I am regrettably selling my 1980 rust free El camino. If you are also tired of rusty northeast el caminos, this is a great car to start with.I bought it less than 1 year ago because it was rust free and a factory stick, for my soon to be driving son.Instead we bought him a newer safer car with airbags. The car was originally a South Western car until it was brought to Iowa in 2005.Its been here in NJ for less than 1 year.It is all original.231 chevy V6,3 speed floor stick,A/C power disc brakes and power steering. Also has factory V08 HD cooling. Both doors open and close like new(brand new drivers door upper and lower hinges) I dont think the passenger door was used much.It just opens and closes that nicely.I was shocked at just how this little car rips with the V6 and stick. Its surprisingly very quick. It has all 5 rallye wheels, and sport mirrors. It has low original miles.Because of this there's no noise whatsoever from its trans or rear as is usual with high mile cars.Quiet original factory exhaust.Clutch feels great,Brakes feel great.I just had the original dualjet carburetor professionally rebuilt for $200.When I bought this car,it was off the road for about 10 years in storage. It ran but not well.I removed the intake and found 2 broken pushrods cylinder #2,due to the timing being so far overly advanced.I pulled the right side head and sent it out to the machinest to make sure all was good.It was perfect. Now it runs great. Its had 1 repaint in its original color a long time ago.It looks show worthy in the pictures.ITS NOT.If you want a clean rust free driver that still looks good. This is it.If you want nicer than that, this is NOT it.Dash is cracked from South west sun.Needs headliner and visors.Fuel gauge does not work,I never looked into it.A/C works but needs a new dryer/accumulator to blow cold.I converted it to 134 but did not change the dryer. They are 18 bucks..The windshield is cracked,I will give you free a perfect original 1980 el camino windshield that is factory tinted and also has the radio antenna in it as this does.I will not ship the windshield,so it must be picked up.The bright spot on the hood is the camera flash. It has chips a few small door type dings here and there etc, again, its not perfect but a good looking driver that gets more attention than most older cars Ive owned.New owner will receive its clear, signed, Iowa title,I have more invested in this car than my buy it now,so low offers wont buy it.Please no games or nonsense.Small listed deposit at auction close, otherwise it will be sold to the next buyer.

Regular-cab, short-bed Chevy Silverado Trail Boss pickup looks great
Fri, Jul 30 2021For all the wild popularity of full-size pickups, there's one configuration that U.S. buyers are no longer offered: the regular-cab, short-bed truck. Interestingly, however, GM still does make this configuration, and both the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra are offered with it — in the Mexican market. That body style, however, is available solely in ultra-basic work-truck form. But a custom wheel shop, JC Wheels in the Mexican city of Culiacan, has converted one of these Silverados to Trail Boss trim, and we're digging the result. The sporty shorty Silverado Trail Boss comes to our attention via GM Authority, after the shop posted it on their Instagram feed. The shop added a 3-inch lift, assist steps, Chevy alloy wheels, a Trail Boss front fascia including red tow hooks, and Trail Boss badging. They also added dark window tint, which seems like a good idea in sunny Mexico. In the U.S., the Silverado Trail Boss isn't offered at all in regular-cab form; it only can be had as a double cab or a crew cab, the latter with a choice of a short bed or standard bed. But size is often a hindrance for trucks that actually get driven on trails, where this regular-cab, short-bed variant's smaller wheelbase would be an advantage. Beyond that, the Trail Boss upgrades keep this configuration from looking like a basic-spec machine. That's even more true of the same outfit's previous efforts: the conversion of the GMC Sierra regular-cab, short-bed pickup into a Denali. With so many buyers choosing pickups as personal-use vehicles, it's not hard to think that this configuration could find an audience here. But the key would be to do as this Mexican firm has done and offer it in the desirable off-road and luxury trims, rather than as a basic work truck. Would you buy one? Sound off in the comments below. The next step would be to use this configuration as the basis of a full-size, two-door SUV, in the mold of the classic Chevy K5 Blazer and GMC Jimmy.

CES 2022 was huge for EVs | Autoblog Podcast #711
Fri, Jan 7 2022In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder. CES took place this week, and there were some nice electric surprises from automakers, especially General Motors. John has been driving the Ram 1500 Power Wagon, as well as what seems to be its polar opposite, the electric Mini Cooper SE. Greg talks about the differences between the Acura TLX A-Spec long-termer (which is back in the shop) and the Type S loaner that's filling in for it. John's also got some interesting thoughts on leather interiors. Finally, the editors reach into the mailbag and help a repeat customer decide on a suitable replacement for a 2008 Lexus GX 470 in this week's Spend My Money segment.
