I have my very well cared for and hard to find 1996 Tahoe 2dr 2wd custom show truck for sale. Truck use to be bagged on 22" billet specialties wheels. The pictures  are for reference only and the truck will be sold the way it is in the title picture. This one has been a project with no expense spared. It has a ton of mods so I will start off with all the modifications.

Body - custom 08 Red paint, 2004 front clip, shaved upper body line, shaved doors, shaved gas lid, shaved rear doors with recessed license plate box, weld in roll pan, gas fill relocated to driver rear a pillar, custom one off metal front bumper with air dam ( narrowed and tucked under). Brand new barn door windows and brand new windshield and brand new passenger side cargo window.

Suspension - Truck was previously air bagged. Currently has 22" wheels with 265/35/22. Still has 4 link installed in rear with coil mounts and new lowered coil springs and new shocks,  front has 2" drop springs along with 2" drop spindles and adjustable upper control arms. Truck sits with a 4/6 drop. Also the dip in the frame that Chevy puts on the tahoes just in front of the rear tires has been removed and boxed in so that it can lay out even front and rear and rear end has been narrowed 2.5" each side with moser axles, drilled and slotted rotors up front.

Engine - has brand new MPI injection set up, intake manifold gasket was recently replaced with metal core felpro gasket, 10 gallon fuel cell mounted between frame rails behind rear end, vacuum lines replaced, custom air intake installed, truck has a custom true dual exhaust, new fuel pump, new coils, new plugs and wires and cap/rotor, has a high output 250 amp alternator with all 0 gauge stinger wire from alt to batter that is relocated to the passenger rear cargo area, all grounds are also 0 gauge stinger so the big 3 has been done as well.

Interior - Custom slicked out and painted dash to match exterior, billet specialities steering wheel, new seats just recovered, front seats out of 99 escalade and rear seats are a 3rd row Tahoe seat that fits between the rear tubs, has new carpet installed in front/rear passenger area, center console, doors panels covered to match seats, the rear cargo area was raised 8" and completely boxed out with square tubing and covered in sheet metal, extra wide tubs installed, LED tail lights that mount in rear windows, AVS shaved door kit.

The below is a list of remaining things to be done to the truck

Body - front bumper needs to be adjusted and final bolted to frame. Currently bolted snug with 1 bolt on each frame mount, air dam installed, driver fender needs minor adjustment to even door gap, a wiper cowl will need to be made/purchased, there is a small scratch below passenger door from loading it on car trailer and the door pins in the rear along with one small chip can be touched up, window wiper motor was taken out when painting the firewall just needs to be reinstalled.

Suspension - Only needs an alignment, breaks bleed and if wanted 2" adapters in rear to bring out the wheels to stock location.

Engine - Just recently tuned up and oil changed. I have a billet overflow tank for the radiator that will need to be installed along with either install the stock fan shroud or go with an electric fan. Truck has only been drive. 5 miles since the tear down in 07 but has been cracked up and ran every week to keep battery charged. The ac condensor was disconnected for front end swap and needs ro be recharged. It has not exhibited any issues for drivability.

Interior - needs new seat belts, center console back installed, I have billet air vent they just need to be installed, I have chrome interior door handles that need to be installed and then the handles and door latch connected with a cable, door panel need to be bolted to doors, I will give the buyer a set of brand new Alpine Type S components for the doors just need to get them installed, interior panels need to be painted and installed, front passenger a-pillar needs to be replaced and the only interior piece I don't have is the rear door sill but I was covering everything in leather so I wasn't concerned with it, the rear of th back seats need to be bolted to the floor, the rear cargo area is all sheet metal and there are 8-3/4" holes where the tank lines where ran, LED tail lights were removed to modify trim panel and they need to be reinstalled but they are still connected and work perfect, the headliner will need to be made black to match and installed, the glove box is painted to match dash but needs the guts so that it can be installed.

This truck has a ton of man hours and money spent on it. Unfortunately I have ran out of both in trying to finish it. With little time and money this truck can be featured in a mag. Truck truly is amazing and needs little work/money it only small items that it needs. I have tried to show the good / bad of the truck the best that I can. If you have any questions please email me. I will post more pics tonight.

How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.

GM: Without LG Chem, we couldn't build Bolt EV [UPDATE]

Wed, Oct 21 2015

It's absolutely no surprise that General Motors has a thing for LG Corp. The Detroit automaker and the Korean parts supplier have been working in public on electric vehicles ever since it was announced that LG Chem would supply the battery cells for the Chevy Volt in 2009. LG Chem was even named GM's 2010 Supplier of the Year. But, yesterday, the connection between the two companies was strengthened with the announcement that LG Electronics would be supplying a number of components for the upcoming Chevy Bolt electric vehicle. The Bolt is expected to be able to go about 200 miles and will carry a price tag of about $30,000 (after incentives) when it arrives in 2017 or so. LG's new components can be found almost everywhere in the Bolt. They include the battery pack and the battery heater, a new motor, the power inverter module, the electric climate control system compressor, the on-board charger, high-power distribution module, the accessory power module, and power line communication module. Oh, and then there are LG Electronics' advanced display technologies like the new instrument cluster and a new infotainment cluster. LG Electronics also supplies parts for the 4G LTE OnStar system, just like it does in other new Chevys. If that all sounds like a lot of components to you, you're right. Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, said that without the expanded relationship with LG, GM would not be able to bring the Bolt to market (insert old ironic quote link here). "I think GM was lacking that [electrification knowledge] in a very complete way for many years, I'll just be frank about that," Reuss said. "I also think that on an electrified basis, this requires a long-term commitment and trust that sometimes is violated on a more short-term, regular, traditional basis. I think we have found something completely different with LG and I think that has become a widely talked about and duplicated want from our purchasing and corporate standpoint with our supply base." The "this" that Reuss is talking about here is the OEM-supplier relationship, something has evolved with the LG-GM situation. Previously, the automaker-supplier relationship used to be more like a dictator telling underlings what he needed, Reuss said, and that was a bad idea. "Today's competitive landscape requires a different approach, especially in electrified vehicles," he said.
