2000 Chevy Monte Carlo Ss Pace Car on 2040-cars
Bushkill, Pennsylvania, United States
Up for sale is a beautiful 2000 Monte Carlo SS Pace Car that has been well maintained and stored in the garage. The car drives well and starts up whenever you need it even after months of storage. If you are a NASCAR fan, this official Pace Car replica (all original badges, etc.) will give you that warm and fuzzy feeling as you cruise down a highway with the sun-roof opened.
The car has all of the options that were available back in 2000 for the Monte Carlo line of Chevrolet. The seats are still in great shape and provide plenty of comfort. The trunk is large and rear seats fold in for extra cargo capacity. The car has also been outfitted with a trailer hitch, and the wonderful 3800 Series V6 has quite a bit of torque and power to pull a trailer up Pennsylvania's hills. In addition to the original set of wheels (Bridgestone Potenza tires), the car will also be sold with a full set of winter wheels/tires (Michelin X-Ice). Now about the history of this car: I've been a fan of Monte Carlos for some time and had a special interest in Pace Cars (http://www.seriouswheels.com/cars/top-2001-2003-Chevrolet-Monte-Carlo-Pace-Cars.htm) So, when I came across this one being sold (back in 2006) as a salvage with only 45,000 miles on it, I couldn't help it but "adopt" and give it a new home. I had the car restored (radiator support, right front rail, engine cradle replaced, and painted professionally). The car was then inspected by a qualified shop for road worthiness and after 3 months of wait time, it received a Reconstructed/rebuilt" title. Since then I drove the car daily and put another 100,000 miles on it. I still love it and it is extremely hard to part with it but we are moving to a smaller house and storing this car inside a garage would no longer be an option. I would rather pass it on to someone who is as passionate about these beauties and who's willing to take on a reconstructed title. Disclaimer: The car is currently registered in the state of Pennsylvania. I can meet a potential buyer locally. Please email to arrange a time for meet up. I will consider reasonable offers. |

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
It won't be long now before Nissan Leaf finally overtakes Chevy Volt
Thu, Dec 25 2014The two best-selling plug-in vehicles ever are the Chevy Volt and the Nissan Leaf. When the two vehicles launched in late 2010, the plug-in hybrid Volt quickly outpaced the all-electric Leaf and, despite lots of ups and downs since then, continues to hold on to a cumulative sales lead. This will change in 2015. Cumulatively, from November 2010 through November 2014, the Volt sold 71,867 units while the Leaf trails with 69,220. That's a difference of just 2,647. Based on current trends (with the Leaf selling around 2,500-2,700 a month and the Volt at 1,500-1,700) we expect the Leaf to take over either in January or, more likely, February when the Leaf takes over as the most popular plug-in car in America. Perhaps even March, depending on how low the numbers are for January and February, which are always slow sales months in the US. Of course, once it takes the crown, the Leaf can't expect to easily hold on for long. A new Volt is coming in the second half of 2015, likely beating a new Leaf to market. The question is, then, how well the Chevy sells with all of its new bells and whistles. Do you think the Volt will be the comeback kid once the 2016 model becomes available?
