2013 Chevrolet Cruze 2lt on 2040-cars
Plymouth, Indiana, United States
Please read the ENTIRE description before placing a bid. This car is currently on an Indiana rebuilt title and is fully legal to be driven on the road
This auction is for a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze LT sedan finished in Silver Ice Metallic with the Jet Black interior and is the loaded 2LT version. It’s powered by a turbocharged 1.4 liter dual overhead cam 16-valve Ecotec engine that has received numerous rave reviews by engineers and the automotive press for it’s high power output, excellent economy and inherent smoothness. With a turbocharger, the Cruze LT engine gets better gas mileage than the base LS model that has a 1.8L non-turbo motor, while putting out the same horsepower and even 20 percent more torque. This engine features a cast iron block for maximum durability, chain-driven cams for reduced maintenance (the 1.8L engine in the LS has a timing belt that must be replaced periodically), variable valve timing for maximum power output at all engine speeds, an aluminum cylinder head for reduced weight and greater heat dissipation and an electronically controlled thermostat combined with an integrated oil cooler to keep the engine operating at it’s peak efficiency. The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control (DSC®). This transmission has low first and second gears that provide brisk acceleration, while the high top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent gas mileage. With Driver Shift Control you can move the shifter to the left and then tap it up or down to shift the transmission like a manual for more control on winding roads and provide greater power and acceleration for passing maneuvers. Integrated into the transmission is an all-season Traction Control System (TCS®) which helps to get you through ice and snow covered roads with ease, and the StabiliTrak® system which is an advanced electronic stability program (ESP) that helps the car stay on the road through curves and abrupt maneuvers. Rounding out the Cruze powertrain is a chassis made to smooth out your daily commute while still having fun on twisting roads. Start off with a MacPherson strut independent front suspension, Watts Z-link rear suspension and high performance 17 inch tires. Add rack and pinion Electric Power Steering (EPS) for precise road feel, and a stiffer chassis design than many other small vehicles, and you have a car that is quicker, faster and handles better than many others in it’s class. The styling of the Chevy Cruze features clean highly sculpted lines and distinct angles while adding bold and aggressive elements to form a beautiful modern design. If you are tired of other cars with bland organic or jellybean styling, the Cruze is the automobile for you. A quick walk around the car reveals how the Cruze is one of the most stylish vehicles ever created in the compact class of automobiles. From up front, its sharp sleek lines with black bi-level honeycomb grille, steeply raked windshield, clear lens headlights and jewel effect reflectors with Audi and Mercedes influenced L.E.D. daytime running lights flow into sweeping curves along the sides of the car with body colored mirrors and door handles for a monochromatic look. Then, going back, they meld into large wheel arches filled with wide low profile tires mounted on some of the best looking wheels ever produced by a car maker, bright machine finish and clearcoated five spoke rims that would look great on a Camaro or Corvette. Then at the rear you have a short trunk lid with a spoiler and a roof mounted Euro-style antenna, suggesting this car is ready to take off at any moment. It’s chic Euro-styling that looks handsome from any angle without being flashy. It takes numerous styling cues from pricier German sports sedans as well as creating some that are all it’s own. It’s no coincidence that the Cruze is based on an Opel design from Germany. As stylish as the outside is, the inside is just as nice with a high tech design that is feast for the eyes and senses. Borrowed from the Corvette, it’s twin-cockpit design is both functional and beautiful to look at. Get in and sit down in a leather bucket seat that feels supportive yet comfortable for a 12 hour drive. Adjust the seat to the perfect driving position with the 6-way power adjustment knob and manual recline function. Then grab the thick padded wheel and adjust the tilt steering column to achieve complete driving control. Notice how the steering wheel mounted cruise control and infotainment switches are just a fingertip away. Next, look ahead at the dashboard that flows seamlessly into the door panels noting the sporty mesh cloth trim. The instrument cluster is trimmed with titanium bezels and is backlit with light-emitting diode (LED) technology that provides a cool-blue illumination of the analog gauges and a Driver Information Center (DIC) displays vital functions and warnings. Now glance at the center stack and how simple the radio and climate controls are to operate with functions being displayed on the Infotainment Display Screen (IDS). Look right and left at the titanium accents on the console, dash and shifter, along with chrome surrounds on various knobs and switches and the premium leather upholstery that has a soft supple feel. Finally, take a deep breath through your nose and take in that new car smell that can’t be duplicated by any sprays or pine tree air fresheners. Not only is the styling beautiful to see, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the dimpling on the steering wheel, the leather seat upholstery, the textured graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches throughout the cabin, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive car. This Cruze LT is fully equipped with all the desirable safety, comfort and convenience features and equipment including:
This car was a flood car. The only things that are not working are: the horn and heated seats. These two items are stored under the seat and that is where the water line on speakers show. Water did not get above console or dash. The engine and transmission never had water in them. The airbag light is on in the dash. Included with this car is a brand new, in the box, from GM is a air bag module. Also included with purchase, is a brand new, in the box, from GM body control module. Everything else on vehicle works 98% of the time. Every now in then the dash goes out, but car continues to drive smoothly. This car drives and runs extremely smoothly, like it should. The miles are not actual as seen in photo as when we unplugged the battery it caused the mileage to reset. At the point of reset, the car had approximately 6, 300 miles. There is a small dent in driver's side rear quarter panel by taillight. It is pictured above. This dent is due to me backing into a basketball hoop. Car is registered, insured, and driven at this time. |

The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top. Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures
Tue, Jun 23 2020It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee teases return with a Countach
Fri, May 29 2015Unless you have an intense aversion to Jerry Seinfeld, it's hard not to find something to like about his show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. After all, the series combines funny people telling often hilarious stories while riding in ridiculously cool vehicles. The trailer for the sixth season is now online, and based on this tease, this definitely looks worth watching no matter what part of the videos interest you. Of course, it's the automotive portion that really grabs us, and Seinfeld has quite a fleet to showcase for season six. The trailer shows off a Lamborghini Countach, a '57 Chevrolet Bel Air convertible, a classic Volkswagen Beetle in the green and white German Polizei livery, a Morgan, an Aston Martin DB5, and a Ferrari 308. On the more humorous side of things, the guest list at least includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jim Carrey, Steve Harvey, Stephen Colbert, Bill Maher and upcoming host of The Daily Show Trevor Noah. Season six of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee premieres on Crackle on Wednesday, June 3, at 11:30 PM ET.
