Up for Sale is this one of a kind 2003 Chevrolet SSR in Redline Red with Ebony Leather interior.  It is offered by Bill Buck Chevrolet and I am Ben Lewis, the Pre-Owned Sales Manager.  It was traded in by the original owner on a new Chevrolet Equinox for his wife.  This truck has been his project from day one and the time, thought and money that has gone into this truck probably could not be duplicated for twice the price that we are offering it at!  I am going to do my best to describe what this truck is and am glad to answer your questions via email or phone.  I have several books of documentation including the original window sticker along with manuals and receipts for most of the upgrades including the Supercharger and transmission upgrades.

This SSR started life in Annapolis Maryland.  The previous owner ordered this truck fully loaded with the 1SB option package (heated seats, memory package, homelink transmitters, Bose sound system with CD), carpeted bed with wood trim accents, integrated running boards, bed saddle bags, towing package with trailer hitch, cargo net.  The total price was $46,490 in 2003 dollars and this customer paid well above that for the opportunity to have one of the first available in Red!  He never drove one at the time it was ordered.  When he picked up the truck, he was slightly unimpressed with 300 horsepower 5.3 liter V8 and immediately began drawing up the plans for what you are about to bid on!

Here is what I know has been done but I can tell you that there is probably a lot of little things that had to be completed to make the package work so well.  This truck runs and drives like Chevrolet built it this way!  Everything works including the air conditioning and all electronics.  There are no check engine or warning lights.  Our service department has inspected it and were impressed with the quality of the upgrades.  My best estimate from the receipts and my knowledge of the parts used puts the upgrades in excess of $10,000 without labor cost.  Here are the highlights:

Lowered Suspension (estimated about 1")
Magnuson Intercooled Supercharger (Roots Style)
Dynatech SuperMaxx Exhaust System w/Stainless Long Tube Headers
Comp Cams 525/532 Cam specifically for supercharged application
Phoenix Transmission of Texas / Transmission Upgrade to Original Unit

Upon completion of the upgrades, the truck was taken to a well known speed shop where it was tuned and dyno tested and recorded.  This truck puts 430 horsepower to the ground and 470 lb/torque at the rear wheels with an incredibly flat torque curve (440 lbs at the rear wheels from 2000 RPM  to Redline).  Needless to say, its a blast to drive and very streetable.  Just put the top down, turn on the Bose sound system and enjoy!

I am going to include three videos below.  I will let them speak for themselves.  Please note that I took the video and drove, so I apologize for its shaky quality as the SSR can be a handful!

Here are the rules for this auction and they are very simple:  This truck is for sale, and priced to sell!  We are not looking to appraise it so please bid only when you are ready to buy it.  If you need financing, please have it already lined up or call us to be pre-approved.  If you have questions or would like to inspect the vehicle, please email or call me.  I will do my best to accommodate all reasonable requests.  Transportation is the buyer's responsibility.  We are not a shipping company and do not give quotes for those services.  Sales Tax and License Fees are charged per Federal and State Law.  There will be a $399.00 Administration Fee added to the winning bid price to cover the cost of paperwork, lot prep, etc.  If you have questions.....Just Call or Email (we are glad to help). 941-493-5000 blewis@billbuckchevrolet.com.  The last and most important rule is this:  The truck is for sale locally and on our lot.  We reserve the right to end the auction early anytime UNTIL it meets reserve on this auction.  Once this auction is above our Reserve Price, we will only sell it to the high bidder.  NO exceptions.  Its the only fair way to handle this so everyone has a chance to buy.  So if you are serious, bid early and bid what you'll pay or you risk somebody walking on the lot and buying it before you get the chance!

Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada

Sat, May 9 2015

Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.

The Chevy Cruze Hatchback arrives in the US this fall

Thu, Jan 7 2016

We knew this was coming, but now it's official. Chevrolet will sell a five-door Cruze in the US beginning in late 2016, and here it is, ahead of its debut at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Previously, the Cruze Hatchback was available in other markets, and the decision to not offer it Stateside was apparently "a pre-bankruptcy planning mistake," according to GM's Mark Reuss in earlier reports. The 2017 Cruze Hatchback builds on the second-generation Cruze we saw last summer, adding a wealth of functionality – there's 42 cubic feet of cargo space available with the rear seats folded. Plus, the Cruze sedan is lighter and stiffer than its predecessor – more than 200 pounds have been shaved off the compact car's curb weight. While the Cruze sedan is available in four trims – L, LS, LT, and Premier – the five-door will only be available in LT and Premier guise, but can be had with the optional RS appearance package. All Cruze models are powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, with 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. Standard amenities include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via Chevy's MyLink infotainment system, as well as a raft of high-tech safety features. Pricing information isn't available as of this writing, though we expect the Cruze Hatchback to command a slightly higher premium than the sedan. For comparison, a new Cruze LT sedan starts at $21,995, with the Premier coming in at $23,995. We'll have official numbers closer to the Hatchback's on-sale date this fall. Chevrolet Introduces 2017 Cruze Hatch HERE'S THE STORY Ahead of its debut at the North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet today introduced the 2017 Cruze Hatchback. Developed with all the technologies and dynamic driving attributes of the all-new 2016 Cruze sedan, the new hatch adds a functional and sporty choice for customers. It joins Colorado and Trax as the latest Chevrolets to push into new segments. PRODUCT DETAILS The Cruze Hatch has the same, class-leading 106.3-inch (2,700 mm) wheelbase as sedan models, but features a unique roof and rear-end structure – including wraparound taillamps and an integrated spoiler at the top of the liftgate. It opens to offer 18.5 cubic feet (524 liters) of cargo space behind the rear seat. With the rear seat folded, cargo space expands to 42 cubic feet (1,189 liters).

UAW rejects GM contract proposal but makes a counter offer

Tue, Oct 1 2019

The United Auto Workers union said a new comprehensive offer made by General Motors Co late Monday to end a two-week-old strike was not acceptable and said it had made a new counterproposal. UAW vice president Terry Dittes said in a letter to members "there are many important issues that remain unresolved." The union is awaiting GM's next proposal. He said GM's offer came up short on many issues.  Dittes said GM made a "comprehensive proposal" at 9:40 p.m. Monday. "This proposal that the company provided to us on day 15 of the strike did not satisfy your contract demands or needs. There were many areas that came up short like health care, wages, temporary employees, skilled trades and job security to name a few." Dittes is the union's vice president for GM relations and the UAW's lead negotiator in these contract talks. "We have responded today with a counterproposal and are awaiting GM's next proposal to the union," he wrote. "Regardless of what is publicized in print or social media, etc., there are still many important issues that remain unresolved." The strike, in its third week, has cost GM more than $1 billion, according to J.P. Morgan analyst Ryan Brickman. He said the cost per day in potential profit is $82 million. However, another analysis, by East Lansing-based consultant Anderson Economic Group, put the losses at $25 million a day. And the effects of the strike are expanding. GM said Tuesday the strike has created a parts shortage that forced the automaker to halt production at its pickup and transmission plants in Silao, Mexico, temporarily laying off 6,000 workers. Silao is where GM builds its highly profitable four-door crew cab Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. The strike has also forced GM to idle some Canadian workers, and many suppliers have been forced to halt operations. About 48,000 UAW members went on strike on Sept. 16 seeking higher pay, greater job security, a bigger share of the leading U.S. automaker’s profit and protection of their healthcare.Â
