This is a very unique El Camino with much time and money invested. The paint job is in excellent condition, displaying an array of colorful flame work with a base color of red. The paint is by nationally known , Wet Willy at a cost of over $7,000. This type of finish utilizes two-tone inter-twined flames with pinstriping. The striping alone has a lot of metal flake and is all custom air brushed. The work is all color-sanded and polished to a mirror finish.

The interior is very well done, restored with low-profile power-operated bucket seating, custom center console & ultra-leather upholstery throughout.

Even the dash is restored in matching ultra-leather and in excellent condition. The original gauges are functional.

 photo DSC07168_zps3c9d0484.jpg

The 2 little marks on the front above the grill are not scratches, they are little decals that look like paint drips.

The engine is an upgraded 350 cubic inch Tuned-Port Fuel-Injected V8 paired with the 700R4 automatic transmisison. The engine compartment is clean and detailed, with air conditioning, power steering and power brakes. The firewall, inner fenders, and core support steel is in excellent condition. The exhaust system features Edelbrock HTC full-length headers to a true dual exhaust system with chromed pipe tips.

The flames are very well done. Wet Willy should be proud! The body itself is straight and in excellent condition. This is a dry climate El Camino and it is reflected in its condition. The paint displays a mirror shine, the flames buried in clear, you cannot feel them. There are two distinct chips along the front edge of the hood you can see when you look closely. The body is extremely straight and paint shows very well. Be sure to play the video and see the effects in the paint finish with light reaction.

You won't find many El Camino's that are this nice.

The cowl induction hood is a perfect fit, wrapped in flames.

Again, the Tuned-port 5.7 liter V8 runs strong. This car is an absolute pleasure to cruise in.

The undercarriage displays a host of suspension work performed. All 4 springs have been replaced. The shocks have been replaced. Front and rear sway bars have been installed among other work. This El Camino drives excellent and has great power.

GM recalls 55,000 trucks, SUVs for separating axles, fuel pump failures

Mon, Feb 13 2023

General Motors issued four separate recalls covering eight of its truck and SUV models for issues related to fuel pump and half-shaft failure. In total, the four campaigns include more than 55,000 vehicles spread out over three brands and six model years, but they've sorted themselves neatly into two categories. Let's dive in.  Axle separation Four models are being recalled for potential axle separation: The 2023 Cadillac XT5, 2023 GMC Acadia, 2023 Chevy Blazer and 2023 Chevy Traverse. The number of units affected is incredibly small (10 units each times two recalls, for a total potential population of just 20 cars). In each case, a small number left the factory with half-shaft assemblies that may have been missing the retention rings that keep them in place, possibly allowing the axles to separate or eject from the transmission. In the case of the XT5 and Acadia, it's the right-side axle assembly; Chevy dealers, however, will have to check the left side.  Fuel pump failure Again, we have multiple vehicles being recalled for similar issues, but in this case they're a bit more distinct. The first of these recalls covers the 2021-2022 Chevy Equinox and 2022 GMC Terrain. GM says a supplier-initiated change may have led to fuel pumps shipping with inadequate clearances to allow for the prescribed flow of fuel, meaning the pump could starve the engine. Customers experiencing the issue may see a check engine light and experience engine hesitation. In some cases, the cars may not start at all. Chevy and GMC will replace the units in question with correctly specified pumps.  The second recall covers a fairly specific cross-section of GM's HD truck lines. 2017-2019 Silverado and Sierra HD trucks sold with the diesel engine and a dual-tank configuration may have shipped with a rear fuel pump that is susceptible to fouling by debris, preventing fuel from properly transferring to the front tank, or, in extreme cases, resulting in a collapse of the rear tank. This issue can lead to inaccurate/erratic fuel tank readings, engine hesitation, a check-engine light or failure to start.  In both cases, GM will inspect and replace faulty units free of charge for customers. Expect notifications to be delivered by March.  Related video: Recalls Cadillac Chevrolet GMC Ownership Safety Truck SUV

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat vs. Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 in latest Head 2 Head

Fri, Jan 30 2015

"Olympian" is one of the terms we use to signify the greatest height, the seat of the gods. Yet Mt. Olympus is the second-highest peak in the Balkans ranges, overshadowed by the crest at Musala in Bulgaria's Rila mountains. Both great heights, but one is a little higher. That's how we get the Olympian Chevy Camaro ZL1 pitched at the Musalic Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in Motor Trend's latest episode of Head 2 Head. The side-by-side spec sheet is filled with farcical numbers. For the ZL1, that's a 6.2-liter V8 with 580 horsepower, 556 pound-feet of torque, a 4,051-pound curb weight, 0-to-60 miles per hour in 3.9 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds and a base price of just $57,800. Opposing that, the Hellcat wrings out its 6.2-liter V8 for 707 hp, 650 lb-ft of torque, weighs 4,449 pounds, does the quarter in 11.7 seconds and has a base price of just $60,990. Except in the case of the Hellcat, when Motor Trend put it on the dyno the machine spit out a reading of 672 hp and 606 lb-ft at the wheels. If there's a 10-percent driveline loss through those beefed-up internals and heavy-duty eight-speed transmission, that means the Hellcat is actually rated at about 750 horsepower and 700 lb-ft. But once they get put on a closed-off strip of coast road in Northern California, there are only a few strands of hair between their respective performances. That's not the case for they sensations provide; host Jonny Lieberman calls one of them, "One of the most incredible cars ever made," and says, "It changes everything." Watch the video above to see who got the verdict and how. Related Video:

2022 Genesis GV70, raging at VW ID.4 tech and thoughts on a new Lexus LFA | Autoblog Podcast #696

Fri, Sep 17 2021

In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor James Riswick. This week, they talk about driving the Genesis GV70, VW ID.4 and VW Taos. They talk about ways Chevy could "fix" the Camaro. James ranked all the James Bond films based solely on their starring cars. Next, they reach in the mailbag and discuss the question, "Do you think Lexus will make a successor to the LFA and, if so, what do you guys think it would be like?" After ruminating on that query, they dip into the mailbag a second time to recommend a sporty crossover to a listener in this week's Spend My Money segment.
