Up for auction is a 2005 black Chevrolet Impala with 177167 miles on it. This vehicle was towed into our lot from a traffic stop and was never picked back up. This car will start, run and drive. It has an exhaust leak that isn't too loud but can be heard. The power steering has a whine to it and it needs to be topped off with fluid. The power mirrors do not work. The power windows do work. The left rear tire has a very slow leak and one of the studs is broken off with the lug nut and will need to be replaced. Due to these tire issues and the speedometer issue, this car will most likely need to be towed or hauled from our lot. This is all that we know about this car mechanically. There is an aftermarket stereo in it and it appears that the factory one is in the trunk. The dash has a crack in the clear plexiglass covering for the instruments. The speedometer needle does not work properly on this vehicle. There are some dents and scratches on the vehicle in various places that I have tried to capture in the pictures. Watch the National Corvette Museum sinkhole being filled in by R/C cars
Sun, Jan 11 2015Okay, so not exactly cars, but Bobcats - but still quite cool. You might remember that the National Corvette Museum had that little divot that needed to be filled in. Turns out the construction firm of Scott, Murphy & Daniel doing the work is using two remote-controlled Bobcats to fill the sinkhole with "manufactured sand," which in this case is crushed limestone. It appears that the Bobcat company has offered remote operation since at least 2007 via a wireless transmitter that works up to 1,500 feet away. So yes, that means two SMD employees stand on the edge of the pit and flick joystick levers for hours at a time, one in charge of a Bobcat with a roller-compactor attachment, the other in charge of a Bobcat with a bucket. Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future
Wed, 19 Nov 2014The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
Chevy, Kia and Jeep win 2020 North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year

The car of the year is the 2020 Chevy Corvette Stingray. Utility of the year is the 2020 Kia Telluride. Truck of the year is the 2020 Jeep Gladiator. None of these choices was particularly surprising. All of these cars were major releases that delivered on style, performance and functionality.
