There was some minor spotty surface rust on the utility body which I ground down and primed and painted, my touch up job won't take first place at an auto show, but the truck definitely presents itself nice for anyone with a contractor business that might want to put a logo on it etc...There is a baseball size dent on the front quarter panel which you can see in the photo, it could probably be pulled, pushed out easily. The Utility box is in overall great shape with paddle locks on all the compartments but the rear "barn door" lock needs to be replaced, Knapheid charges around $40.00 for a replacement."

2002 silverado HD 4x4 with 6.0 V8 SFI motor. This is a very solid truck for its year. The utility body is in great shape as can be seen from the pics, lots of storage and clean. Motor runs strong and gauges all read as they should. Interior is a vinyl which is an easy clean up and in good shape. The truck comes with a ball hitch and the wiring is in place for a trailer, round socket type. A full size spare with full tread comes with the truck and the factory jack also included has never been used. There was some surface rust on the utility body which I sanded, primed and painted. There is a baseball size dent on the passenger front quarter panel that could  be easily pulled. The rear "barn doors" have a paddle lock that needs replacing, Knapheid sells them online for about $40.00

This is a perfect truck for a contractor who wants a dependable work truck that shows well for the fraction of a cost of a new one with the same features.

I am the second owner, this was a USGS truck assigned to one person with mostly highway mileage and I have service records from 2004.

2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 vs. 2019 Ram 1500 vs. 2018 Ford F-150: How they compare

Mon, Jan 15 2018

The full-size pickup truck market is seriously hot right now. Both Ram and Chevrolet have introduced completely redesigned trucks, the 2019 Ram 1500 and the 2019 Chevy Silverado, and as the companies slowly roll each one out, more and more information comes to light. We've put together this comparison post to help you keep track of all the features and specifications of each of these new models, along with the updated 2018 Ford F-150. Among the stats we'll take a look at are engines, power, fuel economy, trim levels, weight and more. Weight savings Both the 2019 Ram 1500 and 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 have gone on a diet for the new model year, similar to the one the F-150 went on in 2015. The Silverado is the weight-loss leader, having shed 450 pounds when comparing quad-cab V8 models. The Ram 1500 lost 225 pounds compared to the current truck. Both trucks achieve their weight loss in part due to the use of aluminum parts. On the Silverado, the hood, doors, and tailgate are aluminum, while on the Ram, just the hood and tailgate are aluminum on the body. Compare that to the F-150, which uses aluminum for all exterior body panels for a total weight loss of up to 732 pounds, which makes the aluminum-intensive F-150 the weight-loss leader. View 160 Photos Engines and transmissions There's only a bit of overlap in powertrains on the Ram 1500 and Chevy Silverado. Each has a V8 for the top engine. The Ram's is a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 making 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. The Silverado will once again use a 6.2-liter V8 as its range topper with the same 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque as the current model. Both of these V8s boast some extra fuel saving technology. The Chevy's 6.2-liter (and some 5.3-liters) comes with the company's latest cylinder deactivation system that can shut off any or nearly all of the eight cylinders. The Ram's V8 boasts an optional 48-volt mild-hybrid system that, in addition to likely helping fuel economy, can provide up to 130 pound-feet of torque right off the line. With the Ram, fuel economy sees an improvement of 2 mpg in the city and combined ratings for 17 and 19 respectively. Highway fuel economy improves by 1 mpg to 23 with two-wheel drive and 22 with four-wheel drive. The Silverado's 6.2-liter V8 only improves city fuel economy by 1 mpg to 16, and actually loses 1 mpg on the highway. The new 5.3-liter engine with the fancy cylinder deactivation does see an improvement over the simpler version.

Hertz and GM team up to put 175,000 rental EVs on the road

Tue, Sep 20 2022

Hertz and General Motors have announced a significant partnership that will send up to 175,000 electric vehicles into rental fleets across the country. The deal will unfold over the next five years and include vehicles from all GM brands.   The partnership will run through 2027. Hertz estimates that the electric fleet can save as many as 8 billion gasoline-powered miles, removing 1.8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions from the air. Hertz says it will invest in becoming the largest renter of EVs in North America and notes that it already has tens of thousands available at 500 locations in 38 states. By the end of 2024, it plans to electrify a quarter of its fleet. Electric rental cars are a great way for travelers wanting to avoid gas, and they make excellent urban commuter cars. Hertz will also likely save a few dollars by avoiding oil changes and other routine maintenance that gas engines need. However, a hidden societal benefit of this deal may come when Hertz’s EV rental customers begin shopping for new cars. Many people are skeptical of EVs for various reasons, including range, charging, ease of operation, and cost. Giving people a low-risk introduction to EVs and the ability to test-drive one without a pressuring salesperson could drive more people to electrics. At the same time, there's also the risk that renters wanting to take their Hertz-GM EV on a road trip into sparsely populated areas may return with charging and range-related horror stories. Hertz currently doesnÂ’t ask what youÂ’re planning to do with your rental, but it does offer a chat service for questions, and range information is presented clearly on each vehicle. GM's Fairfax, Kansas, plant closed through mid-August due to chip shortage

Tue, Jun 29 2021

General Motors is further extending downtime at its Fairfax Assembly facility in Kansas City, Kan., due to ongoing microchip supply issues, the company confirmed late Monday. The plant will now remain idled through at least Aug. 16, Automotive News reports. The facility, which produces the Cadillac XT4 and (for now, anyway) the Chevrolet Malibu, was already slated to be on standby until after the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend, but GM was forced to extend the outage again – this time by more than an another month – due to the continued lack of electronic component supply.  While microchip production has begun to catch up to existing production demand, it could take months (perhaps even more than a year) for customers to see relief from the shortage.  Related video:
