This is a 1970 Malibu that originally had a small block engine from the factory. I have 2 factory build sheets that go with the car. I planned to make a fun driver out of it so I could having something to enjoy while doing my frame off restorations but I ended up getting a 1970 Firebird driver and I don't have a need to keep them both. This is a project that was started by the previous owner in 2003 when he bought it out of Tennessee and did the motor build. He did the break in on the motor but he never finished the build and got it on the road.

If I keep the car I am going to replace the painless wiring with American Autowire, Replace the quarters with full quarters (has skins on it now) and do a 1 piece trunk pan.The car has a partial trunk pan in it now but they didn't completely remove the old one so for a show car I would do the trunk(it's solid and rust free just not factory looking).

It has a factory flat hood with a fiberglass cowl hood on it in the pictures, It comes with a brand new Dyncacorn steel cowl hood as well. If you have any questions about the car or need more pictures send me a message and I will be more than happy to give you the information you request. Car has clear Ohio title in my name.

PC Automotive(Oberlin, OH) built 454 with forged crank and KB pistons redone from the heads down to the Milidon high capacity pan. Comp Hi-Engergy Cam lifters and springs, New starter, alternator, billet brackets and pulleys, billet air cleaner and valve covers, HEI, Taylor performance wires, March pulleys. New Edelbrock 750 with electric choke Pretty much everything on the motor is brand new aside from the gm block and heads. Edelbrock rebuildable fuel pump. Engine shop build sheet/Full build specs available

New TCI TH400 transmission with brand new converter and flywheel. Stainless trans cooler lines. Hurst ratchet shifter.

I pulled the radiator and sent it to a shop to get cleaned and pressure checked. It's perfect. I also flushed the cooling system due to the car sitting, I don't take chances. I also installed a brand new gas tank, flushed the lines and installed a new Edelbrock Carb and new fuel filter. With a brand new engine I don't want to risk putting bad gas through it.

Professionally Rebuilt 12 bolt posi with new eaton posi, new 3.55:1 gears and new superior forged axles. Rear drums have been serviced with new spring kit and wheel cylinders Front Disk brake kit with power booster/master. Looks like a high quality kit (maybe SS brakes or Powermaster brakes) Frame is rock solid with all energy suspension poly bushings. paint is faded and isn't show quality but it's not all rusty either. New Hotchkiss rear trailing links and brace. Over sized sway bars front and rear. New tie rods, ball joints, idler arm. Power steering.

Painless wiring harness is installed but needs cleaned up and wires shortened.

New Flowmaster mandrel bent exhaust with H pipe

Fenders, inner fenders, radiator support, doors, rockers, roof, window channels all look excellent Stainless Trim needs polished and some of the pieces have dents.

Interior needs dash pad top and dash wiring cleaned up. Has a very nice original rear seat, new Scat Procar seats up front. New door panels and interior quarter panels. headliner is new but needs stretched and re-glued. Carpet is new. All the fluids have been replaced with new fluids - Brake, antifreeze, power steering

The car has been sitting for about a month so the battery needs charged and it needs gas but the car does start, run and drive but will need to be trailered because the brakes are soft, it needs a front end alignment due to all the steering components being new and the engine will need some minor tuning(idles great!) since it is a new motor with less than a mile of driving around the industrial parkway. It also is leaking oil from the back of the engine, so that will need to be fixed. It is a a great winter project that you can either put a little bit of time into this winter and have a fun reliable car to cruise next spring or go all out and do a trunk panel, quarters and full paint job. The car is a solid car and I took pictures from every angle I can think of. If you have any questions or need additional pictures I am more than willing to do what I can.

Hoons off-road in a lowrider Monte Carlo in latest Roadkill video

Wed, May 6 2015

Specialization keeps the automotive world interesting because it creates all sorts of fun niches. For example, if you like hot rods, you can dive deep into the world of rat rods or just focus on cars with a more traditional look. In some cases the myriad styles don't mix very well, of course, and the folks at Roadkill are proving that on video by attempting to take a lowrider Chevrolet Monte Carlo from Los Angeles to Las Vegas on dirt. As you might expect, forcing a lowrider off-road doesn't go well, but the stunt makes for a great chronicle of dumb, automotive fun. Other than some repairs to get the Monte Carlo roadworthy, the only modification here is a set of knobby tires to achieve at least a modicum of traction on the loose rocks. Although, no matter what they do, at the even lowest speeds the hosts inside are still bounced around like they're in an inflatable castle at a kid's birthday party. Still, the guys are clearly amused by it all.

Personal testimonies show real-world effect of plugging in with Chevy Volt

Mon, Jan 13 2014

At this point, there are tens of thousands of individual stories about what it's like to live with a Chevrolet Volt. But it also remains informative to take a look at one of these in depth. For example, one Atlanta-area Volt owner says he's cut his cents-per-mile ownership costs by almost 40 percent compared to his previous car primarily because of his ability to drive almost all the time on electric power. Jeffrey Cohen told Clean Technica that he put about 14,000 miles on his Volt extended-range plug-in hybrid for the year that ended October 2013, and that more than 92 percent of those were on electrons. He estimates his "lifetime" miles per gallon rating at a whopping 384 mpg, a figure pushed upward by the fact that he installed a Level 2 charger at home while his employer added an external 110-volt charger at work. Cohen is spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents in his Infiniti M35. As a result, he's spending 45 cents a mile for his car, compared to 73 cents a mile with his prior vehicle, an Infiniti M35. About two-thirds of those Volt costs are for the $349-a-month lease payments, while 15 percent is insurance, 11 percent is for the charger and seven percent for the gas and electricity that actually powers the car. Helping lower that last figure is an overnight electricity rate that's about 10 percent of Cohen's daytime rate. Chevy parent General Motors hopes such testimonies will re-trigger sales for the Volt in 2014. Last year, GM sold 23,094 Volts, down 1.6 percent from 2012. We expect our readers have similar stories they'd like to share in the Comments. More than 5,500 people tried to get the 2016 Chevy COPO Camaro

Tue, Feb 2 2016

It's stating the obvious, but the 2016 Chevy COPO Camaro is popular with enthusiasts. So much so, it's attracted more than 5,500 hand raisers, General Motors said Tuesday at an event to show off the company's new Performance and Racing Center in Pontiac, MI. Unfortunately for drag racing fans, Chevy will only sell 69 of them, as it has for the last four years. The COPO Camaro can be configured for the NHRA Stock and Super Stock classes. It comes with racing-tuned chassis pieces and a solid rear axle. Power choices include 5.7-, 6.2- and 7.0-liter V8 engines. About half of COPO Camaro owners race their cars, and the rest keep them as collectibles. Jim Campbell, GM vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, wouldn't say if the COPO is a profitable venture, but noted the fire-breathing dragster raises the image of Chevy and Camaro. "It makes sense for our business from a number of perspectives," he said. The first COPO Camaro, a Courtney Force-styled racecar that was revealed in November at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, hammered for $300,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction last month. The proceeds went to the United Way. Campbell said low COPO production keeps interest high. Enthusiasts can also build their own COPOs by buying a rolling chassis and a crate motor, though those are not viewed by collectors in the same manner as GM factory-built creations. The COPO Camaro's V8 is one of several competition engines designed, built, and validated at the GM Performance and Racing Center. The Corvette C7R's 5.5-liter V8 and the Cadillac ATSV.R's 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 are two more. Chevy calibrates and conducts dynamometer testing on its 2.2-liter V6 for IndyCar and performs design work on its NASCAR V8 at the facility, which existed previously at another location in Michigan.
