This is one of the nicest Monte Carlo's of this vintage that I have ever seen. It gets comments everywhere it goes. Simply stunning. There is not a speck of rust on this car, completely solid. You can eat off of the engine bay it's so clean. The underneath is as clean as the top, no rust all original and no repairs. The interior is great as well. Brand new carpet, brand new seats, brand new head liner. The outside features brand new paint that is flawless and beautiful. It shines and looks deep enough to put your hand in it! The wheels are also brand new American Racing torque thrust's with painted spokes and polished rim.
This car runs perfectly. Sounds pretty amazing too with brand new flowmaster dual exhaust done right. Including an h pipe and new hangers. Makes for that perfect, deep, throaty sound without being overly loud. It's just right. She starts right up the instant the key is turned. Never ever has it run hot, just purrs right along no matter what traffic is doing. It has separate gauges for engine temp, battery voltage and oil pressure. All stay exactly where they should. I've had it on the highway for a few trips and it runs at speed with no issues at all. She just floats down the road like a dream! No wandering, no vibrations.
The brakes are great. Power brakes with rotors up front. They haul her down as they should. The radio works but the previous owner removed the speakers before selling it. I've never bothered to replace them because I don't normally go very far in it and I love the sound that the engine makes. You can add them back if you like, it's already wired. No leaks at all. Also, all of the seals on this car are brand new. The A-arm bushings are also in great shape, a common problem with these cars. The body pucks are also in great shape, no sagging at all. Notice the body panel gaps. They are all perfect. Absolutely perfect. This body is straight as can be.
The chrome is also stunning. In amazing shape! One of my favorite things to do with this car is polish it's chrome and it is stunning how it shines. The vinyl top is also brand new and in perfect shape. The glass has no chips or cracks in it.This is a factory air car but it needs to be recharged. I never really need it considering the windows on this thing are massive!  She only has 75k miles on it and it really shows. This is the first year for the Monte Carlo and finding one in this condition is truly rare. You won't be disappointed.
The only reason I am selling it is I have my eye on a local Mopar and this one has to go first. Yes, I really am thinking about crossing over to the "dark side" LOL. I bought this car at Mecum after going over it with a fine tooth comb beforehand. I was lucky (and determined) enough to win the highest bid. I've loved it ever since but the call of change gets louder and it's time to find another great car to enjoy. The pictures are from the day after I bought it. Still looks exactly the same. Feel free to contact me with any questions you might have and I'll be happy to help. Don't miss this one, it's a true gem!

What if the mid-engine Corvette is really a Cadillac?
Tue, Jun 28 2016Call me crazy, but I'm not convinced the mid-engine Corvette is the next Corvette. The rumor is strong, yes. And, contrary to some of the comments on our site, Car and Driver - leader of the mid-engine Corvette speculation brigade - has a pretty good record predicting future models. But it's another comment that got me thinking: or maybe it's a Cadillac. There is clearly something mid-engine going on at GM, and I think it makes sense for the car to be a Cadillac. First off, check out how sweet the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept car still looks in the photo above. Second, there are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. There are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. The C7 is relatively young in Corvette years, starting production almost three years ago as a 2014 model. Showing a 2019 model at the 2018 North American International Auto Show would kill sales of a strong-selling car before its time. Not to mention it would only mean a short run for the Grand Sport, which was the best-selling version of the previous generation. More stuff doesn't add up. Mid-engine cars are, in general, more expensive. Moving the Vette upmarket leaves a void that the Camaro does not fill. There's not much overlap between Camaro and Corvette customers. Corvette owners are older and enjoy features like a big trunk that holds golf clubs. Mid-engine means less trunk space and alienating a happy, loyal buyer. Also, more than 60 years of history. The Corvette is an icon along the likes of the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang. I'm not sure the car-buying public wants a Corvette that abandons all previous conventions. And big changes bring uncertainty - I don't think GM would make such a risky bet. Chevrolet could build a mid-engine ZR1, you might say, and keep the other Corvettes front-engine. Yes they could, and it would cost a ton of money. And they still need to fund development of that front-engine car. I highly doubt the corporate accountants would go for that. But a Cadillac? Totally. Cadillac is in the middle of a brand repositioning. GM is throwing money at this effort. A mid-engine halo car is the just the splash the brand needs to shake off the ghosts of Fleetwoods past. And it's already in Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen's playbook. He was in charge of Audi's North America arm when the R8 came out. A Caddy sports car priced above $100,000 isn't that unreasonable when you can already price a CTS-V in that range.
eBay Find of the Day: 1990 Chevy 1500 454 SS with just 7 miles
Sun, Jan 4 2015When trawling the classifieds either on a buying mission or merely a time-wasting mission, we spend a lot of time poring over photographs comparing the seller's idea of "Like New!" with our idea of it. It's hard to argue with seven original miles on the odometer, though, which is what this 1990 Chevrolet 1500 454 SS has. It's being sold by Country Chevrolet on eBay, the same dealer who sold the truck to its one and only owner 25 years ago. The purchaser bought two of them and left this one in a garage under a car cover, said garage being less than seven miles away from the showroom floor. Better yet, you can buy with confidence because the seller "has collected all records," which we expect would be the slimmest manilla folder in the history of receipt-keeping. For those unfamiliar, the 454 SS was a half-ton, regular cab, 2WD pickup powered by a 454 cubic inch (7.4-liter) V8 with 230 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque shifting through a three-speed transmission. This was at the same time the Chevrolet Corvette used a 5.7-liter V8 producing 250 hp and 350 lb-ft. The pickup rode on exclusive wheels and only came in black with red cloth inside. The only extra-cost option on this example is an $18 locking fuel filler cap, which, according to the 454ss forum, means it should have cost about $18,460 out the door, the equivalent of about $34,000 today. At the time of writing there are zero bids, but proceedings open at $45,000 and Country Chevrolet wants $49,000 if you have to have your time capsule right now.
Driving McLaren's Sports Car and 'The Best Corvette' at the M1 Concourse | AutoblogVR
Wed, Apr 12 2017There's nothing better than a track day. Great cars on a great track are always great fun. Recently, we had the opportunity to check out the new M1 Concourse in Pontiac, MI, with two of the coolest cars in the game; a McLaren 570S and a Corvette Grand Sport. Driving the 570S was Autoblog senior editor Greg Migliore, and he didn't hold back. Getting behind the wheel of the McLaren, Greg explains that although this is McLaren's idea of a sports car, "it's all relative." Topping out at 204 miles per hour with 562 horsepower, there's no two ways about it: this thing is a monster. While the 570S was fantastic, we had another sports car we wanted to drive and editor-in-chief Mike Austin was just the man for the job. Enter the Corvette Grand Sport. Mike pushed all 460 horses of the 'Vette to the limit and came away impressed with the car, even calling it "the best Corvette." Comparing it to its more powerful sibling, the Z06, Mike goes so far as to say the Z06 has too much power, while the Grand Sport seems to be the third bear's bowl of porridge in the Corvette family... It's just right. We captured all the action of the day with 360° cameras so you can feel like you're right there in the car sitting shotgun with us! You can check out the McLaren and Corvette laps above, but the best way to view them is through the AutoblogVR app, where you can watch the videos on your VR headset or in a nice swivel-y office chair so you can take in the sights all around you. Each month, new episodes will launch on the AutoblogVR App. We'll be posting them here on Autoblog, but for the best experience, head over to the app, which you can download for free from the App store and Google Play. Be sure to try it with a cardboard viewer, too!
