1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible on 2040-cars
Saint Charles, Illinois, United States
1965 Corvette Convertible The car is basically a “barn find” but was in an aircraft hangar instead of a barn. It had one owner for the past 28 years, was stored in a heated hangar, lightly driven since 1985 and not registered since 2006 It runs great now. Last year I went through all through the engine with full tune-up, new carburetor, alternator, regulator, battery, fuel pump. The oil pressure is strong and steady. I cleaned out the fuel tank, installed all new calipers, turned the rotors, installed new pads and repacked the bearings. The tires are new. 1965 was the first year that the Corvette had 4-wheel disc brakes. We buffed out the paint and it shined up nicely. There were some nicks & scrapes in the paint but they were touched up. There are blemishes but it shows well and turns a lot of heads. If you’re never driven a car with sidepipes, you’ll find it makes the experience much more fun. The engine is a 327/300 but the block was replaced. It is 300 HP now but we believe it was at least a 350 HP 327 originally by virtue of the 2-1/2” exhaust manifolds and the higher RPM 6500 RPM redline tach. It has manual steering, manual brakes, factory side pipes and a 4-speed Muncie with original Corvette shifter. The body has never been off the frame but it was undercoated originally and the frame is excellent. The body was modified in the ‘70’s and was never changed back because it has been in storage for so long. The headlight openings were glassed in, the tail lights were changed, a rear spoiler was added and the wheelwells were given mild flares. When you look underneath at the body, all of the fiberglass panels look clean and original, so we believe the car has never been hit. The car is very good driver now. I drove it about 2000 miles last summer and it is very dependable. But not everything works yet. What is not working currently is: horn, parking brake, turn signals, fuel gauge, amp gauge, clock and odometer. The speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure and temperature gauges are working. I have extra parts that are not installed on the car so the car can be restored more easily including headlight assemblies with motors. The master cylinder was converted to a dual chamber but I have an original style single chamber that also goes with the car. The car has 2 tops. The hardtop is red and in good condition but could eventually use new seals. The convertible top is white – not perfect but in good condition. There are no rips or tears. This is not a car for someone who expects everything to be perfect but is a good investment to someone willing to restore it or for someone who simply wants to have fun driving an affordable mid-‘60’s Corvette Convertible. 2 Tops Factory Side Pipes Rally Red Unrestored No-rust frame - body never off - no evidence of damage Mileage 66,339 327/300 4-speed Muncie Wide ratio 3:36 posi VIN # 194675S118504 Style J26 65 467 Trim 426BA Body S6012 Paint 9 OOQQ Engine Block 18L331394 V0221MA 2-1/2" Exhaust collectors Intake Manifold 3872783 GM2 Transmission 3886010 P7K03 Rear End AM9 23 64 |

2016 Chevrolet Camaro starts at $26,695
Fri, Aug 21 2015Parking the new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro in your driveway will cost $26,695, including the $995 destination charge. That's a cut from $27,000 for the same trim on a 2015 Camaro. If you prefer a V8 under the hood, then the base 1SS goes for $37,295, compared to $34,500 for that model currently. The 2016 Camaro is offered as a coupe and convertible in four trim levels: 1LT, 2LT, 1SS, and 2SS. The LT is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque or a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 hp and 284 lb-ft. The SS gets a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 hp and 455 lb-ft. The first examples arrive before the end of the year, but droptops and the turbo engine don't materialize until the first quarter of 2016. Base models come with tech like Chevy's MyLink infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, a rearview camera, automatic climate control, and multiple driving modes. The RS Package adds to the style with 20-inch wheels, HID headlights, LED taillights, a different grille insert, and rear spoiler. Opting for the SS brings a more aggressive exterior look, plus performance upgrades like Brembo brakes, differential and transmission coolers, and a limited slip differential on those with a manual gearbox. Upgrading to the 2SS adds amenities like heated and ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, a Bose stereo, rear cross-traffic alert, and Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert. Options like a Magnetic Ride Control suspension and dual-mode exhaust offer additional sportiness. Reading about the 2016 Camaro is nice, but Chevy now has a visualizer for the pony car. It's not quite a full configurator but lets you check out different colors, wheels, and stripes to imagine your future purchase. Enjoy finding just the right combo. Chevy, GMC and Ram dealers are worried they'll run out of new pickups
