For sale is my mechanically perfect 1964 Chevy Impala. It runs like a dream and devours the road.
It is currently registered through Aug of 2015 so if you live in SoCal, come take it for a drive and see the potential of this diamond in the rough.
Here is what has been done:
Rebuilt Original Small Block 283 Engine (4.6 liter bored .30 over).
Rebuilt Automatic Power Glide Transmission.
Front Disc Brake conversion.
New Exhaust.
New Shocks and Struts and Springs.
New Alternator and Voltage Regulator.
New Tires and Cragar Delux 69 Rims (7x15 front 8x15 rear)
Rebuilt PolyPlus Front End from CPP (upper and lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, control arm bushings, bump stops, inner tie rod ends, tie rod adjusting sleeves and idler arm).
New Steering Box.
New Adjustable Trac Arm.
Every Bushing has been converted to Polypropylene.
New Edelbrock Performer 600 4 Barrel Carburetor, Intake Manifold and Air Cleaner.
New Water Pump.
New Gas Tank and Sender Unit.
All rust has been cut out and repaired (floor pans & trunk).
This car has just been serviced. It does not shake, shutter, leak or smoke. It starts up right away and is ready to roll.
This car has all it's original glass and interior hardware (window & door handles, door sills, visor hardware)

What needs to be done?
This car is a rare factory A/C car. All the plumbing for it is still under the dash and has not been touched (thankfully, because it is expensive). It needs the compressor, engine brackets, driers and vacuums.
The Speedo & Odometer are not working (just recently stopped). Can be easily found on eBay.
The entire interior has been gutted and needs to be redone. It has the original front and rear bench seats and thats it. Make it your own!
The body has a few dings and one dent in the rear quarter panel. Take it to your auto body guy and they should take care of it easy.
And Paint. That's it.
All the heavy lifting has been taken care of.  I focused on the Mechanical side so you don't have to.  The Car starts, stops, shifts and drives effortlessly. The exhaust note is beautiful. You just do the cosmetic side now.  Watch the videos and check the pictures.

eBay Find of the Day: 1990 Chevy 1500 454 SS with just 7 miles

Sun, Jan 4 2015

When trawling the classifieds either on a buying mission or merely a time-wasting mission, we spend a lot of time poring over photographs comparing the seller's idea of "Like New!" with our idea of it. It's hard to argue with seven original miles on the odometer, though, which is what this 1990 Chevrolet 1500 454 SS has. It's being sold by Country Chevrolet on eBay, the same dealer who sold the truck to its one and only owner 25 years ago. The purchaser bought two of them and left this one in a garage under a car cover, said garage being less than seven miles away from the showroom floor. Better yet, you can buy with confidence because the seller "has collected all records," which we expect would be the slimmest manilla folder in the history of receipt-keeping. For those unfamiliar, the 454 SS was a half-ton, regular cab, 2WD pickup powered by a 454 cubic inch (7.4-liter) V8 with 230 horsepower and 385 pound-feet of torque shifting through a three-speed transmission. This was at the same time the Chevrolet Corvette used a 5.7-liter V8 producing 250 hp and 350 lb-ft. The pickup rode on exclusive wheels and only came in black with red cloth inside. The only extra-cost option on this example is an $18 locking fuel filler cap, which, according to the 454ss forum, means it should have cost about $18,460 out the door, the equivalent of about $34,000 today. At the time of writing there are zero bids, but proceedings open at $45,000 and Country Chevrolet wants $49,000 if you have to have your time capsule right now.

1970 Chevy Camaro gets 650-hp crate engine for SEMA

Tue, Nov 3 2015

The latest edition of the Chevrolet Performance catalog arrives at the 2015 SEMA Show, and to demonstrate the insane creations that are possible with it, the company has a seriously powerful machine in tow. This custom 1970 Camaro RS boasts the new LT4 crate engine that makes a staggering 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. The offering gives hot rod builders the ability to put the Corvette Z06's 6.2-liter supercharged V8 into any project where they can make the mill fit. This Hyper Blue Metallic Camaro should offer neck-snapping performance with its massively powerful engine and a T-56 Super Magnum six-speed manual gearbox. Chevy's show car is about more than just packing copious horsepower into a classic shape, though. The builders also overhaul the suspension with coilovers at the front and rear, in addition to a four-link setup at the back. Behind the 19-inch aluminum wheels, the coupe has Z06-based brakes at both ends. For better visibility, it wears LED headlights and taillights. Plus, the interior gets custom gauges and a six-point roll cage. With pieces like titanium intake valves and forged aluminum pistons, the LT4 crate engine comes ready to offer serious performance, but Chevy also gives builders a few options to fit their application. The mill is available with either wet- or dry-sump lubrication. Depending on the version, there are kits to fit front-end accessories, air conditioning, and power steering, as well. The new Chevy Performance catalog features other high-performance components like Z06-based parts for the standard Stingray and an array of performance upgrades for the 2016 Camaro, including suspension lowering kits, brake upgrades, and more. We look forward to seeing this vast collection of goodies at SEMA this year. The concept vehicle was introduced today at the SEMA Show, in Las Vegas. As the supercharged 6.2L heart of the Corvette Z06, the LT4 is rated at 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful production-vehicle engine ever from General Motors. The new crate engine – offered in dry-sump and wet-sump versions – allows builders to use the high-tech performance engine in their hot rod projects.

Leno drives Ringbrothers' latest, 1966 Chevy Chevelle Recoil

Tue, Mar 3 2015

Jay Leno has been checking out quite a few older rides in his garage as of late, but has mixed things up a little this week. Ringbrothers took home an award at the 2014 SEMA Show for the 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle it named Recoil, and now the car has proven it can do more than just look good on Jay Leno's Garage. While the latest guest might look vintage, underneath those classic lines is a thoroughly modern muscle car sporting a claimed 980 horsepower. The heart of this beast is a supercharged LS7 V8 from Wegner Motorsports and a six-speed Tremec manual gearbox. Even with so much power, it can still run on 91-octane pump gas, and when Jay gets on the throttle the result is a wall of sound from the wailing supercharger. Despite the muscle, the Recoil doesn't really scream about its performance aesthetically. The color is a surprisingly plain beige, but the carbon fiber touches and side exhaust certainly indicate that there's something special here. The owner's sole request for the car was to include metal seats, and Ringbrothers provided them with a few bits of leather offering a touch of comfort. After checking the Recoil out from stem to stern, Leno finally gets behind the wheel and treats our ears to pull after pull from that big, supercharged V8.
