1968 Camaro.....big Block.....4 Speed......nice Paint.....super Sport Replica on 2040-cars
Athens, Tennessee, United States
SHORT DISCRIPTION: For your consideration I'm selling a good looking 1968 Camaro. I consider this a fast car, it has a big block 454 engine that is strong, it has a 4 speed manual transmission, 12 bolt rear-end, power steering, drum brakes, nice LaMans blue paint (medium blue with a lot of metallic), very presentable blue interior, clear glass, gleaming chrome, power steering, sway bar in the back, traction bars, mono leaf rear springs, new wheels and tires and more. The underside is not beautiful, but look at the pictures, it is solid. VIN: 124378L316815 and the VIN plate matches the title. I have a hard clear Tennessee title in hand. MIEAGE: 44,622 reading today and it may have turned once, add another 100,000. TITLE: Clear Tennessee title in hand. HISTORY: None that I can document, what I'm telling you is just the way I see it. PLEASE HERE THIS: This is a real nice car "very good looking car", its not a 100 point show queen that you haul to the show in a trailer and roll out to be judged. If you want a real nice car to drive this could be it, if you want a perfect car you can find it, "just get ready to pay a lot more than my price". ...................................................................................................................................................................................... The flowing information is long and detailed if you still have interest!
WHO YOU ARE BUYING FROM: My name is Ron Watson and I live in the small town of
WILL I SELL THE CAR OFF EBAY MOTORS? Yes, I know the lots of you are not registered on ebay and use it as a research tool.
MY REAL PRICE IS $24,800.That's what it takes to buy the car on or off ebay motor. I have been doing this for a long time and I know the game, I don't play it the same as most and I sell every car I put for sell.
PLEASE NO TRADES!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, but I will not trade, why should I trade when I have a hot selling car, I don't need motor cycles, boats, jewelry or your used false teeth.
I DO NOT SHOW CARS ON SUNDAY!!!!! I worship on sunday, I spend time with my family and I rest. I'm doing this because I love it, "I need a day off". I will be happy to show you cars 6 days a week, call in advance to set up a time, "I'm 67 years old and life is more than just cars".
Sorry, but I do not do videos. I'm old and don't want to learn and mess with them, I sell my cars anyway.
IS THERE ANY RUST PROBLEMS? The underside looks good, but not sanded smooth and detailed for show. The frame, supports and bottom panels all look very good to me. IS THERE ANY ACCIDENT DAMAGE? None that I can find and the title states none. WHY AM I SELLING THIS CAR? I’m a retired mechanic/auto-mechanic instructor/was a Army helicopter mechanic and instructor. When I find a truck or car I like for a good price I buy it fix things and resell for a fair profit. I did not restore this car, I just fixed a few things.
IS THIS A MATCHING NUMBERS CAR? No! The engine is now upgraded to a truck 454 cubic inch that runs sweet and strong. I have read that truck engines are 4 bolt mains, not 2 bolt, thicker bore area and higher nickel content in the block.
PAINT: The paint is shinny, the car is straight when you look down the sides, the panel fit is pretty good, no runs, the doors close good, no dents, no rust bubbles. It looks like LaMans blue, this is a medium blue with lots of metallic. The Super Sport stripe on the nose looks good. I consider this a very nice paint job to drive on the street.
CHROME: The chrome and bright work is nice, bumpers look real good, the stainless is good, the emblems good, the worst thing I see is pits in the tail light bezels.
INTERIOR: No smoke smell, the seat covers are good, the carpet good, the door panels good, the headliner good and the dash pad good, the seat belts are faded. I do see just a little waviness in the bottoms of the front seats.
RADIO: None. The car has the radio delete plate, but it does have some speakers form past years.
IS THIS A REAL SUPER SPORT CAR? I don't think so, but it looks like one. UNSERSIDE: Solid, but not painted shinny to put mirrors under at the car show. GLASS: The side glasses roll up and down good and look good, the windshield is clear, the back window has some very minor scuffs. ENGINE: Engine runs very strong, I don't think you will complain about power. The engine has been upgraded to a 454 cubic inch. The engine code is 3999289, that out of a early 70s truck. I have read that the truck engine are good, most were 4 bolt mains, high nickel content and thicker bore area. The intake is by Edelbrock and the carburetor is a Holley 4 barrel.