Wed, May 6 2020One of the unexpected side effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is a shortage of pickups at Chevrolet, GMC and Ram dealers. Supplies are running out, and the factories that build these trucks remain closed. Stores across the nation began increasing incentives in March, when the first stay-at-home orders were issued, in a bid to continue luring buyers into showrooms. They also launched online sales channels, or expanded their existing digital business. Sales nonetheless plummeted in April 2020, but in-demand vehicles, like the Ram 1500 and the Chevrolet Silverado, are still selling relatively well thanks in part to the aforementioned incentives. Pickups outsold sedans for the first time in April 2020, according to The Detroit News, by 17,000 units. The problem is that General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), and Ford temporarily closed their factories in March. "The pipeline is very dry," said Mike Maroone, the CEO of a large dealership group named Maroone USA, in an interview with Automotive News. He told the publication his Chevrolet stores are sitting on a 30-day supply of the Silverado, which is one of America's best-selling vehicles. "That is a problem for us," he concluded. Coronavirus-related lockdowns and factory closures compound problems already faced by dealerships who represent General Motors-owned brands. They entered 2020 with a thinner inventory than a year earlier due to the 40-day United Auto Workers (UAW) strike that paralyzed the company late in 2019, and the 0%, 84-month offers announced in March have sapped supply. Ram wasn't affected by a strike, but it has relied heavily on generous incentives to move trucks off lots. Ford, on the other hand, limited incentives to 2019 models. Inventory levels differ greatly from region to region. The national average for the Silverado stood at an 82-day supply in March 2020, down from 120 in March 2019. Ram stores had a 114-day supply of the 1500 (compared to 134 a year earlier), while Ford bucked that trend with a 111-day supply versus 84 in 2019. Don't panic if you're in the market for a truck; we're not facing a complete drought. Automotive News added that America's light-duty pickup inventory could fall to 400,000 units by the end of May, and drop further to 260,000 units in June. For context, there were about 700,000 light-duty trucks in stock in May and June of 2019. That's unquestionably a sharp drop, but there will still be over a quarter of a million trucks to choose from.
2016 Chevy Silverado unveiled in full at Texas State Fair
Thu, Sep 24 2015It's State Fair time down in the Lonestar State, which means a lot of things to a lot of Texans: rodeos, cook-offs, country music concerts, big belt buckles, and even bigger hats. But it also means new trucks. Ford used the occasion this year to roll out its new F-Series Super Duty pickups, but the Blue Oval won't have the show all to itself as Chevy is also on hand to reveal in full its latest updates to the Silverado. The Bowtie brand gave us our first glimpse at its updated 1500-series pickup back in July, but has now revealed the revised truck in full – and not just in Z71 spec, either. Buyers will be able to choose between WT, LS, LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels – to say nothing of the various cab, box, and powertrain configurations. The top three get all-LED exterior lighting. And while the Z71 adopts the color-keyed trim we saw previously, other models like the LT, LTZ, and (to a lesser extent) the top-of-the-line High Country still bring the chrome for those who want it. Whichever the model, the new Silverado boasts a more muscular-looking front-end and a more sculpted hood. Inside, the new Silverado gets an optional MyLink system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The revised truck also benefits from added safety technology and convenience features. Engine options include a 4.3-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque, a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 hp and 383 lb-ft, and a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft. The news when it comes to powertrains is that the eight-speed automatic launched last year on the larger V8 is now being offered on the smaller 5.3 as well. 2016 Silverado: The New Face of Strong 2016 Silverado designed to build on Chevrolet's truck momentum 2015-09-24 - Bolder, more muscular look reflects Silverado strength, dependability - Expanded use of 8-speed transmissions; additional safety technologies - Available support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto DALLAS – The new 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 brings muscular designs and new customer-focused technologies to the most dependable, longest-lasting family of full-size pickups on the road. The new Silverados make their public debut today at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. "The new 2016 Silverado will build on the Chevy truck legacy of dependability," said Sandor Piszar, marketing director for Chevrolet trucks.
