Up for auction is a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado Z-71 Extended cab 3 door.

This truck has a rebuilt title. That means that the vehicle was involved in an accident and that the insurance company felt that the repair bill would exceed the value of the vehicle. Therefore they sold it at an auction where I purchased it and repaired the damage myself. That being said....

This truck has a 5.3 liter V-8 engine and an automatic O/D transmission. The engine starts right up and runs smooth. This vehicle starts, runs, drives, shifts, turns, and stops exactly as it should. Despite having just under 231K miles, this truck has plenty of power. The transmission shifts perfectly also. This truck also has push button 4 wheel drive. I believe the truck also has a factory towing package as the trailer hitch on the rear appears to be original.

The exterior of the vehicle has a very nice shine to it. There are a couple small defects (scratches, dings, etc.) in the paint, but I would say it is in great shape for a 15 year old vehicle. There is NO RUST anywhere on this truck, which is very unusual for one of these trucks. I get compliments everywhere I go with it. I would give it a 9 out of 10. I believe the pictures represent it well.

The interior is also very nice. The seats are clean and tear free. There is a small stain on the back seat, but I'm sure it's nothing a good detail job wouldn't take care of. The carpet is also clean, but has stains form normal use. I would give it an 7 out of 10. The pictures represent it well also.

There isn't anything that would keep me from driving this truck cross-country tomorrow. We have had it for a little over a year now and it has proven to be a reliable truck. The only thing that I can think of that would need replacing is the tires. They are not bald, but they are worn down to the wear bars. They would be fine to drive it home on and would probably last you the rest of the summer and fall, but I would recommend replacing them before driving in snow.

This vehicle is available from now until the end of the auction for inspections and test drives. If you'd like to come and see it in person before bidding, send me a message through ebay and we'll set something up. By bidding, you are entering into a legally binding contract to purchase a vehicle.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Shipping is not being offered on this truck. If you need shipping, feel free to arrange it with a vehicle shipper of your choice. I will do my best to assist your shipper in any way possible, but I will not be responsible for any damages to the vehicle during shipment. The truck is located in Knox, Indiana. The zip code is 46534. If you'd like to fly in and drive the truck home, I'd be happy to pick you up at Midway airport in Chicago, or South Bend Regional airport in South Bend, Indiana as long as you fly in on the weekend. I have a full time job that prevents me from traveling during the week.

This vehicle is being offered at NO RESERVE! The winning bider at the end of the auction drives it home. There is a $200 deposit due within 24 hours if the end of the auction via PAYPAL. The remainder of the winning bid is to be paid in CASH at the time of vehicle pickup. Pickup is to be no later than 7 days after the end of the auction. If you are not willing or able to meet any or all of these terms, please don't waste your time or mine by bidding. I am a very honest and straightforward person and if we are to do business, you should be also.

Thanks for looking, and Happy Bidding!

We really want to use an eCrate to restomod an old GM car. Here's what we'd build

Fri, Oct 30 2020

You hopefully saw the news today of GM's introduction of its Connect and Cruise eCrate motor and battery package, which effectively makes the Bolt's electric motor, battery pack and myriad other elements available to, ah, bolt into a different vehicle. It's the same concept as installing a gasoline-powered crate motor into a classic car, but with electricity and stuff.  This, of course, got us thinking about what we'd stuff the eCrate into. Before we got too ahead of ourselves, however, we discovered that the eCrate battery pack is literally the Bolt EV pack in not only capacity but size and shape. In other words, you need to have enough space in the vehicle to place and/or stuff roughly 60% of a Chevy Bolt's length. It's not a big car, but that's still an awful lot of real estate. There's a reason GM chose to simply plop the pack into the bed and cargo area of old full-size SUVs. Well that, and having a rear suspension beefy enough to handle about 1,000 pounds of batteries.  So after that buzz kill, we still wanted to peruse the GM back catalog for classics we'd love to see transformed into an electric restomod that might be able to swallow all that battery ... maybe ... possibly ... whatever, saws and blow torches exist for a reason.  1971 Buick Riviera Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski: If you’re going to build an electric conversion, why not do it with style? ThatÂ’s why IÂ’m choosing a 1971-1973 Buick Riviera. You know, the one with the big glass boat-tail rear end that ends in a pointy V. Being a rather large vehicle with a big sloping fastback shape, IÂ’m hoping thereÂ’s enough room in the trunk and back seat to pack in the requisite battery pack. That would likely require cutting away some of the metal bulkhead that supports the rear seatback, but not so much that a wee bit of structural bracing couldnÂ’t shore things up. The big 455-cubic-inch Buick V8 up front will obviously have to go. Remember, this was the 1970s, so despite all that displacement, the Riviera only had around 250 horsepower (depending on the year and the trim level). So the electric motorÂ’s 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque ought to work as an acceptable replacement.   1982 Chevrolet S10 Associate Editor Byron Hurd: OK, so the name "E-10" is already taken by a completely different truck, but let's not let labels get in the way of a fun idea.

New auto loans could soon extend out to 84 months

Sun, Apr 22 2018

Cars and trucks are more expensive than ever before. In order to boost sales and help consumers afford new vehicles, automakers are offering longer and longer terms for auto loans. This past week, Bloomberg reported that FCA's Ram Trucks division is currently offering the longest loans. Some stretch to 73 months. Jeep, Fiat and Chevy aren't far behind. More noteworthy is that we'll likely soon see lenders moving from 73-month to 84-month loans. That's seven years worth of interest. More than two-thirds of US auto sales come from light trucks like the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado and Ram 1500. The average transaction price of a new vehicle is well over $30,000. It's not difficult to spec out a heavily-optioned truck up to $60,000. Vehicles depreciate from the moment they roll off a dealer lot, and these six or seven-year loans could hurt consumers and lenders both in the long run. The U.S. Senate voted last week to kill rules that would prevent discriminatory auto lending. These Obama-era guidelines were meant to curtail lenders who offered higher loans based on race, religion, sex or national origin. The Fate of the Furious music video shows how much Demons love donuts

Fri, Mar 3 2017

The new Dodge Demon is leaking into everything related to The Fate of the Furious in the lead-up to both the car and the film's debut in just over a month. The latest teaser involves Demons doing donuts and burnouts in the Get Off music video, with copious amounts of both tire smoke and hip hop to accompany the tire-shredding shenanigans. It also gives us a look at some of the film's other cars. Get Off is a song by Travis Scott, Quavo, and Lil Uzi that's featured on The Fate of the Furious soundtrack, which is out now. The teaser for the music video features a pack of Dodge Challengers - both Demon and non-Demon spec - along with a line of non-SRT related products. From what we can see, the movie will have a Scion FR-S/Toyota 86, a highly modified C2 generation Chevrolet Corvette, and a Mercedes-AMG GT S. In typical over-the-top fashion, the final shot shows a submarine bursting through ice in pursuit of several cars, including a Subaru WRX. We can't see much else as the full music video hasn't been released, but expect a few more teasers once it does. The Fate of the Furious debuts Friday, April 14, just days after the Dodge Demon's debut at the New York Auto Show.