EXHAUST SYSTEM: Good used condition, the mufflers are by Flow Master. TRANSMISSION: It is a 4 speed manual with no bad growls or whines. The shifter is Hurst and works pretty good, the only rear thing I have noticed is on down shift its sometimes hard to go into 3rd gear. The clutch and pressure plate feel good with no slip and no chatter. REAR-END: It has no bearing noises, no growls, its a 12 bolt non posi with a sway bar and traction bars. BRAKES: Drums all around and they are not power. STEERING: The cars drives very good, it is power steering.
WHEELS AND TIRES: New Boss wheels and new tires, the fronts are 17 inch and the rear 18 inch.
LIGHTS: They work, turn signals work, headlights work, tail lights work, brake lights work, dome light is working.
GUAGES: Gas gauge works and the others are in a pod under the dash
WIPERS WORK! HEATER BLOWER WORKS! HORN NOT WORKING!
HOW DO THE DOORS AND HOOD OPEN AND CLOSE and panel fit? I think the doors fit and open very good, the trunk is up some due to tight rubber, the hood fits good for a after market cowl hood.
WOULD I DRIVE THE CAR HOME ON A LONG TRIP: I never recommend driving a old car home, I just test drive them and drive them some around town, but I do think this car would drive anywhere.
DID I RESTORE THIS CAR? No!
TRADES: Please no trades, they never work out and are just to hard!
CONTACT INFO: my cell is 423-506-8987, I do not answer when driving, while meeting with people, after about cell 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com
PAPERWORK: I know what to do! WE DO NOT HAVE A SHOW ROOM WITH OVERHEAD! We are just a father/son 2 man operation, but we are a THIS IS NOT AN AUCTION, THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LISTING: I reserve the right to stop the listing at any time and sale the vehicle “come look”. I RESERVE TH RIGHT TO STOP THE LISTING AT ANY TIME. THE CAR IS FOR WHERE THE CAR IS LOCATED: The car is here at my garage in US OR EXPORT "Nations Auto Transport" is located in the Kansas City area: This is a good company that will handle any type of transport in the Call Jim Page....his work number is 816-295-6887 and his email is jpage@shipnat.com MY AREA CODE FOR TRANSPORT: The area code for PAYMENT: I require a $250 deposit for a Buy Now or to hold the car. I will take this by PayPal, but not full payment. Option 1: Pay the old school way with green face to face. Option 2: Pay by check, I will wait till the most checks clear, I have had a fake bank certified check. I will take a bank cashiers check with lots of identification and advance notice so I can check you out. Option 3: The safest is to let our banks handle it, my bank is a member of the transfer. I will not give out my banking information until I get your information. INSPECTIONS: Please come look and be happy. All inspections are required to be done before the end of the listing. I listed this car as I see it as a 67 year old car restorer, please come and judge it for your self. I judge the car to my standards, this may not be yours. Paid inspectors are OK, but have to be very critical to cover their back sides, "come look". I understand how hard it is to buy a car without looking, but I think you should come look yourself. I don’t like paid inspectors, I like for the person that is buying to inspect for themselves. I think its fine to send a friend to inspect for you. To make it clear, don’t hit the buy now button and then inspect, come inspect first, I will not stop the listing and wait for a inspector! TRADES: Please no trades!
I do not finance cars! If your going to finance, get pre-approved.
BOTTOM LINE: My price is really $24,800, I am firm and asking more on the local market. The game is not rocket science, ask a price and come down, but I don't like that game. It’s not fun to bargain over the cell phone all day long with people that live 2000 miles away and are not going to buy anyway. My firm price is the Buy Now price. I have sold every car I have ever tried to, so I’m not motivated to be bargained down.
