1972 Chevy C-30 4X4 One Ton Stake Body Dually Plow Truck  This truck is a beast. It was a wrecker back in the day. It has custom fabricated front bumper and stake body with slots for sides and back. It comes with 5' high pressure treated ply and 2X4 sides with back hinging doors for hauling things to the dump. The back end was recently redone with 1/4" diamond plate and structural U Channel criss crossing underneath. It has a Pintal and Reese hitch. All outside lights work and it had recent inspection. The front breaks were recently done and rear are good. Front tires are like new and rear duels are good and pass inspection. No dry rot. Engine is great running 350 with high and low four speed. it has a nice short wheel base for plowing and is lifted for better visability. Everything on the truck is super heavy duty. I hauled 16 railroad ties and the springs started to squat. The interior is clean with good solid floor, bucket seats out of a Blazer, lit oil and temp gauges, working speedometer. Heater works but not fan. I recently installed new cab corners and driver rocker panel. Skins on doors were next. But decided to sell to buy a small dump. Doors could be replaced if need be but they function. Fenders are good with some rust but are fixable. Grill is nice and all there. The back of cab is rusted through near replaced cab corner but is fixable. A couple cab mounts need work. A guy I know in Corning, NY just built some for a truck. There is plenty of steel to mount them to. Frame is real solid like new. Dual exhaust is tight. All glass is good except passenger door glass is gone. Found one on Ebay for $50. The plow is a manual tilt. Pull a pin and it moves easy. It has an electric lift with an extra lift as a backup. The plow is in decent shape and goes on and off easy. A set of front chains are included.

I have never seen a C-30 like it around here. They crushed them because they were so heavy. I've had the truck for eight years and it always starts and stops. Its great for hauling and moving lots of weight. You could put a fifth wheel hitch on it and pull a camper. You could mount a small crane on it and move big rocks. It has a lot of life left in it for being 41 years old. Check it out! Call me if you want more photos or have questions. It takes for ever to upload photos to Ebay. Mike 607 368 6000

2021 Cadillac Escalade, GMC Yukon, Chevy Suburban/Tahoe recalled for stall risk

Mon, Oct 4 2021

General Motors is recalling just shy of 15,000 2021 Cadillac Escalade & Escalade ESVs, Chevrolet Suburbans and Tahoes, GMC Yukons and Yukon XLs that were shipped with fuel pumps that were built with a batch of what may be faulty electronic control modules. A pump with a bad module can result in intermittent function, resulting in drivability issues and potential stalls. No serious incidents or injuries have been associated with the issue.  GM says it discovered the issue after analyzing early recall data for the 2021 model SUVs and discovering an unusually high failure rate for fuel pumps manufactured by a single supplier – Vitesco. The company was able to identify the batch and initiate a recall campaign targeting just those vehicles.  "After reviewing the field data, GM determined there were 617 potentially relevant complaints, which were received between April 15, 2020 and August 24, 2021," the company's recall report said. "229 of these complaints reported a stall while standing or moving. No accidents or injuries associated with this condition were found." Any SUVs built with pumps from that batch but not yet sold are being held at dealers for replacement parts. It may take some time for GM to source replacements due to the ongoing electronic parts shortages.  "We are working with the supplier to obtain the required parts as quickly as possible," GM said in its notice to dealers. "When sufficient quantity of parts are available, the recall bulletin will be released and dealers can begin repairing vehicles."

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?

Thu, Jun 23 2016

The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose!
