this is my 1983 chevrolet impala. this is a 2 owner car. when i purchased the impala from the original owner in 2004, it had 42,000 miles on the clock. now it has 78,820 miles. the impala is bone stock minus the custom true dual exhaust and aftermarket stereo. its got the original 305ci v8 with electronic controlled carb, 700r4 transmission, 10 bolt rear, air conditioning, police hub caps plus trim rings, and the very rare medeco keyed ignition switch with the steel steering column. the medeco key is a high security key that is bigger then the average ignition key and requires it to be made at a medeco lock smith. since the time i've owned it, i've put a new starter, radiator, alternator, water pump, heater core, thremosate, valve cover gaskets, rear springs, front and rear shocks, front rotors and calipers, custom bent true dual exhaust with cherry bomb turbo mufflers and 2 high flow cats, and a aftermarket cd player with 4 speakers. this impala is not a show winner, its been my daily driver since 2004 and its been a great ride but its time to move on. the body isn't perfect but its presentable. the paint is faded in large spots, some dents and scratches, and a small hit in the drivers side fender caused by a small accident. unfortuntanely the driver side hub cap and trim ring was damaged in the accident. there is no rot or rust anywhere that i have seen. i do have the hard to find rear corner quarter panel extensions. the goodyear tires are fairly new with 75% tread on them. the rims are factory color matched to the body. the interior is in good shape minus the headed liner and dash pad. i've tried to describe the impala as best as i can. if u have any questions feel free to contact me by message. this vehicle is for sale locally and if its sold locally this auction will be ended and removed from listing. i'm sorry but i will not ship the vehicle. if you would like to see the vehicle in person please message me and we'll set something up.

Corvette + fireworks = so much glory

Fri, Jul 3 2015

You might think that those of us making our living by reviewing cars, think critically about the cars we're driving most of the time. It could be that I'm an underachiever, but that's not the case with me. In fact, unless I'm set to the review task, I typically think about the cars in front of and around me more frequently. That's because a) you never know what you're going to see out there, and b) all of them could be out to bump/scratch/tailgate/crash me out. You can never be too careful. Such was the case when I was driving a 2015 Chevy Corvette earlier this week. I'd already had my fun finding the edges of grip on a river road in the car, the night before; on the morning in question I was just trying to get to work. But while scanning the suburban streets for potential dangers to the 'Vette's neat-o Daytona Sunrise orange paint, I spied a XXL-sized fireworks tent in an empty parking lot. Oh right, I remembered, 4th of July weekend. That obvious bit of observation lead to a chain of thought along these lines: "We should do something with this car for the 4th" ... "Too bad I have to give it back tomorrow." ... "Wonder if I could do a quick video?" ... "Wonder if I can set off a bunch of fireworks in slow-mo for a video?" The result, well, I won't call it genius, but I will say that I remember why every kid loves fireworks. And I will call it glorious. Happy 4th, y'all.

Corvette Stingray designer lists five goals of new exterior shape

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

Redesigning an icon is a difficult task, especially when you've got a blank sheet of paper in front of you and the all-new C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is intended to be your final objective.
General Motors has released a new short video featuring Kirk Bennion of the Corvette's exterior design team, talking about the challenges of sculpting Chevrolet's new flagship sports car and the five goals the team had to keep in mind as it worked. In the end, Bennion's team had the pleasure of seeing their hard work take center stage as the Corvette captured the world's eyes at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year.

Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?

Thu, Jun 23 2016

The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose!
