This is the ULTIMATE  cruiser for the traveling family that wants to ride in complete comfort and style!  Up for sale is this 2011 Chevrolet Express 1500 converted by MCX outfitted like no other that we could find.  The van is covered by the factory 5yr/100,000 mile powertrain and the bumper to bumper 3yr/36,000 mile warranties (started Dec 2012) and sticker price was $71,268!  .  It runs, drives and rides as new like any vehicle with only 19,000 miles should.   Most of these conversion vans have 1 TV with regular DVD since there are no blu ray vehicle players yet.  This one comes with a 26" HDTV with blu ray that is HDMI hard wired for perfect picture. It also has a TV antenna for regular TV.   Surround sound is Pioneer amped and  the van has a sound insulated inverter.  We also hooked up PS3 for the kids!  It also comes with multiple a/c charging ports as well as USB.  Then on top, it has 4 additional headrest DVD players with monitors for individual use including wireless headphones and stowable wood trays for IPADs or other use.  We spent over $2500 for these custom additions including a switch to have the backup camera on at all times for rear monitoring.   Most of these conversion vans have the equipment in a console between the front seats. This hinders front to rear movement.  Here you have freedom to move around as the equipment is under the middle row captains chairs.  The bed is an electric fold flat unit for naps or storage.  There is a sunroof ALSO in the ceiling for ventilation and light.  Each window has a pull down shade for sun glare and GAMING!  In the back, the van has a custom wood clothing rack to keep your business jackets pressed.  There is a fire extinguisher there also for any emergencies.  In the raised roof, there are 5 lighted storage compartments for miscellaneous use.  The swing out doors have cup holders and storage compartments too.

The van is in great shape. Clean carfax.  It is covered by a dealer maintenance plan for oil changes and rotation.  Paint is custom fade Sheer Silver Metallic with exclusive ground effects kit.  Grill is a custom mesh with side vents and running boards.  The van needs nothing and is ready to go.

GM threatens predatory dealers with order cancellations, non-transferrable warranties

Fri, Jul 29 2022

General Motors will launch a second salvo against misbehaving dealerships next week with a new set of policies aimed at curbing predatory markup strategies. With the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06, GMC Hummer EV SUV and Cadillac Escalade-V about to head into production, GM is putting its foot down yet again. Dealers that attempt to circumvent GM's markup restrictions by dealing directly with brokers or other resellers could find themselves in a particularly nasty spot, as the company is threatening to withhold future allocations and end the transferability of warranties when dealers facilitate the reselling of vehicles within 12 months.  While this may help curb some dealership chicanery, it's possible the real loser in such a deal could end up being the customer who unwittingly ends up with an un-warrantied vehicle. We suspect GM has accounted for that, but we'll have to wait until next week to find out exactly how these new policies will be enforced.

Watch Danica Patrick go undercover as a Lyft driver

Fri, Feb 19 2016

Danica Patrick went undercover as a worker for Lyft in Charlotte, NC, and gave a few lucky people the rare opportunity to take a ride with a famous racecar driver. Patrick just needed some aviator sunglasses and a big hat to hide her identity, but she dropped plenty of hints about her real profession along the way. Patrick plays up the role of an overly aggressive Lyft driver by taking corners at high speed and challenging other vehicles to stoplight drag races. She also slides in some NASCAR-related jokes about getting too close to other cars and trying to cover 500 miles in a few hours every Sunday. Her clients seem enthused by her assertive style, too. This clip is entertaining, but we think Patrick missed an opportunity for a detour to the speedway to do a quick lap. The stunt would have made for an even better reveal of her true identity, but these folks probably had places they needed to go.

GM says safety is a reason it's dropping Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

Tue, Dec 12 2023

Update: GM sent us a statement as a follow-up to its original comments seen in this post: "We wanted to reach out to clarify that comments about GM's position on phone projection were misrepresented in previous articles and to reinforce our valued partnerships with Apple and Google and each company’s commitment to driver safety. GM's embedded infotainment strategy is driven by the benefits of having a system that allows for greater integration with the larger GM ecosystem and vehicles." The original story can be read in its entirety below.   General Motors announced its intention to remove Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality from its upcoming EVs earlier this year, and internet comments sections haven't been kind since. As the first of many EVs to follow – the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV – hits the market, GM is expanding on its initial explanations for dropping the tech. Motor Trend spoke with Tim Babbit, GMÂ’s head of product for infotainment, to learn more. Attributed to Babbit, from the story: “They have stability issues that manifest themselves as bad connections, poor rendering, slow responses, and dropped connections. And when CarPlay and Android Auto have issues, drivers pick up their phones again, taking their eyes off the road and totally defeating the purpose of these phone-mirroring programs. Solving those issues can sometimes be beyond the control of the automaker.” Babbit suggests that a world without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto will be a safer one, as folks wonÂ’t be looking to control their infotainment systems via their phones. However, Babbit also tells MT that this theory hasnÂ’t been tested in either the lab or the real world yet. Instead of using a navigation or music-playing app powered through your phone, upcoming GM EVs will use a Google-based infotainment system called “Ultifi” that runs a ton of integrated Google apps. Google Maps will be the native navigation app in the system; youÂ’ll be able to log in to Spotify or other apps to load your music up, and so on. The idea here is that youÂ’ll have all the same apps that were on your phone available but integrated within the infotainment system instead, and you'll be able to use voice controls to control every last bit of it with no need to reach for a phone. That sounds amenable in theory, but how consumers react to the removal of a feature that they know and love now is a risky gamble.
