This Nova is originally from Arizona (I have the plates and title) and has a really clean body. No rust issues and the driver's side front floor pan and transmission tunnel were replaced and coated with POR 15 due to a previous owner/hackjob of installing a standard transmission. The car was originally equipped with power brakes, front discs and power steering. I had a Chris Alston six-point roll cage (1 3/4 x .134 mild steel with hip height door bars) professionally installed by R&D Race Cars on South Congress in Austin. Comes with an original steel hood and a fiberglass Harwood hinged hood with low tension hood springs. Front fenders and hood are off the car in preparation for paint but come with the car.
The front subframe, upper and lower control arms and front core support were removed from the car, sandblasted and then powder coated black. Completely new front suspension kit; tie rods, ball joints, polygraphite bushings and body mounts, new front sbc coil springs. CPP complete 2" drop spindle power brake kit including CNC 4130 chrom-moly 2" drop spindles, 11" rotors, new calipers, pads, bearings, hardware, stainless brake hoses and new power brake booster and master cylinder. The entire front end is brand new, except for the power steering box that has been checked out. Complete new wiring harness from American Autowire (Classic Update Kit 500878) that includes every socket, connector, fuse box, flasher and switch. Front bench and rear seat recovered in black, original style upholstery from Classic Industries. New aftermarket steering wheel, Hurst QuarterStick shifter, Front wheels are Coy's C5 17x7 in gun metal gray with a polished lip and brand new BF Goodrich G-Force tires from Discount Tire. Trunk mounted red top Optima battery. Engine is a 2007 5.3l from a Chevrolet Avalanche that had 20k miles on it before it was broadsided. Local shop went through the engine and installed an AutoKraft 5/12 quart fabricated 1st generation Camaro/Firebird oil pan with pick up tube. Engine needs the cam and heads of your choice, but I can include some Camaro 241 heads if you'd like. Return style fuel system with a new Holley blue pump, braided line and Holley HP regulator. New Dynatech MuscleMAXX headers, 1 7/8 primaries/3" collectors that are silver ceramic coated. New Edlebrock Performer RPM LS1 intake manifold and MSD ignition controller (Part 7118). Mighty Demon 750 cfm carburetor. Truck style coil packs. Freshly built Turbo 400 transmission with new 3400 stall converter. Driveshaft done by Longview Driveshaft/4x4. Back wheels and rearend are still the same as when I got the car. I intended to buy a pair of 17x9 Coy's C5 wheels for the back when I got to the back of the car. Car needs the cam and heads of your choice and a radiator to run. I have a notebook with $13,000+ worth of receipts for the Nova, no expense was spared; I never intended on selling it. Comes with other assorted spare Nova parts and pieces I've collected over the last eight years. |

Chevy Silverado Special Ops will go into limited production
Tue, Dec 15 2015Remember the Special Ops edition Silverado? Chevy showcased it as a show truck at SEMA last month. And now it's going into limited production, and proceeds will support the National Navy SEAL Museum. The special pickup was based on a Silverado 1500 in Z71 spec and done up with a special three-tone paint job inspired by the camouflage used on 20th-century warships. Known as Razzle Dazzle, the camo was designed to disguise a ship's form and movements from enemy vessels. Chevy also fitted the show truck with a sport bar, off-road LEDs, lower- and under-body reinforcement, and flared wheel arches packing special 20-inch wheels. Following its debut at SEMA, former GM chairman Dan Akerson (a US Naval Academy alum) and retired Navy SEAL Master Chief Rick Kaiser presented the concept truck at the 116th Army-Navy football game this past weekend. Chevy hasn't said just how many it will build and at what price, but production is slated to be "limited," going on sale in the spring. Autonomous tech will drive motorheads off the road
Thu, Nov 9 2017While autonomous technology could make car travel much safer and more efficient — and automakers and marketers are salivating over the prospect of a "passenger economy" that could potentially generate $7 trillion by 2050 — those of us who enjoy driving are not so stoked. Experts have predicted that as autonomous vehicles are deployed in large numbers, human-driven cars eventually could be outlawed on public roads due to the carnage they create, which is currently more than 41,000 deaths a year in the U.S. alone and climbing. Such scenarios have driving enthusiasts envisioning a "Red Barchetta" style nightmare becoming reality, making Rush lyricist Neil Peart a clairvoyant as well as one of rock's most badass skin-pounders. But there could be a couple of refuges left for motorheads, and they won't be on public roads. As Popular Science's Joe Brown points out in a recent editorial, we're seeing a wave of vehicles being offered by legit mainstream automakers that aren't made for public roads. The poster child of this vanguard is the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which comes with a crate full of goodies that lets you turn the already formidable street-legal muscle car into a drag-strip dominator. Brown also notes that two out of five of the Ford GT's driving modes are for use on the track, "catering to the $450,000 machine's club-racing clientele." We're also currently enjoying the heyday of production off-road-ready pickups that kicked off with the Ford Raptor in 2009. The latest salvo in this escalating war of overachieving trucks is the Chevy Colorado ZR2 that can take on the likes of California's Rubicon Trail without issue. Brown also gives a shout-out to his magazine's Grand Award Winner, the Alta Motors Redshift MX, which "isn't even allowed on public roads" and is "meant for bombing around motocross tracks, big backyards and single-track woods trails." If you follow Brown on Instagram, you know that he's also a two-wheel aficionado, and he points out that sales of off-road bikes are leaving street machines in the dust. Sales of off-highway motorcycles rose 29 percent between 2012 and 2016, according to the ÂMotorcycle Industry Council — compared to 6 percent for road-bike sales during the same period. "That's a nearly 400-percent drubbing," Brown remarks.
GM recalls half-million full-size SUVs to address seatbelt issue
Tue, Aug 16 2022GM is recalling its redesigned full-size SUV models to address improperly riveted mounts securing the third-row seatbelts that may fail in the event of an accident. The population includes the 2021-2022 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, 2021-2022 Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe, and 2021-2022 model year GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, for a total of 484,155 vehicles. "Operators at the supplier’s manufacturing plant may have not properly followed manufacturing processes and inadvertently missed the rivet forming operation," GM said in its defect report to NHTSA. "In certain of these vehicles, the rivet that retains the buckle to the mounting bracket in the left or right side third-row seatbelt buckle assembly may not have been properly formed during the manufacturing process. If the third-row seatbelt assembly is not properly riveted, it may not properly restrain occupants in a crash, increasing the risk of injury." Fortunately, the fix is relatively simple. GM service technicians will inspect the rivets on the rear seatbelt buckle assemblies and replace the entire unit if the rivets are not to spec.
