You won't find a cleaner Chevelle that is a true original. Nearly everything on this car is from factory 1972 and in flawless original 32,000 miles condition. The few changes to the car are considered bolt on conversions and I have all necessary parts to convert this car back to 100% original condition

I have added a Flowmaster dual exhaust from the factory manifolds back, BF Goodrich Radial T/A's with less than 3000 miles on them. In 2009 I added brand new all steel chromed period correct Chevrolet Rally wheels with full metal center caps. Wheels alone were $2400 new for the set due to the “Chevrolet Motor Division” logo etched on the steel center caps which is OEM 1972 Chevrolet spec. The original owner replaced the AM radio with an AM/FM tape deck and added two rear speakers. I do have the original working AM radio, factory rear speaker and a new rear deck shelf if you wanted the interior back to 100% original. This car came new with steel wheels and hub caps and I have the original hub caps to go with the car as well.

This is a 350 Malibu package with an unmolested and never painted 350 V8 2 barrel carb and even the air cleaner decal is original. Runs like brand new with only 32,000 original miles and doesn’t burn or leak any oil at all even during heavy acceleration. I did remove and re-paint the valve covers in 2009. I also replaced the radiator in 2008 and found another factory radiator for this car still in the original box from 1972. Everything in the engine compartment is as clean as the day the car was made and has the original hood insulation.

The TH 350 transmission shifts flawlessly. I had a classic car mechanic in my area give the car a complete bumper to bumper diagnostic and everything was in perfect order. This car has no oil pan, Trans, rear main seal leaks or differential leaks.

Undercarriage was seal coated from the dealer and is not pealing. There is no rusting on the frame, suspension or gas tank and straps.

The interior is a standard bench seat automatic. No rips, no tears, carpet looks brand new and not frayed anywhere. Not a crack or bubble anywhere on the dash board and none of the plastic molding on the dash display is chipped, damaged or faded in any way. Floor mats are factory original to match the interior and look brand new. I can supply additional interior pictures upon request.

The pictures don't give the condition of the body and chrome justice. Paint and chrome are both 100% original with no dents, scratches, discoloration, and cracking or rust anywhere on or under the paint. The chrome all around the car has no pitting, pealing or rust. These cars were painted by hand in 1972 and there is a tiny factory paint overrun on the front fender which is only noticeable if you are told where to look. The original owner wanted a Heavy Chevy but couldn't afford the up charge so decided to have the signature stripe added before taking delivery. Stripe decal shows very little cracking and is very intact.

From new this car has been garage kept during winter months and has been very well taken care of since production 42 years ago. The oil has been changed every year in the fall and has been properly conditioned for climate controlled storage conditions year round. I also have a felt car cover included in the sale of this vehicle.

I will not reveal my reserve price since this is an auction but have a conservative "Buy it Now" price. I also have this car listed locally and it may sell without notice.

UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."

Evatran, Bosch will sell wireless home charger for as low as $1,998*

Mon, Jan 6 2014

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today, the big news for plug in vehicles is that they can now start to ditch the plug. As expected, the system costs around $3,000 and is available for both the Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt. For the first 250 customers, though, Evatran is offering $1,000 off the standard price, a 30 percent discount. Deliveries start next month and Evatran says it expects the discounted units to all be snatched up in the first half of the year. The wireless charger charges as quickly as conventional corded systems. Called the Plugless Wireless EV charger, the 240-volt station will be installed by Bosch and needs a specific adapter to be used with the Volt or the Leaf (the Leaf version costs $100 more). So, any two-EV families out there will need to pony up double if there's a Chevy and a Nissan in the garage. Of course, since the Plugless system only works with older Leafs (2010-2012 model years - but with any Volt), any late adopters will not be able to take advantage of the new technology, for now. Evatran says the wireless charger "charges the Volt and Leaf as quickly as conventional corded systems and all vehicle features, such as charge-timers and phone applications, can be used seamlessly with the Plugless system." After the first 250 units, standard prices for the wireless chargers take effect again: $2,998 (Volt) and $3,098 (Leaf). Evatran says it will announce wireless chargers for additional vehicles and model years later this year. Evatran and Bosch offer Promotional Pricing as low as $1,998 to first 250 PLUGLESS™ Wireless EV Charging Customers LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Evatran Group, Inc. ("Evatran"), in partnership with Bosch Automotive Service Solutions, announced today at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show that it is offering reduced promotional pricing to the first 250 customers who opt to Go PLUGLESS with their electric vehicle ("EV") experience. The PLUGLESS system offers a convenient, wireless charging alternative to the repetitive process of unplugging and plugging-in electric vehicles. The reduced pricing includes all charging hardware and is as much as a 30% discount off the system's standard MSRP. The discount is available only to the first 250 customers. Initial shipments of the PLUGLESS system, the first wireless EV charging product in the world available to individual EV drivers, will begin in February 2014.

How GM engineers are using diaper 'snow' to keep you warm

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Testing how snow affects General Motors' vehicles isn't really a problem right now for the company's engineers, but in the dog days of summer the process isn't exactly easy. The only real option is for them to book time at the automaker's climatic wind tunnel. However, a flash of brilliance from an engineer allows snow to be simulated regardless of the temperature outside, and the discovery is all because of his daughter's wet diaper. The realization came to GM Thermal Systems engineer Nicholas Jahn while he was swimming with his daughter and noticed how her diaper ballooned in size in the water. He found out the substance that makes this possible is called sodium polyacrylate. When the material gets wet it grows and forms fluffy flakes that are a close imitation of snow. Best of all, the stuff can be prepared easily any time of the year, and it's reusable. The engineering team uses the material to test the effectiveness of the heating systems of GM's vehicles. They spread the sodium polyacrylate over the inlets at the base of the windshield to obstruct the airflow and then crank the heater. After some time, they can see how much is being sucked into the system and design more efficient systems in the future. See how the process works in the video above and read about the diaper discovery in GM's press release below. Diapers Change Chevy Cruze Winter Warm-up Time GM validation engineer uses diaper material "snow" to reduce frigid drives 2015-01-06 DETROIT – An item commonly found on an infant's changing table is helping General Motors' engineers simulate snow year round, ensuring heating systems in cars like the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze can quickly and efficiently warm its interior. Packed snow can prevent air from entering the inlet panel at the bottom of the windshield, obstructing the flow of air into the heating system and reducing the amount of air it can push out. This can lead to less efficient warming of the car's interior and windshield defrosting. "The last thing anyone wants to do when it's freezing cold out is scrape their windshield," said Nicholas Jahn, GM Vehicle Thermal Systems engineer. "The testing we perform on the Chevrolet Cruze with the diaper material allows us to maximize the car's heating capabilities." Ironically, Jahn stumbled upon his diaper-based testing method in the middle of summer. During a swim with his daughter, he noticed her diaper multiplied in size when it came into contact with water.
