SELLING A 1961 CHEVROLET CORVAIR MONZA 900. VIN # 109690124089. CAR WAS ORIGINALLY MADE IN CALIFORNIA AND STAYED THERE UNTIL 1982. IN 1982 THE CAR WAS TRANSPORTED TO OHIO WHERE IT WAS DRIVEN FOR 3 YEARS AND THEN TAKEN APART, FOR RESTORATION. ALWAYS GARAGE KEPT AND REGULARLY MAINTAINED. CAR HAS NOT BEEN ON THE ROAD EVERYDAY SINCE 1984, BUT I DO DRIVE IT AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND TO NEAR BY CLOSE STORES. THE COLOR IS NOT ORIGINAL, BUT IS A REAL HEAD TURNER, EVERYONE LOVES THE SHADE AND THERE'S NEVER A LACK OF LADIES COMMENTING HOW PRETTY IT IS. THE ENGINE IS ORIGINAL, NUMBER ARE CLEAR AND EASY TO FIND, ENGINE # T02I3YN. THE 4 SPEED TRANS I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE TO NOT BE ORIGINAL. THOUGH I NEVER LOOKED FOR THE NUMBERS. THE CAR DOES RUNS AND MOVE UNDER ITS OWN POWER, GOES INTO ALL GEARS, BUT IS COLD BLOODED WITH COOL OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES, NO SMOKING OR KNOCKING/TICKING NOISES. THE CHOKE CABLES ARE FROZEN AND I KEEP THE CAR IN MY HEATED GARAGE, NEVER MOVE IT UNLESS ITS 70 DEGREES OUT ANY HOW. MILEAGE IS UNKNOWN WAS TOLD 55,000 ODOMETER SAYS 15,000 BRAKES FEEL AS THOUGH THEY COULD USE ADJUSTMENT. LIKE I SAID THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN REGULARLY IN 10+ YEARS. THIS CAR HAS TONS OF NEW PARTS, A REMAN GENERATOR, BATTERY, PLUGS, WIRES, THINGS OF THAT NATURE, IS A PERFECT TINKER TOY. THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR IS VERY ORIGINAL, ALL EXCEPT THE FLOOR CARPET, THAT WAS RECENTLY REPLACED WITH A FACTORY FIT PACKAGE. MY PERSONAL FEELINGS ARE THAT HAD I GOT THE SEATS RECOVERED IT WOULD KILL THE ORIGINAL FEEL THE CAR HAS. SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO GOT THAT ROUTE CLARKE'S CORVAIR HAS SEAT COVERS FOR $500, I SIMPLY DIDN'T WANT THEM. IT IS A FACTORY MONZA 900 CAR MEANING IT DOES HAVE THE 4 SPEED TRANS, TINTED GLASS AND AN UPGRADED INTERIOR. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS VERY CLEAN. OVERALL I FEEL THE PICTURES WILL DO THE TALKING FOR ME, IT DOES NEED SOME MINOR WORK BUT IS A GREAT CAR.I KNOW I WILL NEVER HAVE ONE THIS CLEAN AGAIN, THEY ARE GETTING HARD TO FIND AND I WONT GIVE THIS ONE AWAY. I HAVE COMPLETE PICTURES OF THE CAR THROUGHOUT THE RESTORATION PROCESS AND YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE BODY CONDITION BEFORE AND AFTER. FOR SALE LOCALLY, RESERVING THE RIGHT TO END AUCTION EARLY.
"This Corvair is unusual in that it has bucket seats with cloth inserts on the seating surfaces. This option was only available in 1961 Monza 4-door sedans for about the first half of the model year before discontinued by GM. Not only this, but very few remain because the cloth usually wore out and was replaced with vinyl seat covers"---written by a Corvair fanatic--- $500 DEPOSIT DUE AT AUCTION CLOSE, REMAINING BALANCE TO BE PAID IN CASH UPON PICK UP. AFTER AUCTION CLOSE AND DEPOSIT HAS BEEN MADE, BUYER WILL HAVE 2 WEEKS TO PICKUP THE CAR UNLESS OTHERWISE ARRANGED. |

2015 Chevrolet SS Review [w/video]
Mon, Jul 27 2015The Chevrolet SS is one of the best cars no one's buying. It's a Bowtie-badged version of the Australian Holden Commodore with a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 under the hood. It's got a six-speed manual transmission, General Motors' sophisticated Magnetic Ride Control suspension, and rear-wheel drive. It's a fullsize sedan that comes with every possible amenity you could want. And it's less than $50,000. Chevrolet sold 2,479 SS sedans in 2014. That means it was outsold by every other vehicle the automaker offers, even the police fleet-only Caprice. (I'm only talking about cars that were on sale for the full 2014 calendar year, of course.) The aforementioned manual transmission and MRC suspension were added for 2015, but it's not clear if that's helping. The SS is down 7.7 percent through June of this year, compared to 2014's numbers. But hey, at least it's finally outselling the Caprice. What a damn shame. Granted, GM only planned to sell a few thousand of these each year, but as enthusiasts, this a car we should be gobbling up. It's the closest we'll get to a four-door Corvette, and with the 2015 model year updates, that statement is more true than ever. People often mistook the SS for a Malibu. "Is that a rental car?" Yikes. Aside from the manual gearbox and magnetorheological suspension, the SS is largely unchanged through its year and a half of sales. But that's no bad thing – we were thoroughly impressed with the SS when we first tested it at the end of 2013. Outside, the SS looks the same, which is a bummer. It is not an attractive car, and the chrome brightwork on the side vents and wheels doesn't help. That said, the sedate styling puts it under the radar – more so than competitors like a Dodge Charger 392, anyway. But maybe it's too under the radar. Even in the new, "Some Like It Hot Red" color (yes, really), photographer Drew Phillips reports that people often mistook the SS for a Malibu. "Is that a rental car?" Yikes. Exterior styling is our only gripe with the SS. Moving inside, there's a lot to like. This is easily one of Chevy's nicest, well thought-out interiors (thanks, Holden), with premium materials and tons of equipment. The Chevy MyLink infotainment system carries over, and now features 4G LTE and wifi connectivity. The touchscreen is a bit slow to respond, but otherwise, it's bright, well organized, and packed with functionality. This is easily one of Chevy's nicest, well thought-out interiors.
My year in EVs: 8 electrics that are changing the car industry
Wed, Dec 1 2021The year 2021 will go down as an inflection point in the auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles. It's when many much-anticipated models became reality. No longer sketches or sketchy prototypes, electric vehicles appeared from all corners with everything from the Lucid Air to Ford Mustang Mach-E changing how we think about transportation. I managed to drive a lot of them, and as I went through my notes, I realized IÂ’ve got a mini memoir of the seminal EVs of 2021. HereÂ’s my take on eight of them. Hummer EV Easily the most over-the-top EV I tested this year. The 1,000-hp super truck lived up to the hype with its domineering presence, stupendous power and simply being a reincarnated Hummer. I took it for a short spin on- and off-road at the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich., and was impressed with the airy cabin, removable sky panels and expansive touchscreens. Yes, I crab walked, which felt like steering a pontoon boat, though I can see why it would be useful. Lucid Air Dream Performance The most beautiful sedan I tested all year, EV or otherwise. Unlike the futuristic Mercedes EQS — which is quite attractive — LucidÂ’s car is a blend of mid-century modern interior aesthetics and classic European exterior styling. When I walked up for my test drive, someone who IÂ’m pretty sure was comedian Jon Lovitz was sitting inside and taking it all in. As it sat in the valet of a hotel in a wealthy suburban enclave north of Detroit, the Lucid drew more attention than any of the Mercedes, Cadillacs or Lexus models passing by. The driving experience was enveloping. Starting at $169,000 for the Performance model (reservations are closed), the Lucid I sampled packed 1,111 hp and 471 miles of range. From the precise steering to the comfortable suspension, the dynamics were spot-on. It's a formidable product, and all the more impressive given itÂ’s LucidÂ’s first. Chevy Bolt EV The Bolt was the most pleasant surprise for me. It handled well, offered low-to-the-ground hot hatch dynamics and the steering was dialed-in. Adding a crossover variant for the new generation was a smart play. On a summer morning where I went to a first drive of the Ford Bronco at an off-road course, my hour-long commute in the Bolt was an enjoyable appetizer. The Bolt was also my biggest disappointment due to its extensive recalls for fire risk. Ironically, I had the Bolt in my driveway when the initial recall went out for the previous generation (2017-19).
