1966 Impala Convertible-I recently aquired this car from the original owner. It is a 1 owner car-It has a 283 and a powerglide trans. I will tell you what I know about the car. He told me it has had 1 repsray in the original red. The interior is all original. The motor is all original as is the trans and rear end. He told me that on the re-spray he had the original antenna hole filled on the front fender and is now cracked and coming through. He also had the original seams filled on the back header panel. And the trunk lid has some little specks of surface rust just starting to bubble a little-I took pics but they dont even show in the pics. It also has a small scratch that I took a pic of. But its not deep and has no rust-I took a pic again but it doesnt show. Other than that there is no bodywork on the body. He did however put a little patch of bondo in the trunk right below the boot. He should have left it alone. I noticed it and asked. He should have paid to have it done. It doesnt look too bad but should have left it alone. The rest of the trunk is excellent with no rust anywhere. I took a picture of the area. The frame and floors on this car are in excellent condition!!!! As are the trunk pan extensions, rockers doors quarters and fenders-they are excellent-The car could eventually use paint but looks great the way it is. He told me the odometer was correct at 20,000 miles-I find it hard to believe but thats what he told me. You be the judge. The bumpers are excellent and shine great and are original, the stainless is very good too. The interior is all original and very nice as are the floor boards and frame rails on the car-I couldnt believe how nice they are. The car is starting to fade a little in some places, it still shines very well. He moved the antenna to the back of the car as he had a CB in it during the 70's. The seats, door panels and carpet and dash are really very nice. He did put speakers in the doors back in the 70's. I also took a pic. It has an aftermarket radio and 8-track player mounted in the glovebox. The seats have no rips or tears or wear marks-They are very nice. and original. as is the carpet in the car-The convertible top is power and works fine. It has a nice glass back window. The only flaw in the top is that one of the seams is coming apart and needs to be stitched. I took a pic of this too-It could be fixed right at home. The rest of the top is very good as are the bows, and all the hardware to the top. It works perfect. The boot to the car is the original also and fits nicely. I just purchased brand new American Racing Torque Thrust "D" rims. Chrome---With brand new BFG tires. I put as big as I could without them hitting or rubbing. The car runs and drives perfect. No rattles or clunks and gooes down the road as straight as the day it left the showroom. I forgot the horn button clear plastic is cracked. It has full duel exhaust and is quiet. Not sure what mufflers it has but they are pretty quiet. The car does not smoke or use any oil. All gauges and lights work as they should. All the idiot lights on the dash also work. I have a NYS Transferable registration with the car. NYS does not have titles before 1973-I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere-It really runs great and gets compliments everywhere it goes. Its a great car for cruise ins and local shows or just a night out. I have been driving it on a regular basis for the past 3 weeks. Its hard to find a nice straight car like this. The body is so straight and the frame and floors are so nice on this car-Please e-mail me with any questions you may have. As usual it is being offered at No reserve. I try and sell all of my cars no reserve! I have 100% positive feedback for a reason. And I sell quite a few cars on here. Check my feedback-I try to be as honest as I can-Please ask any questions and if you want to see certain pictures feel free to ask and I will gladly take them. Or feel free to come and see the car. It is located in my garage in Elmira New York 14905--

GM says safety is a reason it's dropping Apple CarPlay, Android Auto
Tue, Dec 12 2023Update: GM sent us a statement as a follow-up to its original comments seen in this post: "We wanted to reach out to clarify that comments about GM's position on phone projection were misrepresented in previous articles and to reinforce our valued partnerships with Apple and Google and each company’s commitment to driver safety. GM's embedded infotainment strategy is driven by the benefits of having a system that allows for greater integration with the larger GM ecosystem and vehicles." The original story can be read in its entirety below.  General Motors announced its intention to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality from its upcoming EVs earlier this year, and internet comments sections haven't been kind since. As the first of many EVs to follow – the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – hits the market, GM is expanding on its initial explanations for dropping the tech. Motor Trend spoke with Tim Babbit, GMÂ’s head of product for infotainment, to learn more. Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.” Babbit suggests that a world without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be a safer one, as folks wonÂ’t be looking to control their infotainment systems via their phones. However, Babbit also tells MT that this theory hasnÂ’t been tested in either the lab or the real world yet. Instead of using a navigation or music-playing app powered through your phone, upcoming GM EVs will use a Google-based infotainment system called “Ultifi” that runs a ton of integrated Google apps. Google Maps will be the native navigation app in the system; youÂ’ll be able to log in to Spotify or other apps to load your music up, and so on. The idea here is that youÂ’ll have all the same apps that were on your phone available but integrated within the infotainment system instead, and you'll be able to use voice controls to control every last bit of it with no need to reach for a phone. That sounds amenable in theory, but how consumers react to the removal of a feature that they know and love now is a risky gamble.
