang. That said, the segment became named for ponies, not an aggressive fish. By 1969, the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro were becoming bigger and more sophisticated. The Barracuda, by contrast, held on to its essential simplicity. We'd prefer the fastback and a small-block V8, but in the context of 2017 collectible-car values for Mopar, even a Slant Six coupe with unknown mileage might be worth checking out. From the supplied pics, this '69 Cuda looks to be in good condition; if it weren't, the asking price would likely be south of $10,000 – not north. Scarcity's not an issue, so this Barracuda would seem well-suited for the resto-mod treatment (above and beyond the aftermarket hood scoops), while keeping the post-purchase investment as minimal as the original outlay. Chrysler Recalling 870,000 SUVs For Brake Defect

Wed, Apr 2 2014

Chrysler is recalling nearly 870,000 SUVs because corrosion may make the vehicles' brakes harder to use. Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango SUVs from the 2011 through 2014 model years are involved. Chrysler says crimp joints in the brake boosters can corrode if they're exposed to water. If the water freezes, the boosters won't aid braking as they usually do. Chrysler began investigating after some customers said their brakes felt too firm when pressed down. The company knows of one accident, but no injuries, due to the defect. Dealers will install a shield to protect the boosters for free and replace boosters that aren't working properly. Chrysler has since changed the design to make the boosters more corrosion resistant. Chrysler will notify owners of the recall, which involves 867,795 vehicles. The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18. We also have a feeling the LeMons series is going to be flooded with Grummans come 2017. News Source: Wall Street Journal, Automotive News - sub.
