CAR IS IN FLORIDA, FORT LAUDERDALE AREA

============================================================

WHERE DO I BEGIN. OKAY.

This is the history of this car:

1. The car belonged to my brother. He passed away in November 2012.

2. Because I knew he had put over $2,000 into the mechanics of the car, I bought the car from the estate.I felt that although it was 20 years old, my brother put a lot of money into it.

3. After I bought the car in March, I had it professionally detailed inside, and paid $200 for a new headliner including visors and $60 for new hydraulics for the hood, so the hood stays up. Also the wiper blades are new. A total of $400

4. The trunk is clean and all the lining is tight, perfectly in place as originally.

5. The trunk lining looks like new. (just slightly soiled)

6. The carpet inside and the back seat and passenger seat look relatively new.

7. Regarding the upholstery, just the drivers seatneeds repair.

8. The tires are in good condition and will be good for a while.

9. After driving one block, all the doors do automatically lock.

10. The outside lights work, all the signals work.

11. The driver power window switch works all windows to put them down, but you need to use the switches on the passenger side to get them back up.

12.I brought the car to a mechanic to disconnect the alarmand to see the reason the seats don't move back and forth easily. I don't know what he did, but after he did whatever he did under the seat, suddenly, many things that were working perfectly now don't work.

13.Ice cold a/c, Gas gauge, power door-lock switch, power mirrors, radio, wipers, were all working perfectly and now they are not.

14. I brought it to 2 auto electric businesses and was told that I need a body computer or module. Apparently that part affects all these items, although one of the businesses said it does not affect the gas gauge. Being that all these items stopped working at the very same time, I think that the body computer works the gas gauge too. It is too coincidental.

15. It needs a paint job, seriously.

16. Some Bondo patch is needed at the left rear bumper, and there are break-away holes where the fenders meet the hood near the windshield.

So, what do we have here. A really pleasant looking interior, that looks almost new. All necessary items work for the car to function except the windshield wipers.

If you need wheels to get back and forth, this car should serve you very well for the price. Remember, when you can do better for yourself, you can always sell it, and at least get $500 from a junk yard.

17. The car had low milage for a car 20 years old, (you can tell by the carpet and upholstery other than one edge of the driver's seat).Unfortunately, the odometer broke, so it cannot be verified. However it was owned by a senior citizen rarely driving at age 78, and not well, since 2004.

So, to sum up; mechanically under the hood over $2000 was spent. Then we put in about $400, since March 2013. No problem with the engine. The car runs good. Normally for this price you get a real piece of junk. This car is NOT. This is a really good car. It just needs a little help. Uh-oh. Just brought it in for new brakes. Couldn't get one of the lug nuts off. So brakes have not been checked. Mechanic leaned on the car and an additional piece on the right front fender broke away. (I have the piece.) Mechanic said it needs a new rack and pinion. You wouldn't know it, because it drives perfectly well with no problems at all, and I did not get a second opinion. I lowered the price down because of this rack and pinion needing repair in the future. The car should last you quite a while as is.

Stellantis reports record margins, $7B profits despite chip shortage

Tue, Aug 3 2021

MILAN — Automaker Stellantis on Tuesday said it achieved faster-than-expected progress on synergies and record margins in its first six months as a combined company, despite suffering 700,000 units in lower production due to interruptions in the semiconductor supply chain. The company — formed from French carmaker Peugeot PSAÂ’s takeover of the Italian-American company Fiat Chrysler — reported net profit of 5.9 billion euros ($7 billion) in the first half of 2021, compared with a loss 813 million euros during the same period a year earlier, which was impacted by the coronavirus restrictions around the globe. Shipments rose 44% to 3.2 million units, while revenues rose 46% to 75 billion euros. “We are very pleased with the speed with which the new team has begun to execute as one company, as Stellantis,Â’Â’ Chief Financial Officer Richard Palmer told reporters. Semiconductor shortages accounted for 200,000 units of production losses in the first quarter and 500,000 in the second quarter. Semiconductors are used more than ever before in new vehicles with electronic features such as Bluetooth connectivity and driver assist, navigation and hybrid electric systems. Stellantis achieved 1.3 billion euros in cost savings in the first half, mostly by sharing investments in new technologies and platforms, which Palmer said was a faster rate than initially forecast. It aims to achieve 80% of the targeted 5 billion in cost savings by 2024. “These synergies allow us to continue to invest in the electrification strategy, which we talk about every day,” Palmer said. Stellantis, which lags competitors in rolling out electric vehicles, plans to launch 21 fully electric or plug-in gas electric hybrid vehicles over the next two years. North American posted record profitability on global sales of Ram trucks and the strong launch of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, which was the best-selling plug-in gas electric vehicle in the United States in the second quarter. Stellantis was the market leader in South America and second in Europe. The results were presented on a pro-forma basis, taking into account the performance of each of the carmakers as separate entities during 2020. Chrysler recalling 31k SUVs and vans

Fri, 06 Jun 2014

Chrysler is issuing recalls covering roughly 31,700 vehicles worldwide due to two separate problems. In both cases the company believes that most of the affected vehicles are either still on, or in transit to, dealer lots.
One recall covers roughly 10,700 Dodge Durango, Jeep Cherokee, Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee SRT models from the 2014 model year built between January 16 and April 17, 2014. The SUVs need a software update for the cruise control. It's possible that when the cruise is on and the driver presses on the throttle, the acceleration could last a second after the pedal is released or two seconds for the SRT. Afterward, they return to the speed originally set by the driver.
Chrysler says it isn't aware of any accidents, injuries or even reported incidents of this happening in the real world. Also, in all cases, if the driver presses on the brake, the cruise shuts off. The automaker believes that there are about 6,100 affected SUVs in the US, 950 in Canada, 425 in Mexico and 3,200 outside of North America. The software upgrade will be ready shortly, the company says.

Marchionne completed Fiat-Chrysler deal from a Florida beach

Fri, 03 Jan 2014

Sergio Marchionne is the CEO of Fiat, which as you may have heard, has finally worked up a deal to finish acquiring the Chrysler Group after months of bargaining with the United Auto Workers and its VEBA healthcare trust, which owned just over 40 percent of the American brand. Where was Marchionne when the deal was finally hammered out? Well, not tucked away in a frigid Detroit board room until the wee hours of the morning.
Nope, one of the largest deals in automotive history was reportedly hammered out on the beach - at the home of a banker, in the Florida resort town of Vero Beach. Marchionne traveled to the home of Alain Lebec, a senior managing director at Brock Capital LLC, one of the advisory companies for the VEBA fund, where both sides met to make final arrangements in the $4.35-billion exchange. The location of the final deal, though, is nearly as remarkable as the pace with which it came about.
According to anonymous sources pinned down by Automotive News Europe, before the meeting, the two sides were meeting in Detroit as recently as December 19, which is where Fiat made one of its final revised offers. Naturally, the VEBA made a counter offer, which led Marchionne to initiate the Vero Beach meeting.
