1961 Chevy Impala. A unmolested, well preserved time capsule.  A 2 family owned, southern Tennessee car with documentation including The original laminated TN title, and protection plan book. Original V 8 283 2 barrel, automatic power glide transmission, manual steering, & brakes. Working AM radio, Factory tinted glass, Rare front mounted bumper bullets, 4 rear chrome bumper guards, door handle finger nail scratch guards. & chrome headlight eye brows.  Bought new in Knoxville Tn & owned by the first family until 1981 where it had accumulated 87,000 miles, Upon receiving  the car the second owner treated her to a new repaint & some mechanical maintenance. {All documented.} From 1981 to 2005 she spent most of her life on short cruises, & the show field { see pictures for the first, second & best of show trophies.} She was last registered in 2005 & has been sitting In a climate controlled garage since then. The odometer now reads 89,987  so between 1981 to 2013 she only accumulated less then 3000 miles. It still has the original T-3 headlights, spiral shocks, spare tire, original style muffler & exhaust. Front tires` are date coded from 1965. The 2nd owner never fully rolled up the windows or fully closed the doors or trunk to preserve the rubber weather stripping while it was parked. Now that is meticulous. It has been recently treated to new front brake lines & shoes & ignition upgrades..All old parts were retained. She runs & drives like a dream with all lights, turn signals, horns, cigarette lighter, radio, gas gauge, temp gauge, dummy lights, heater, & fan controls functioning properly. Clock, & Wiper motor are currently not working. There is some fading on top of rear seat side bolsters from sitting in the sun {see pictures} not too bad for 52 year old original material. Slight windshield scratches from passenger wiper, not deep they may polish out. I encourage anyone to come inspect this beauty for themselves.I am about 35 minutes from Knoxville Tn. Bring a spot rot magnet with you & I doubt you will find little if any body filler. Underneath is solid as the top. 2nd owner kept a log of anything that was done to the car from 1981 along with photos of the car when he was showing it. I reserve the right to end auction early because of car being advertised locally. Mileage might be slightly higher at end of auction. More photos available upon request, or call me to discuss in detail 865-717-6280  Thanks Rich.

Weekly Recap: Tesla loses money, still dominates the news

Sat, Aug 8 2015

Some people get an inordinate amount of attention. In politics, it's Donald Trump. In football, it's Jim Harbaugh. And in the auto world, it's Elon Musk and his always-fascinating electric car company, Tesla Motors. General Motors is spending $877 million to upgrade a factory. So what! US auto sales are up. Who cares? Tesla has a metal snake that will recharge your car! So was the week in Tesla – er, the industry. Snarkiness aside, Tesla did dominate the news cycle, led by the announcement the company lost $184 million in the second quarter. Tesla also said it expects to deliver between 50,000 and 55,000 vehicles this year, and is preparing for a full launch of the Model X crossover in September. Musk also made news during the earnings call by simply not answering a question about ride sharing, leading to speculation Tesla could be considering its own operation. While the financials were the arguably the most important company news, reports of a Model S cyber hacking were more compelling fodder for Tesla followers. Researchers were able to attack the sedan and bring it to a stop, though they required access to the car first. Tesla says it already has deployed a remedy for the situation. On a lighter note, Tesla published a video of its metal charger prototype that autonomously uncoils like a snake to power up the company's vehicles, provoking plenty of humorous comments and comparisons. Watch it and decide for yourself. While some of this might seem trivial, much of Tesla's recent attention has been warranted. It's the first startup US automaker in decades to launch from nothing and actually gain traction in the market. Sure, Musk is a lightning rod and Tesla always seems to be in the spotlight. But amid all of the publicity, it easy to lose sight of the new reality: Tesla is a force. OTHER NEWS & NOTES 2016 Chevy Volt lights up 106 MPGe The Chevy Volt's vitals are looking healthier for 2016. The second-generation plug-in hybrid racks up a gaudy 106 miles per gallon equivalent, which is an increase of eight MPGe from the 2015 model. The new Volt can travel 53 miles on electricity, a significant jump from the 2015 Volt's 38-mile range. The new car also has a 420-mile total range when factoring in the capability of the gasoline engine, which is 40 miles greater than the current car offers.

Mopar Hellephant is sold out, but here are 4 other awesome crate V8s to try

Mon, May 6 2019

Despite a relatively enormous $30,000 price tag, Mopar's 1,000-horsepower supercharged Hellephant crate engine sold out in just 48 hours. Some enthusiasts may have missed out on the crazy engine due to lack of funds, or they just assumed there would still be some Hellephants down the line. But worry not, swap-happy gearheads. There are plenty of V8s in the world to pick from, and we highlighted four favorites. They're not as powerful, but they're all cheaper, and still have a lot to offer. Mopar 6.2L Hellcrate Odds are a lot of prospective Hellephant buyers were Mopar fans to begin with, so we'll start the list with the next-most-potent offering: the Hellcrate. This is the same supercharged 6.2-liter V8 found under the hood of the Dodge Charger and Challenger Hellcats and the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk. It makes 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque like those cars, too. It's also about $10,000 cheaper than the Hellephant engine at $20,020, and that leftover money can be used to finish the project or for aftermarket upgrades to get it closer to the Hellephant's output. GM LS9 6.2L The Hellcrate isn't the only factory supercharged crate engine on the market. From General Motors comes the supercharged 6.2-liter LS9 V8. This is the engine that was used in the C6 Corvette ZR1. At 638 horsepower and 604 pound-feet of torque, it doesn't make as much power or torque as the Hellcrate. But it does boast a dry sump oil system. So instead of pumping oil out of a pan at the bottom, the engine uses an oil tank mounted remotely that pumps oil into the engine. This means the engine is shorter overall, and can be mounted lower for a better center of gravity. It also means that there's almost no risk of running the engine dry in hard cornering, as could happen with a normal oil sump where the oil can slosh to the side without the oil pump. Basically, it offers some major benefits if you want supercharged V8 power for a road course car. It's also a tad cheaper than the Hellcrate at $18,149. But get one while you can, because GM is only selling what's left from when it was building the C6 ZR1. Ford Aluminator 5.2XS Our pick from the Blue Oval lacks a supercharger, but it's still pretty sweet.
