 PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION TO UNDERSTAND THIS VEHICLE COMPLETELY, BEFORE BIDDING OR OFFERING. Without wheels/tires in picture, and hood scoop, $300 less. You'll get roller wheels and the hood piece. Now, here's the details. Over 10 years ago, I bought a stripped 59 Elcamino with no interior, but complete otherwise. Sold the old fashioned motor/trans (not sure if they were original), bought a 1982 Chevy pickup, slid the frame under the original X frame, welded them together, made braces where they didn't meet, and drove it and had it inspected every year after. Including the initial required inspection it had to get for the reconstructed title. DON'T BE SCARED OF THE RECONSTRUCTED TITLE. It is only reconstructed because of the alterations I made, not because of any accidents. The title itself no longer states 1959 Chevrolet, it is just stamped "reconstructed" multiple times. It is traced to the El by a new VIN plate issued by Penndot that was riveted to the upper firewall. But it is still currently insured as a custom 59 Elcamino by Grundy Worldwide for about $250 a year full coverage including towing. The body is all original, from what I can tell, and is starting to get a few rust bubbles here and there. Noticable only close up, so far. The "teeth" grille is in now, but I also have the original grille in great condition that goes with it. The motor is a 1973 Chevy Nova 350 4 barrel Edelbrock carb with HEI distributor. The transmission is a mid 70's Turbo 350 with non lockup converter. The rear is from a 1968 Nova and is a positraction unit. The entire functional frame is a 1982 Chevy 2WD pickup truck frame from a truck that was inspected and driven regularly by it's previous owner, until he didn't want it anymore. That's also where the motor and trans came from. The interior was amateur redone. Flame headliner, door panels, and floor mats. Currently has a bench seat in it from a late 80's pickup, where the seat frame was altered to sit lower and match the interior. Not ripped, torn, or busted, but doesn't match, so I threw a blanket on it for now. Really just needs a seat cover to match. Dash has original speedometer, fuel, and temp gauges that appear to work good. Aftermarket battery and oil pressure gauges mounted in the other two dash pods. Tachometer is mounted in the Bud can on the side of the hood scoop. Hood scoop is cutout and functional, but if you want it off, I still have the hood piece I cut out, and it can be welded back in and bodyworked to perfection. everything on this car/truck works. In the back, I cut out the wheel humps in the bed, and flattened them out because it sits high enough that they are no longer needed. The floor was custom made by someone before me. I removed the "hump" as it's no longer needed because of the height. The custom made bed cover is one piece fiberglass, and opens like a hood. I welded in hood hinges. Tailgate still opens and closes. That's about all I can tell you. Any questions left, ask. It is currently PA inspected until 09/14. Rims are Cragar S/S 15X10 rear and 15X8 front. Rear tires are new. Fronts are good used. Reverse lights are under rear bumper. ************BONUS*********** I have almost enough extra parts to practically build another 59 Elcamino. New fenders, new doors, new quarters, good used tailgate, used gauges, trim, glass, just about everything but a frame and hood. for an extra $2000 (firm) I will include them all if wanted. General Motors CEO Provides Few Details In Appearance Before Congress

It was only two months ago that Mary Barra, freshly crowned as the new General Motors chief executive officer, visited Washington DC as an esteemed guest of First Lady Michelle Obama for the State of the Union address. On Tuesday, Barra returned to the Capitol under more strained circumstances. For more than two contentious hours, she took questions from members of a House of Representatives subcommittee investigating General Motors years-long delay in initiating a recall of millions of vehicles that contained a defect that has killed at least 13 people. Why did GM accept faulty ignition switches that were below the company's set specfications? Why did GM learn about the problem in 2001 yet take no action until 2014? Will GM compensate victims' families even though the company's bankruptcy may limit its liability? Those were a few of the questions members of the House Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee asked. Few concrete answers were forthcoming. For her part, Barra sidestepped most of the questions, saying she wouldn't have information needed to answer them until an internal review is completed. David Friedman, the administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, testified after Barra. The biggest news that emerged from the hearing was that General Motors has retained attorney Kenneth Feinberg to advise the company on its civil and legal responsibilities. He has made a career of resolving disputes and serving in a 'fixer' role, serving as the chief of the federal government's September 11th Victim Compensation Fund, as an administrator of compensation fund for victims of the BP Deepwater Horizon disaster and a similar fund for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. Barra, who has been GM's CEO since January but been with the company since 1980, expects to meet with Feinberg on Friday, and have a concrete plan within the next 30-60 days. Yet Barra would not say for certain Tuesday that GM would compensate the victims at all. Despite repeated questions from Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.), Barra did not outline the company's intentions. "I assume GM is hiring (Feinberg) to help identify the size of claims and then compensate the victims? Is that right," DeGette asked. "Is GM willing to put together some kind of a compensation fund for these victims that Mr. Feinberg will then administer?" "We've hired him to help assess the situation," Barra replied. "So really, there's no money involved at this point," DeGette asked.

Chevrolet considering midsize crossover to slot between Traverse and Equinox

Crossovers are the new hotness, and automakers are looking to cash in by offering a size and shape for every customer. With Chevrolet's debut of the new 2018 Traverse in Detroit, which grew ever so slightly compared to the first-generation model, there is now a midsize-crossover-sized hole between the three-row Traverse and the compact Equinox. When asked about that obvious space, a Chevrolet spokesperson told us the company is looking into the possibility of expanding its crossover lineup. It should be a relatively simple thing to do, since all it would take is reskinning and rechristening the GMC Acadia with a bow tie, and we all know how much GM loves platform sharing. Although they're now different sizes, the new Acadia and Traverse still use the same platform; the Acadia is now on a short-wheelbase version of the C1XX while the Traverse uses long-wheelbase C1XX parts. A short-wheelbase Chevy built on the C1XX likely would be differentiated visually from both the Acadia and the larger Traverse. It may seem like flooding the lineup with more and more models would cannibalize sales of existing ones, but Chevrolet said it would rather have customers stay within the brand rather than going to another automaker. There have been whispers that some form of the Blazer name (possibly TrailBlazer) may make a return on a midsizer, but if it does don't expect an old-school body-on-frame SUV like the old one. Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors

Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency.
