WANT TO SELL ASAP....$5650 OBO

NO TRADES

Up for sale is my 1999 Chevrolet Silverado. Truck has around 171,000 miles. Interior is in very good condition, body is in good condition, rust is starting around passenger wheel well and passenger cab corner. Both rockers have holes in them but are well within range to be replaced. Mechanically, absolutely nothing is wrong with the truck. I just had it undercoated this past November at Delta Sonic. This vehicle has always been religiously maintained, with all fluids being check/changed regularly. I only run non-ethanol 91 octane gas in her. The oil gets changed every 5,000 miles with full synthetic and a premium oil filter. I currently have a K&N premium air filter that I installed at around 160,000 miles. A set of BF Goodrich All-Terrain KOs size LT265/75-R16s were mounted at 162,000 miles. A new rear end with only 30,000 miles was installed at 170,000 miles, now the truck has a Posi-Track unit. The entire top end of the motor was rebuilt at ~130,000 miles, and we have full service records to go with it. KBB lists this truck in the current condition (in fact worse off) at $6,021 (http://www.kbb.com/chevrolet/silverado-1500-extended-cab/1999-chevrolet-silverado-1500-extended-cab/short-bed/?condition=fair&vehicleid=5215&intent=trade-in-sell&options=200186%7Ctrue%7C200212%7Ctrue%7C200232%7Ctrue%7C200237%7Ctrue%7C200249%7Ctrue%7C200335%7Ctrue%7C200199%7Ctrue%7C200207%7Ctrue%7C200265%7Ctrue%7C200339%7Ctrue%7C200364%7Ctrue%7C200377%7Ctrue&mileage=171000&pricetype=private-party&quizconditions=2%7C3%7C1%7C1%7C1%7C1%7C0%7C0%7C0%7C0%7C0%7C1%7C0%7C0%7C0%7C0). I want to sell ASAP so I'm open to offers but no low-ballers, so don't waste my time or yours. I can't cover everything about the truck here so any questions please call/text (585) 520-9604.

Here's a video I made a couple years ago of the truck: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuRIN0T2nFs

I will also be giving seat covers, floor mats, and some car maintenance items away with sale.

Cap stays with the truck.

Autonomous tech will drive motorheads off the road

Thu, Nov 9 2017

While autonomous technology could make car travel much safer and more efficient — and automakers and marketers are salivating over the prospect of a "passenger economy" that could potentially generate $7 trillion by 2050 — those of us who enjoy driving are not so stoked. Experts have predicted that as autonomous vehicles are deployed in large numbers, human-driven cars eventually could be outlawed on public roads due to the carnage they create, which is currently more than 41,000 deaths a year in the U.S. alone and climbing. Such scenarios have driving enthusiasts envisioning a "Red Barchetta" style nightmare becoming reality, making Rush lyricist Neil Peart a clairvoyant as well as one of rock's most badass skin-pounders. But there could be a couple of refuges left for motorheads, and they won't be on public roads. As Popular Science's Joe Brown points out in a recent editorial, we're seeing a wave of vehicles being offered by legit mainstream automakers that aren't made for public roads. The poster child of this vanguard is the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which comes with a crate full of goodies that lets you turn the already formidable street-legal muscle car into a drag-strip dominator. Brown also notes that two out of five of the Ford GT's driving modes are for use on the track, "catering to the $450,000 machine's club-racing clientele." We're also currently enjoying the heyday of production off-road-ready pickups that kicked off with the Ford Raptor in 2009. The latest salvo in this escalating war of overachieving trucks is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 that can take on the likes of California's Rubicon Trail without issue. Brown also gives a shout-out to his magazine's Grand Award Winner, the Alta Motors Redshift MX, which "isn't even allowed on public roads" and is "meant for bombing around motocross tracks, big backyards and single-track woods trails." If you follow Brown on Instagram, you know that he's also a two-wheel aficionado, and he points out that sales of off-road bikes are leaving street machines in the dust. Sales of off-highway motorcycles rose 29 percent between 2012 and 2016, according to the Motorcycle Industry Council — compared to 6 percent for road-bike sales during the same period. "That's a nearly 400-percent drubbing," Brown remarks.

2023 Chevrolet Silverado HD reportedly getting mammoth torque

Wed, Sep 15 2021

Chevrolet just gave the light-duty Silverado a significant round of updates. It hasn't detailed the changes it has in store for the heavy-duty model yet, but a recent report claims the truck will arrive with significant engine upgrades. Without citing sources, website TFL Truck reported that the current pickup's 6.6-liter Duramax turbodiesel V8 will return in the updated model. Its displacement won't increase, but its output will reportedly grow to 505 horsepower and a mammoth 1,085 pound-feet of torque. To put those figures into perspective, the 6.6-liter makes 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of twist in the 2022 Silverado HD; GMC's Sierra HD is available with it as well. Bumping the Duramax's output is a way to keep up with the competition. Arch nemesis Ford offers buyers who have extremely heavy things to tow 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque from a 6.7-liter turbodiesel V8. Over at Ram, the most powerful engine available in a heavy-duty truck posts numbers of 420 and 1,075, respectively. If the report is accurate, Chevrolet will enviably take the horsepower and the torque crowns in the segment. What remains to be seen is what effect the increases will have on the Silverado's towing capacity. As of writing, it's capable of towing up to 36,000 pounds (approximately 15 times the weight of a 2021 Mazda MX-5 Miata). Moving out of the engine bay, the 2023 Silverado HD will receive an updated exterior design that will again help differentiate it from the smaller, light-duty model. We're expecting the next round of updates will also bring new tech features, and it's reasonable to assume that the trim structure will evolve; Chevrolet might notably shift the HD in a more outdoorsy direction to satisfy a growing demand for off-road-focused trucks in the United States. None of this is official; Chevrolet is keeping its lips sealed about the updated Silverado HD. Full details will likely emerge in the coming months, and sales are tentatively scheduled to start in time for the 2023 model year.
