THIS IS A 1987 CHEVY EL CAMINO LAST YEAR PRODUCED. IT WAS ACQUIRED FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHO PURCHASED IT IN 1986 AND IS FOR SALE. I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY IF THE VEHICLE IS SOLD LOCALLY. IT IS VERY SOUND RUNNING CONDITION BUT IS SLIGHTLY BURNING SOME OIL ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SITS FOR FEW WEEKS. AS YOU CAN SEE BY THE PICS IT IS IN NEED OF PAINT AND SOME RESTORATION. THE MAJOR PROBLEMS ARE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED WHEN THE OWNER BACKED OUT OF HIS DRIVEWAY AND CAUGHT A CURB, FORTUNATELY THE DOOR WAS WEEK FROM ROTTING AND NO MAJOR DAMAGE WAS DONE AT THE POINT OF THE DOOR HINGES SO I BELIEVE A NEW DOOR COULD BE BOLTED RIGHT UP. THE OLD DOOR WINDOW MECHANISM IS STILL WORKING JUST AS EVERYTHING ELSE ON THIS VEHICLE EXCEPT FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING. THE MAIN AREAS ON THE BODY TO BE CONCERNED ARE THE THREE SPOTS AROUND THE REAR WINDOW THAT ARE ROTTING, THE BUMPER GUARDS ON FRONT AND BACK BUMPERS ARE NOT SALVAGEABLE AND ARE ROTTING BUT THERE IS NO PROBLEMS WITH THE BUMPERS THEMSELVES, THE FRONT HOOD ON THE FORWARD EDGED IS ALSO GOT SOME ROTTING BUT I DO HAVE A SPARE HOOD THAT IS IN MUCH BETTER SHAPE THAT WOULDN'T NEED AS MUCH WORK, ALSO THE CROSS PIECE UNDER THE HOOD THAT THE RADIATOR IS AGAINST HAS ITS SHARE OF ROTTING BUT IS INTACT AND IS POSSIBLY SALVAGEABLE. THERE IS NO OTHER AREAS OF ROTTING ON THE BODY. I TRIED TO TAKE PICTURES TO BEST DESCRIBE EVERYTHING. THE GLASS AND INTERIOR ARE DECENT NO HOLES OR SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. THERE IS A SINGLE CRACK ON THE TOP OF THE DASH AND THE DRIVER FLOOR BOARD IS BOWED DOWN LIKE THERE IS FLOOR BOARD PROBLEM BUT I WILL UPDATE THIS LISTING AS I HAVEN'T PULLED THE CARPET BACK TO SURVEY WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE CHECKED OUT THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND THERE IS NO SIGNS OF SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS. I'M NOT SURE BUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT, IT DIDN'T BURN OIL BUT THERE IS SOME SLIGHT BLUE SMOKE COMING OUT OF EXHAUST WHEN I START IT BUT DOES DISAPPEAR AFTER IT RUNS A BIT, ABOUT EVERY OTHER WEEK TO KEEP THE BATTERY CHARGED. I HAVE A STACK OF RECEIPTS FROM THIS CAR. IT IS BEING SOLD AS IS WITH NO WARRANTY AND NO RETURN SO BE SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE BIDDING, TITLE IS IN HAND AND FREE AND CLEAR. I WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS AND POST THEM FOR ALL TO SEE. I WILL ONLY ACCEPT A DEPOSIT OF $500.00 THRU PAY PAL. THE BALANCE DUE WILL COME IN THE FORM OF A BANK CHECK, CASH OR MONEY ORDER UPON PICKUP OR OTHER ARRANGEMENT MADE BETWEEN THE BUYER AND ME. IF BALANCE IS PAID BY PAY PAL IT WILL NEGATE AND CANCEL THE TRANSACTION. THE BUYER IS TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FEES TO PICKUP AND SHIP THIS VEHICLE TO ITS DESTINATION. I WILL ASSIST IN A WAY THAT IS NOT GOING TO COST ME ANY FUNDS. I DO HAVE A FRIEND WITH A LONG DISTANCE VEHICLE SHIPPING COMPANY IF THE BUYER IS INTERESTED. THANKS AND GOOD LUCK. YOU CAN CALL ME AT 321-525-2533 LEAVE A MESSAGE AND I WILL RETURN ALL CALLS. JEFF

Man spent $75 on a truck that lasted 38 years
Mon, Jan 5 2015Absurd as it is, some buyers today are worried about getting their car to last throughout the term of their seven-year car loan. Minnesota resident Bob Sportel has the opposite issue: his Chevrolet truck seemingly won't die. Sportel needed a cheap ride to get to work when he took a job at a farmer's co-op 38 years ago, so he bought a rusty 1957 Chevy pickup for $75 from a farmer; at the time, the 20-year-old truck was almost as old as Bob was. After nearly four decades of daily driving and an estimated 300,000 miles, Sportel is still driving the truck today. Bolts secure a fender, Bondo secures the lights, what looks like a whole roll of duct tape keeps him sitting on the bench seat instead of in it. For a 58-year-old pickup that's never seen a garage or a new coat of paint – but did get its oil changed four times a year – that's not bad; Sportel thinks his repair bill hasn't got above $1,000 for the entire time he's owned the truck. He still has no plans to get rid of it, saying, "It just becomes a part of you." You can watch his story in the video above. News Source: KARE11.com Chevrolet Truck Classics Videos
Buick takes top spot in 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study
Tue, Jun 28 2022People, economies, and supply chains weren't the only things continuing to get sick over the past year. The 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study (IQS) is out, showing the average rate of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership increased overall. The average figure for the 32 ranked manufacturers in 2020 was about 166 problems per 100 vehicles. In the 2021 IQS, that dropped to an average of 162. This year, the average jumps to 180 problems. J.D. Power says that figure is a record high over the 36-year history of the study. Buick leapt to the top of the rankings this year with the fewest issues, at 139 problems per 100 vehicles in the first 100 days of ownership. After Dodge became the first American automaker to lead the IQS in 2020, followed by Ram in 2021, this year marks a three-peat for U.S. carmakers. Dodge took second this year at 143 PP100, Chevrolet third with 147 PP100, Genesis the first luxury maker on the chart in fourth with 156 PP100. Between February and May, this year's study gathered responses to 223 questions from more than 84,000 new 2022-model-year car owners and lessees. The questions are designed to zero in on real-world problems new owners encounter with nine categories of vehicle features: Infotainment; features, controls and displays; exterior; driving assistance; interior; powertrain; seats; driving experience; and climate. As has been the case in the past few year, infotainment has proved to be the most problematic bugbear making scores worse. Considering features individually, six of 10 of the worst problem areas dealt with infotainment, causing infotainment's score of 45 PP100 to be 19.5 PP100 worse than the second-placed feature. Consumers ranked getting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay to connect reliably as the most troublesome. GM didn't just score with Buick, which was one of only nine of the 33 ranked brands to show improvement this year. The conglomerate earned first place with the fewest PP100 among all the automaker groups, and scored the most model-level awards with nine, ahead of BMW with eight and Hyundai Group with three. This year's study again showed a gap between luxury and mass-market makers, thought to be down to the amount of tech in luxury vehicles that consumers aren't properly informed about or that doesn't act as expected — that latter issue exacerbated by the chip shortage.
