Your search for the classic truck of your dreams is over. This beautiful purple 1956 Chevy short bed is just the ticket. I bought it as just a frame, bare cab and front sheet metal so you name it I had to buy it. It is powered by a new GMPP 350 RamJet fuel injected crate motor that pumps out 350 hp and 400 lb ft of torque. It has a polished billet Vintage Air Front Runner system and coated headers that flow into 2.5" stainless steel exhaust with an H pipe & Flowmasters. The engine is backed up by a modified 700R4 overdrive trans with a 2500 converter and a Lokar shifter. The TCI suspension consists of a power Mustang II rack, 4 link with coil overs and a Ford SVO 3.45 posi rear. 4 wheel power disc brakes with an under cab booster and master cylinder handle the stops and it rides on 17" Billet Specialties wheels wrapped in Kumho tires. It features a 1994 Sport Side bed and a reverse flip hood. Countless hours were spent getting the body of this outstanding truck just right and the paint is deep and slick. There is one small blemish in the paint above the left front wheel that does not show up in pictures and can't be seen when the truck is on the ground. I will get it fixed before selling the truck. All of the chrome, aqua tinted glass and weather strips were replaced during the restoration. The interior has gray leather power GM buckets and gray tweed Rod Doors panels, The dash houses purple Dakota Digital gauges in a new factory bezel, the controls to the ice cold Vintage Air and a JVC CD player. The sound system is completed with a Kenwood amp and 4 Rockford Fosgate speakers. An IDIDIT tilt column, center console and seat belts round out the interior. The truck was wired with an American Autowire harness that is specific to the truck. It has an under bed 15 gallon aluminum fuel tank with a TPI internal pump, It is kept cool with a custom aluminum radiator with a censor controlled 3000 cfm electric fan.I built the truck to drive so the frame is painted black and it is undercoated. If you're looking for a classic truck don't miss out on this opportunity to own one of the cleanest 56s I've ever seen. Interesting GM trades will be considered and if you have any questions call Brian at 865 908-7731 before 10 PM EST.This truck is listed on other web sites for much more and is for sale locally. I reserve the right to end this listing early. Spring is almost here and it's time to get that new toy you have wanted all winter.    *** MAKE ME AN OFFER. THE BOSS SAYS IT NEEDS TO GO***

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon get updated tachometers due to graphical error

Sun, Feb 8 2015

After James Bearing bought a Chevrolet Colorado, he noticed a discrepancy between the truck's spec sheet and the truck's tachometer: Chevrolet said 3.6-liter V6 in the little pickup produces 305 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, but the the tachometer indicates a redline at 6,500 rpm. So either he wasn't making as much power as he was promised, or the tachometer display was incorrect. Bearing said he asked Chevy about it but got no response. Until now. A General Motors spokesman said the rev limiter is indeed set for 6,800 rpm, but the tach graphics "are slightly off" in the Colorado and the GMC Canyon, and submitted an SAE horsepower certification to back him up. If you're wondering how such a thing got past quality control... well, let's just say you're not alone. GM is going to fix "the graphics on future trucks," which makes it sound like Bearing will just have to learn to live with the indicated redline he's got. He could always pretend he's driving a sleeper, with four more ponies waiting to be unlocked in the danger zone for those who dare. 2021 Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon facelift spied

Fri, Sep 20 2019

The Chevy Colorado and its GMC Canyon twin have been on sale for a good long time now, and while things move a little more slowly on the truck side when it comes to facelifts and model changeovers, it seems like it’s about time. So itÂ’s no surprise to see some lightly camouflaged trucks running around ahead of what appears to be a minor refresh for the 2021 model year. Starting with the Colorado, it appears to have a bowtie hiding behind some camo in the center of the grille, which otherwise looks like the no-bowtie option you can get on 2019-and-up trucks. It could be that Chevy is keeping the no-bowtie grille design but allowing a bowtie to grace it, or it could be misdirection. Either way, the grille pattern adds a bit of flair to the otherwise staid front end design. There also appears to be a bit more shape to the lower air inlet, with echoes of some of the lower fascias of its bigger Silverado stablemate. The Canyon, on the other hand, shows more extensive front-end changes. At first glance, it looks to emulate some variants of the GMC Sierra, which would make sense given those modelsÂ’ changes for the 2020 model year. In particular, this Canyon has hints of Sierra HD, being more square and monolithic than the regular Sierra 1500s, although itÂ’s a little hard to tell with the camo covering the edges of the grille. It could certainly also adopt more rounded corners like the 1500s. Either way, itÂ’s more vertical and thereÂ’s less differentiation between the upper grille and lower opening. ThereÂ’s nothing in the way of changes around the sides or back, and while there may be some minor changes inside, we arenÂ’t expecting any. The word around town is that this isnÂ’t a full facelift, but rather a minor front end tweak thatÂ’ll just be a regular part of the model-year changeover.Â