PLEASE!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! PLEASE!!!!! Come look at this vehicle. Please don’t hit the Buy Now button unless your ready to really buy it! Do your research, call me with questions, read my feed backs, I am ebay verified; this means they say I’m a real person in a real place. I WILL BE VERY HAPPY TO SELL YOU THE VEHICLE WITH-OUT AN INSPECTION; YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A Read the ME section on the upper right hand part of the listing marked seller info. Thank You, Ron Watson cell: 423-506-8987 email: dreamcar@live.com IS THERE A WARRANTY? No! Junkyard Gem: 1987 Chevrolet Turbo Sprint
Sun, Feb 6 2022Fifteen years ago, I wrote my first-ever automotive article under the name Murilee Martin, and it didn't take me long to start writing about one of my favorite automotive subjects: the junkyard. Before I'd refined my system for documenting discarded vehicles, however, I shot a lot of boneyard photos that never got used. For today's Junkyard Gem, I have four shots from early 2007 of one of the rarest turbocharged machines of the 1980s: the Chevrolet Turbo Sprint. The Chevrolet Sprint was really a rebadged Suzuki Cultus, from the pre-Geo era when General Motors sold the Isuzu Gemini as the Chevrolet Spectrum, the Daewoo LeMans as the Pontiac LeMans and the Toyota Corolla as the Chevrolet Nova (soon enough, the Spectrum became a Geo, and the Nova became the Prizm). The second-generation Cultus appeared in 1988, becoming the Geo Metro on our shores the following year. The Turbo Sprint was available for just the last two years of the Sprint's 1985-1988 American sales run, and it appears that just a couple of thousand were sold; if I'd known at the time just how rare they were, I'd have shot more photos of this one at the now-defunct Hayward Pick Your Part. The turbocharged 993cc three-cylinder produced 70 horsepower, 22 better than the naturally-aspirated version. Since the Turbo Sprint weighed just 1,620 pounds (that's about 500 pounds lighter than a barely more powerful '22 Mitsusbishi Mirage), it was plenty of fun to drive. For 1988, the regular Sprint hatchback cost $6,380 while the Turbo Sprint listed at $8,240 (that's about $15,375 and $19,855 today, respectively). Believe it or not, a Turbo Sprint actually raced in the 24 Hours of Lemons 10 years ago, though it didn't end well. This ad is for the regular Cultus, not the Cultus Turbo, but the screaming guitars sound reasonably turbocharged. For the most part, Chevy Sprint marketing was all about cheap purchase price and stingy fuel economy… at a time when gasoline prices were cratering. Related Video:
Weekly Recap: GM plans massive new paint shop at Chevy Corvette factory
Sat, May 23 2015General Motors is laying out some serious green to maintain the Chevy Corvette's expansive color palette. The automaker is breaking ground on a new paint shop this summer that's part of a $439-million investment to upgrade the 34-year-old Bowling Green, KY, factory that builds the Stingray. The massive new structure will total 450,000 square feet, nearly half the size of the current 1-million square-foot facility. Construction is expected to take two years and won't impact Corvette production. The upgrades include new robots that save paint and create a better finish, longer, more efficient ovens to bake in the finish, and LED lighting. There's also a dry scrubbing booth technology with a limestone handling system that eliminates waste. GM has invested $135 million in the factory in last four years for the changeover to build the C7 and to relocate its Performance Build Center to Bowling Green. The improvements continue to modernize the Kentucky factory, which has become a tourist attraction in its own right, as more than 56,000 enthusiasts visited it last year. The upgrades are part of a $5.4-billion investment GM confirmed in April that will remake its US footprint in the next three years. The Bowling Green expansion underscores GM's continued commitment to the Corvette, which sold nearly 38,000 copies around the world last year, an eight-year high. "With this major technology investment, we can continue to exceed the expectations of sports car buyers for years to come," North American manufacturing manager Arvin Jones said in a statement. OTHER NEWS & NOTES Takata recall hits 34 million vehicles The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expanded the Takata airbag recall to an almost unthinkable 34 million vehicles on Tuesday. The recall is part of an agreement reached by the two sides where Takata admitted some of its airbag inflators have a defect, and the deal compels the company to comply with all future regulatory actions and investigations. Takata's airbag inflators were produced with "a propellant that can degrade over time" and lead to ruptures, NHTSA said. Six deaths have been attributed to the flaw worldwide. Investigations conducted by Takata, automakers, and others have not determined the exact cause of the inflator problem, but NHTSA said moisture appears to alter the propellant's chemical structure. It then ignites too rapidly, creates too much pressure that ruptures the inflator, and blasts shards of metal at passengers.
