Parents have had this vehicle for over ten years, and what was once a project car is now too much to do for them now.  Unfortunately, I live too far to help with the restoration and for them it's time to let it go.

Odometer says 10469.  But do not know if that is 110469 or 210469.  I'll have to review the clear title again to confirm.

Have a 1964 Impala Hardtop Coupe, 2-door.  It has a crate motor 327, so it is not the original I have been told.  Had the car looked over briefly and was told that the dipstick on original Chevy engines in that era were on the driver's side, so I can only assume it is a crate motor.  We were unable to find block ID numbers on it, but did find the firing order cast in the intake.  I don't know much about all the identifying features of cars from that era (or any era), so doing my best to supply as much info and pics as I can.

Transmission is a 2-speed automatic (I say 2 because only D-L on steering column indicator).  Is it a Powerglide, don't know.  Didn't get under the car to check it out, and again, living so far away, not able to do much with checking that out.  My understanding is that they were pretty populat during that time, so it's a toss up whether it has one or not.  Unfortunately, can't really check on that right now and the folks sure wouldn't be able to determine that.

Interior appears to have been re-upolstered when the car was purchased.  Both the front and back seats were covered in a vinyl covering.  I removed the front seat covers, and left the back on, so that you could see the product.  If you want to put that back on, it's in the ample trunk.  Seats look good, and underneath appears to be the original springs.  Don't have a lot of history on the car, but think Dad bought it for the nostalgic value, he had a '64 convertible in a similar color in his heyday.  And looks like the replacement carpet was just laid on top of the original, as there is another layer of carpet underneath.

Ignition and locks were replaced with a newer set, as well as the lock to the trunk and glovebox (which does not latch).  It will need some electrical work as I could not get all the interior lights to come on when opening the doors (or to stay on).  No A/C, and the heater core was bypassed.  I plugged it back in and ran the car and got some leaking, so bypassing it again.  I did not check under the carpet to see if there was any rust damage.

Exterior color is not original.  Supposed to be Ermine White, but the repainted color caught Dad's eyes.  It will need another coat, some holidays visible, but the car appears pretty straight given its age.  I unfortunately did not get any pics from under the car, but I did see some bubbling on the driver's side front and rear panels, pics below, indicating some small rust areas.  Again, the body is pretty straight overall.  The molding was removed prior to buying the vehicle and given to us loosely.  It's in bad shape and missing the clips/retaining nuts.  The old trim will be included with the auction purchase.  There is also some trim work missing around the headlights, both the light itself and on the front quarter panels around the front grill.  The passenger side mirror and gasket (?) are also missing.

Appears the vehicle was in an accident and the front passenger panel was replaced, hence the missing front trim work and tweaked bumper.  I also noticed that the passenger fender well was damaged some, but still installed.

Mechanically, it's almost 50 years old.  But it runs.  Front brake hardware was replaced this year with over-the-counter parts from local auto parts store.  Some parts ordered online, as they are harder to come by.  Car runs a little rough, but running on tank gas (fuel gauge off, reads full with 2 gallons).  Drive it around the shop to keep the juices flowing, and it will need some work.  Non-original carburetor part of crate motor's lifeline.  But it does run, shift, brake.  Car does not have current tags or inspection sticker.  Windshield motor works, but not pumping water/fluid.  The wipers move in full range, but cannot get motor to prime.  Wheels are original type with decorative ring.  Tires are so-so, but not sure on how old they are, but guess they are the same ones purchased over ten years ago.

All the glass is in good shape.  There is some old tint on the rear windows that will have to be removed for full restoration.  Of course, I did not get enough pictures to show every detail of the car.  Sure someone will want some additional photos, but unfortunately, won't be able to get them until later this summer when I go back to visit.  If there are several interested in purchasing, can make arrangements to have a day to show the car in the Arlington, Texas area.  It will take a little scheduling on my part as I do not work a regular job, so time off is sometimes difficult.

The kicker:  pay the Buy-It-Now price and we'll order all the side molding trim work for this vehicle (some 14 pieces) of reproduction quality and the retaining hardware.  We'll also order a pair of front fender emblems (V-flagged for 327), the "Impala" letters (2 sets for rear panels), and a pair of Impala logos for the rear panels, all for the 1964 Impalas.  The Buy-It-Now price will also include a reproduction heater core.  I really don't want to get under that and replace it.  I promise that these parts will be from reputable companies and new reproduction replacement parts.

But feel free to ask any questions, I'll do my best to answer.  Of course, there is no warranty or guarantees with this vehicle and new owners will be responsible for taxes, registration, and any fees outside of eBay.  Thanks for looking.

2019 Chicago Auto Show photo gallery: All of the grilles

Fri, Feb 8 2019

Do you like trucks? How about grilles? Like really big, shiny, chromey, in-your-face, could-be-made-by-Broil-King grilles? Well, the Chicago Auto Show is the place to be. Traditionally known as the truck show of the annual auto show circuit (at least those covered by national media), Chicago has what seems like a small national park's worth of acreage devoted to both consumer and commercial trucks. From humble extended cab Ford Rangers to a mammoth F-650 with cherry picker sprouting from its aft quarters, there's bound to be a truck for everything. And they all have grilles. So above is our gallery devoted to them, because hell, why not? Should you want to know about the trucks attached to those grilles, check out our coverage below. Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...

GM CEO to meet with U.S. lawmakers over job cuts

Fri, Nov 30 2018

WASHINGTON — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra plans to visit Capitol Hill next week to discuss the company's plans to halt production at five plants in North America next year and cut up to 15,000 jobs, two congressional aides said on Friday. GM has come under harsh criticism from lawmakers from both major political parties, and from President Donald Trump, since Monday when it announced the biggest restructuring for the U.S. No. 1 carmaker since its bankruptcy a decade ago. Barra is expected to meet with lawmakers from Michigan and Ohio, where GM plans to shutter three plants, as well as senior leaders in Congress. GM did not immediately comment. Barra has been calling lawmakers this week to explain the decision to end production. Trump has threatened to revoke subsidies for GM. The Detroit automaker plans to halt production next year at three assembly plants: the Lordstown small-car factory near Youngstown, Ohio; the Detroit-Hamtramck complex in Detroit; and the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly complex near Toronto. It will also stop building several models now assembled at those plants, including the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, the Cadillac CT6 and the Buick LaCrosse. Additionally, GM plans to shutter the Warren transmission plant outside Detroit and a plant that makes electric motors and drivetrains outside Baltimore, Maryland. The Cruze compact car will be discontinued in the U.S. market in 2019, although GM may continue building it in Mexico for other markets, Barra said. Reporting by David Shepardson. Related Video:
