have copious amounts of money in this car. purchased through some people in my home town that own the local towing/wrecking company. had been in one of his out buildings forever along with a 68 malibu that looked as though it got ass-ended by a log truck. the malibu had buick interior verified by cowl tag and build sheet. this was a strike year and these cars could of had anything gm in them. took the front clip, nice doors, mint buckets, and tilting/telescoping column from that car along with a few other parts. the super sport drive train had gone into one of his race cars years ago. guy I went to high school with in the 70's drove it every day. knew it was the same car by custom paint that had a graphic on the quarters.

I had a 69 427 and super t10 that was destined for the car, but has since gone into a 69 vette I purchased from a friend. original teal blue/teal blue 396 4 speed ac car with split back front bench. the guy that did all the work has mad skills and converted the firewall to accept a standard heater box. floors and trunk had plenty of pin holes. bottom of quarters and wheel well lips were rusted. after the trunk was cut out some rust was found in the bottom of the tail panel so it was replaced also. everything but the frame was either media blasted or stripped with a large brush on a big grinder. no rattle can anything anywhere on this car. high solid epoxy went on top of bare metal, then body work, then a regular epoxy primer. still have a gallon of $100 sealer primer that comes with car. brought it back just short of paint when I knew it would be sold. my plan was black base/clear. the dash, rear package area and window frame already painted black single stage urethane. engine compartment, interior, trunk shot with a satin black enamel. high grade paintable undercoating that dries like bedliner went on trunk, floors, underside of trunk and drop offs. splatter paint went on top of that in the trunk. the metal work was awesome. the quarter skins were fully welded as was the trunk and floors. zero warping as the guy takes the time to weld cool weld cool. very little filler besides the quarter skin seams. urethane seam sealer on all trunk and floor seams. all door hinges rebuilt, heater box all gone through with new heater core, new dash pad, rear seat all new. the front buckets are still the buick style upholstery, but mint. planned on using them for a few years before buying the chevelle stuff. all the loose pieces were media blasted and put in satin black enamel(bumper brackets, ect.) new front and rear bumpers. new tank and sending unit. new core support and bushings. the front clip was re-assembled with all new hardware. grill re-painted with satin black on top of an adhesion promoter. all the stainless is polished and ready to go back on. roof rail stainless has new foam installed on it. all the factory dark green tinted glass including the perfect factory windshield installed. rear and windshield put in with primer and urethane instead of the cheap tape kits. front and rear window molding clips all new and ready for moldings to be snapped in place. this car was complete when I took it apart. threw out a few things that needed replacing(front turn signals, couple of marker lights, and a couple of aluminum trim pieces come to mind). otherwise everything is there. all the wiring was in good shape and back in place. car had a factory roller tach cluster that was pretty nasty and expensive to restore, so I sold it to help build the mountain of cash that went into this thing. used the speedo/clock cluster from the malibu which was in nice shape.
major stuff to complete the car would be: headliner, door panels, carpet, motor/transmission( I have two 4 speed drivelines), exhaust, radiator. If you can swing a gun and turn a wrench, watch your nickels and dimes you could finish this thing for a lot less than buying a done one. they took a bunch of resto pics for me with a cheap digital camera I left there you can find at:  http://1968chevellesupersport.shutterfly.com/
have a contact at an oregon transport company that is really reasonable and will help get the car loaded for whoever comes for it. If you have any doubts about what you may be buying here please come look at it up close. everything was done right by a professional who cares about their work. this is a fixed price/make offer listing so everyone interested knows it is an honest sale and not some guy running it up with his buddies fake bids.

There's an impending shortage of new trucks in America's heartland

Thu, May 21 2020

URBANDALE, Iowa — Jerry Bill is worried the novel coronavirus could hurt business at the Des Moines auto dealership he runs, but not because of a shortage of buyers for the big Ram pickups on his lot. "Our biggest issue will be if we don't get more inventory," said Bill, general sales manager of Stew Hansen Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, which sells around 2,700 new vehicles a year in Urbandale, a suburb of Iowa's capital Des Moines. After a drop in sales in April when consumers stayed home, Bill expects pickup truck sales to end May similar to where they were a year earlier. And if demand remains strong, Bill said he will run out of popular models in June. Fiat Chrysler began slowly restarting Ram truck assembly lines on Monday after a two-month shutdown. The U.S. economy contracted in the first quarter at its sharpest pace since the Great Recession of 2007-2009 because of lockdown measures aimed at slowing the spread of the coronavirus. Economists warn the second quarter will be much worse. Still, far from the lockdowns of states like New York, Michigan or Ohio, dealerships like Stew Hansen have provided FCA and Detroit rivals General Motors and Ford a rare bright spot: strong sales of pickup trucks in America's heartland. Overall U.S. sales of cars and light trucks crashed to the weakest pace in 50 years last month. But sales of big Detroit brand pickups, particularly in southern and western states less affected by the outbreak, significantly outperformed the market, industry executives and analysts said. Pickup trucks are one of the most profitable automotive segments in the world. They account for a huge portion of the Detroit automakers' profits and formed a huge lure for Peugeot, which expects to merge with FCA by early 2021. The pressure is now on to boost pickup truck production and send vehicles to dealers in parts of the country with dwindling supplies. That is particularly true for GM, which is running short of certain truck models after losing 40 days of production to a strike last fall. "If you don't have what someone wants, they can choose to go to another brand," said Cox Automotive analyst Michelle Krebs. 'Easiest swap ever' Detroit automakers in March rolled out large discounts — such as interest-free loans for seven years — to keep vehicles rolling off dealer lots.

Fernando Alonso fails to qualify as Pagenaud takes Indy pole

Mon, May 20 2019

Former Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso narrowly failed to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday as France's Simon Pagenaud took pole position for the May 26 race. Kyle Kaiser beat out Alonso for the final spot in the 33-car field when he finished third, one spot ahead of the Spaniard, in a six-car shootout that determined the Indy 500's last row. The 23-year-old Kaiser, the last driver to take the track, averaged 227.372 mph for his four laps, a mere 0.019 mph ahead of Alonso's 227.353 mph average in the McLaren-prepared Chevrolet. "We never surrendered. We kept trying," Alonso, 37, told reporters after a tough week at the famed speedway. The Spaniard crashed his Chevrolet in practice on Wednesday and missed nearly two full days of practice while a back-up car was prepared. Then he tried five times on Saturday to qualify, puncturing a tire on the first attempt. Alonso had a completely new set up for Sunday's shootout but could not get the speed he needed to qualify. "I think the car felt better today than what we had yesterday. (So I am) happy with things we tried," he told reporters before learning he had not qualified. Pagenaud had a four-lap average speed of 229.992 mph to become the first Frenchman to take the pole since Rene Thomas in 1919. "It's just amazing," Pagenaud, who last week won the IndyCar Grand Prix on the track's road course, told NBC Sports. "Obviously last week was amazing, but this is even more special." He will be joined by Ed Carpenter (229.889) and Spencer Pigot (229.826) on the front row. But the Cinderella story belonged to Kaiser, the 33rd qualifier. "I don't think I can wrap my mind around what we just did," he said after bumping Alonso from the field. "This is all the credit to the team. They've been working non-stop trying to get this car ready for us and they did everything that we needed to get into this field." Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