Sunday Drive: Taking a gaze into the automotive crystal ball
Sun, Oct 22 2017Mankind has long been fascinated by the future. So it makes sense that this past week's top stories were all about cars, trucks, and SUVs that won't be hitting the market until the 2019 model year. And right at the top of the list is the Ram 1500. We've come to know Ram as the truck maker that styles its pickups with cues cribbed from big rigs, but that look has slowly evolved over time into something uniquely its own. The next Ram 1500 continues this trend, with a newly refined look that we can't wait to see in person. Up next is the 2019 Chevy Silverado. Pickup trucks have been, continue to be, and will remain the best-selling vehicles in America. And General Motors is a leader in the field, with two distinct offerings with which to entice buyers, one from the bread-and-butter Chevrolet brand and one wearing the slightly more upscale GMC badge. The Chevy looks to get LED lighting elements for 2019, which ought to keep the truck from looking dated when compared to the Ford F-150 and the previously mentioned Ram 1500. From there we move past pickup trucks and into SUVs and sedans. The 2019 Jeep Cherokee looks to get toned down a bit with its next refresh, and the '19 BMW 3 Series continues its slow evolutionary journey at the top of its aspirational sales pedestal. Finally, spy shots give way to official production reveals for the 2019 Audi A7 and Polestar 1. This pair of European luxury cars won't compete with one another – one is a rakish hatchback and the other a sports coupe – any further than for the eyeballs of our readers, but both proved popular enough to merit inclusion in our weekly roundup. As always, tune in to Autoblog next week for a front-row seat to all the happenings worth following in the automotive industry. 2019 Ram 1500 spotted without the classic crosshairs 2019 Chevy Silverado spied with new LED accents 2019 Jeep Cherokee reveals a much more normal face 2019 BMW 3 Series spy shots reveal production lights, new interior details 2019 Audi A7 revealed: More torque, refined styling Polestar 1 First Look | The 600 horsepower hybrid Scandinavian Green Audi BMW Chevrolet Jeep RAM Volvo Truck Hatchback SUV Future Vehicles Hybrid Luxury Performance Sedan sunday drive polestar 1
GM: Without LG Chem, we couldn't build Bolt EV [UPDATE]
Wed, Oct 21 2015It's absolutely no surprise that General Motors has a thing for LG Corp. The Detroit automaker and the Korean parts supplier have been working in public on electric vehicles ever since it was announced that LG Chem would supply the battery cells for the Chevy Volt in 2009. LG Chem was even named GM's 2010 Supplier of the Year. But, yesterday, the connection between the two companies was strengthened with the announcement that LG Electronics would be supplying a number of components for the upcoming Chevy Bolt electric vehicle. The Bolt is expected to be able to go about 200 miles and will carry a price tag of about $30,000 (after incentives) when it arrives in 2017 or so. LG's new components can be found almost everywhere in the Bolt. They include the battery pack and the battery heater, a new motor, the power inverter module, the electric climate control system compressor, the on-board charger, high-power distribution module, the accessory power module, and power line communication module. Oh, and then there are LG Electronics' advanced display technologies like the new instrument cluster and a new infotainment cluster. LG Electronics also supplies parts for the 4G LTE OnStar system, just like it does in other new Chevys. If that all sounds like a lot of components to you, you're right. Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of global product development, purchasing and supply chain, said that without the expanded relationship with LG, GM would not be able to bring the Bolt to market (insert old ironic quote link here). "I think GM was lacking that [electrification knowledge] in a very complete way for many years, I'll just be frank about that," Reuss said. "I also think that on an electrified basis, this requires a long-term commitment and trust that sometimes is violated on a more short-term, regular, traditional basis. I think we have found something completely different with LG and I think that has become a widely talked about and duplicated want from our purchasing and corporate standpoint with our supply base." The "this" that Reuss is talking about here is the OEM-supplier relationship, something has evolved with the LG-GM situation. Previously, the automaker-supplier relationship used to be more like a dictator telling underlings what he needed, Reuss said, and that was a bad idea. "Today's competitive landscape requires a different approach, especially in electrified vehicles," he said.
