Chevrolet Monte Carlo Base Model on 2040-cars
Milton Freewater, Oregon, United States
This beautiful 1970 Monte Carlo has been assembled over the course of several years, with much attention to detail and built to be driven on a regular basis. The body is free of squeaks and rattles, the window glass is adjusted so there is virtually no wind noise while driving, and the alignment allows fantastic handling with zero tire wear. The cowl hood is all steel with a reinforcement along both sides, full length, and a support bracket to eliminate the flutter along the top edge of the opening associated with high speed when drag racing. The tires are all perfectly balanced so there is no vibrations at or above freeway speeds. There is zero curb rash on any of the wheels. The interior is incredibly comfortable with an extra 1/2" layer of high density foam backing built into the upholstery. The front seat back frames were modified to eliminate the headrest, without simply removing them and laying the fabric over the top of the opening. The seat belts are custom made with aircraft style buckles, DOT approved, and color match is spot on. The beauty has the look and the sound to turn heads wherever you go, and it will run consistent at the track on pump 91 octane fuel run after run with absolutely no issues. The motor had a very recent tune up with new spark plugs, new plug wires custom fit to run under the headers and across the back of the motor, to the HEI distributor with MSD 6AL spark box. This unit has a rev limiter featured as well. The transmission is a TH350 with a Hughes torque converter and a Hughes deep cast aluminum pan as well. The pan has a drain plug, but the fluid and filter are changed regularly. The rear axle is a BOP 10 bolt, with 3.73:1 gears on an Auburn posi unit. It hooks up straight and makes no noise. The gears are very quiet as are the bearings. Wheels are 15 X 8 in the rear, 15 X 3.5 front. Tires are Mickey Thompson 295-65-15 and Firestone 215-75-15. Both sets have more than 70% tread remaining.

2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers
Fri, Oct 31 2014If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. GM may have teased a whole group of electric vehicles
Tue, Jan 12 2021During GM's big CES press conference, the automaker highlighted a number of its upcoming electric car-related projects from delivery vans to the upcoming flagship Cadillac Celestiq. In the middle of it all, a collection of mystery cars sat in the background behind speakers. They were in the dark, lit only with their running lights, and while it's possible they're just generic filler cars or concepts, we think they could be future products. Our best shot of the cars together is shown above, and we can pretty easily identify three of the vehicles. In the center is obviously the GMC Hummer EV. On either side of it are Cadillacs. To the left seems to be the Lyriq crossover, and to the right is the Celestiq sedan. Two of these cars have production dates, and the third has been confirmed for eventual production, just without timing. This is why we think the rest of the cars are upcoming models. The next most easily identified car is on the near right behind the Cadillac Celestiq. It very clearly has a Chevy bowtie illuminated in the running lights. And looking closely, it appears to be a pickup truck. It's difficult to make out anything more than that. The nose does look a bit more rounded and swept back than the brick-like designs of the Silverado truck line. That also squares with what seemed to be the upcoming truck that appeared in the background of yet another GM presentation. GM previously said this electric Chevy truck will be a full-size model with up to 400 miles of range. That leaves us with three more mysterious models. Over to the left behind the Cadillac Lyriq are what appear to be a pair of crossovers. The one on the far left looks low, curvy, and possibly with a fastback roof. The one on the right is taller, boxier, and probably more of a full-size people hauler. It's hard to say much more beyond that. They could be new electric Buicks, which would fit in nicely with that brand's crossover portfolio, and would likely be highly successful in China, where Buicks, crossovers and electric cars are all rather hot commodities. As for the mystery car on the far right, it's quite a puzzle. We can at least rule out Buick and Cadillac, and GMC since it's definitely a car, and a rather small one compared with the other cars on display. That leaves Chevy, and possibly the autonomous division Cruise. We're leaning toward it being a Chevy, since the first Cruise vehicle is going to be a boxy pod of sorts.
Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
